This game was actually lost when the sixers came out flat and found themselves down 10 early. Basically fighting an uphill battle the rest of the game. You cannot CANNOT show up to a pivot game 3 with everything on the line, energized packed house with fans going crazy and just be flat.

Did they ever take a lead? Everytime they got close, Celtics pulled away

Harris is a trash defender

I’m gonna be thrilled when they finally trade him this offseason. he does this every postseason. He’s fine first round against inferior opponents. Second round against better opponents he starts off ok then as the series continues he slowly disappears more and more.

more like a 4 second violation.

guess it was 5.

Got up 29-28 at the end of the first quarter. The issue with the Celtics is if you keep battling back from 6 to 10 points down by the time you even get back to taking the lead or tied they’re going to go on a run. So you can’t come out of the gate and find yourself down 10 points 3 minutes into the game. That’s how the Celtics are going to beat you every time.

welp, now you wonder if the 6ers at least win 1 more game or just lose out.

Liking my Celtics to win East and Nuggets to win West bets

long game...2nd round exit should mean the end of glenn....and possibly harden & tobi too.

The sixers are gonna get smashed in game 4. Harden and maxey have been bad outside of game 1. And you are likely not getting 10 from niang and 9 from tucker to make it be as close as just 12. And i don’t see harden doing crap going forward with only 1 day off.  He’s old and only good on multiple days rest.

Glen should have happened last year but will happen

Doc is a problem but right now the bigger issue is talent on this roster not being good enough. The reality is at the trade deadline morey, ownership and the Sixers FO knew the Celtics were better than them. It was obvious they beat them every single time they faced except for the one game where they didn’t have Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid went off   instead of actually adding guys to a rotation to make you more formidable against the Celtics if you met up, they decided to make one smaller move and save money by being under the luxury tax.

add on poor moves by previous FO regime and morey have basically doomed this franchise. From drafting fultz, okafor, Simmons to letting butler go to trading away bridges to signing Harris and horford to then not trading Simmons for haliburton. This is what I talked about yesterday. You can’t have 15 mistakes and expect that you’re just gonna be able to get out of that hole and win a title. This is on doc but also on colangelo, morey, brand, brett brown and sixers ownership.

Lakers are gonna be fine. I expect them to come out game 3 and play better. Add on the warriors most of the year haven’t played well on the road

It will come down to which AD the Lakers get and what Klay shows up for the warriors. I expect a better game then last night either way

I think it hurt when the NBA helped the Lakers at the trade deadline with 2 ripoff deals. One of those deals was getting them Vanderbilt which was a 6ers target. We pivoted to McDaniels, who is ok... but Vanderbilt is better, and I think could have had more of an efffect on this series than McDaniels is having.

Probably still not enough. But I think it could have helped.

Vanderbilt is a really good role player at times but, he is also wildly inconsistent. That being said I don't think he helps enough to win these games.

Yeah. Offensively its pretty much a wash. I think he may be a bit better defensively which would help in this series. Ultimately probably not enough since just defense isnt gonna get it done. We have nobody stepping up to help Embiid offensively. But I do think there would be enough of a difference to be noticeable.

Im not sure if the 6ers would have gone for McDaniels at all if they didnt need to make a cap/tax move.

I don’t disagree. However, for like three weeks leading up to the trade deadline Derek Bodner and Rick Hoffman talked about the Sixers were going to get themselves under the luxury tax so that they could get 15 to 16 mil back this off-season. They wanted to do that. I said it then and I’ll say it now if you’re gonna be that cheap, then you’re not going to win anything. I look at the Celtics, I look at the Warriors and I look at the Lakers and I look at those teams they’re willing to go into the luxury tax to try to build a team keep of winning. The 76ers ownership is more concerned about getting $16 million back by being under luxury tax

this is now the seventh time the Sixers have played the Celtics this year. Outside of a  miraculous James Harden game and embiid playing out of his mind with Jaylen Brown out they’ve been pretty much held at bay against the Celtics.

again, I’ve said this for a while they made way too many mistakes along the way to be able to put together a championship team that can beat a Boston Celtics team who is a well run organization and hasn’t made as many. Even if you trade,Tobias Harris, and let Harden go you don’t have the cap space to just go out there and bringing that other star to pair along Joel Embiid. That time has passed. And you don’t have the requisite assets to get that superstar here. So what exactly are we doing? We are basically spinning our tires in the mud knowing that every year we’re gonna get to the second round vs. the bucks or the Celtics and they’re gonna whoop your ass because we can’t build a team that’s better due to lack of assets and cap space. So we’re stuck because of bad decisions over the span of seven years.

yeah.

They need to let those guys go and use the cap space to sign 2-3 mid-range guys to short term deals. Ideally 1-2 years. 3 years max. Gives optionality. Movable contracts, sizeable enough to combine to salary match if the right opportunity hits the trade market.

Defensively for sure, he can guard all 5 spots pretty effectively. He did about a good of a job as you could on Curry last night. He also helps speed up the pace, he runs the floor hard.

Unfortunately i don’t think it matters at this point. If you do that you still aren’t good enough  as a team and likely taking a step back next year. and not sure you get that trade opportunity  to arrive before embiid just falls off a cliff from where he’s at now or injury takes away from what he is.  I tend to think they are just screwed and the poor management over the years has sealed their fate.

Harris deal needs to bring picks. I dont know how many you can possibly get for him. But at least get 1 first rounder. Its a start.

If Embiid falls off a clif with those mid-range guys still on the roster, then you start offloading them for picks too. At that point, its time to start piling up the assets because thats a full rebuild.

I know that 2-3 mid-range guys isnt making them a contender next year. But its the move to make. It puts them in position to be ready in either scenario. Big trade, or rebuild/asset collection.

Jmo i think embiid asks to be traded either way at the end of next year when the sixers once again fail to get out of the second round

Embiid won’t have a ton of value after the end of next year makes it 6 for 7 injured and disappointing playoff runs for him.
