Ive seen more articles/studies that say the former than the latter

Im not sure how anyone could know much about any long term effects of delta

I mean just look at reported yearly pediatric death counts for the flu and COVID death counts. There were 188 pediatric deaths in 2018-2019 flu season. There were over 300 COVID pediatric deaths last year.

The long term effects comment was related to all variants, with concerning signs of long term lung, cardiac and brain concerns not fully appreciated yet, not to mention MIS-C which is horrifying to see and impacts multiple organ systems.

Delta is concerning because pediatric cases so far are a much larger percentage share of the new delta cases than the previous variants. Now hopefully that doesn't translate to that many more deaths but it's very likely it will.

If only there had been some way to see this coming or prevent it?

Next year will be interesting when vaccines are available but there are still cases, can't do virtual learning forever

I’ll tell you what will happen.  At that point the FDA will fully approve them and districts will require vaccinations or you don’t go to school.

Yeah but even if everyone was fully vaccinated there are still going to be positive tests, I doubt after vaccination any kids will get seriously sick but then what happens if one kid does, it is still going to be a mess for schools if they are hoping for 100% safety, just not possible

You mean, like they do now for several other infectious diseases?

I feel like DEagle should be getting a stipend between this thread and the vaccine thread in TATE.

I was irritated until I read that it was $15k worth of stock, and now I just feel sad for them.

and they lost money. they're terrible at insider trading, if that was what they were doing.

WGBs been putting in more heavy lifting than me at this point tbh. I'd blame it on the baby but even without that I just don't have as much energy to have the same argument over and over again as I did early on in this whole thing. I'm tired.

But every once and awhile it's still cathartic to call someone an idiot and be able to back it up.

Well, it’s not like we’re talking about a tough decision…

There’s lots of hard choices in life, but this isn’t one of them.  Getting the vaccine is a no-brainer.  And I say that as someone who is skeptical of a wide range of things.  Lol

Not a hard choice at all. I'm just not interested.

If doing it for yourself isn’t enough, do it for me.

You're vaccinated right? You have better odds of contracting it from your own kind. 😂

Yeah, and so are my wife and kids.  My youngest just turned 12, so even she’s gotten at least one shot.

I meant "the vaccinated" in general.

ACB denied request to hear case invalidating Indiana U vaccine mandate.

How not shocking.

Three of four teachers were unvaccinated. The status of the fourth is unknown.

How can you be a teacher and not be vaccinated? Wtf.

Horrible data out of the world's most vaccinated country. Vaccines aren't looking great.

https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/the-israeli-graphs-that-prove-covid-vaccines-are-working-1.10101640

As of August 8, the ministry recorded 85.6 severe COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people among the unvaccinated over the age of 60, compared to 16.3 per 100,000 people among the fully vaccinated. This makes the unvaccinated elderly more than five times as likely to experience a severe case than their immunized counterparts.

For those under the age of 60, the rate of severe illness among the unvaccinated stood at 1.4 cases per 100,000 people – 2.8 times more than the 0.5 per 100,000 among those who received two doses of the vaccine.

But keep cheering for the virus because it's more important to be right about the vaccine. That totally doesn't make you look like both a moron and a supreme d-bag at the same time.
