Harden could have been fun but Nets overpaid. Nothing you can do about that.

Agreed. If they win it all, good for them but that is a ton to give up for anyone at that age who can walk in two years, if he chooses.

at this point i consider people in two camps..

..those who want to win.

..those who want to trade ben simmons.

even IF keeping ben is the best option, people want to trade ben so they can say the team traded him.  just because we didn't overpay for harden with a deal that would have included simmons, does not make simmons any less of a player.  houston wanted simmons, but they wanted the farm with him.  something morey was not willing to do.  would morey trade simmons?  sure.  he'd trade embiid too.  no one is safe with morey.  it's just the return has to be worth.

trust morey.  if he made the call that our roster as is is better than the one we would have had with harden...  i'll trust the man.

Just heard from source. Houston asked Sixers for the at least 3 unprotected firsts, 3 pick swaps, Simmons, Maxey and Thybulle.

The knock on him was his 3 point shooting.  He's been pretty good in that department.  Had a good FT % and shot well in high school.  With his work ethic, age and what he's shown so far that's a tough sell.  Only problem is he doesn't fit into the Embiid time line.

I would have done the 3 picks before I gave Maxey. Thats just a complete deal breaker for me. And looks like Morey too. 

Id love gws to tell us if there is a pivot now.

My 13 year old son would no not to give up that much for Harden. 

Morey would trade Embiid, just stop. Morey has said he values superstars over anything else.

He shot 83% from FT at Kentucky and FT % is the best indicator for future success from 3.

Small at guard, but get an elite wing defender back. 

CJ McCollum, Robert Covington 

Simmons, Scott 

Not the biggest CJ guy, but that is probably his value. Can run him and Maxey together with Covington at the 3. 

Trailblazers are still 5th worse in defense even after all those addictions. Simmons gives them an elite defender and a guy that can get you 5 to 10 points a night.

Id love it. Not a huge CJ guy either but to add Covington to the deal is very nice. 

I just dont know when theyre ever going to blow it up in Portland. Theyre not quite good enough, but they seem to think they are.

which is WHY he decided to keep simmons and embiid together.  he sees ben as a superstar as much as he sees embiid as a superstar.  no matter HOW many times morey shoots down the rumors, it seems people here just want to see ben moved:

the trade rumors we saw was just houston probably trying to get MORE out of the nets cause they kept leaking what the "sixers were offering/countering".  from the guy's own words, ben and joel are going to be here a long time.  i don't think he ever entertained a simmons trade as he's been building around ben and joel.

our roster construction is currently shooters around ben and joel, with a better bench than the last time ben and joel were surrounded by shooters -- a roster which was one of the best in the league if not the best (at the time).  i'm excited to see where this team goes, no matter how down people are on ben and think he won't work.  i trust morey.

All defensive team doesn't mean you are close to that level. A career 16ppg and 15ppg in the playoffs.

yet people will put ben in trades for superstars OR even the best players currently in the nba (*cough*harden*cough*)...  so, which is it?  is he garbage or is he a player worth trading a superstar for?  he HAS to be a superstar to be included in those types of trades.

it's like you want to call him garbage but want to use him to get a superstar..  which is .

i trust morey.  he wants ben and joel here a long time...  let's see what he does with them.  again, i think trade rumors surrounding ben are just teams trying to get more out of another team linked to a player.  other teams know ben is a superstar and they have to up their offers if they want to match a trade that includes simmons.
