I dont agree with the overall premise of this article that basically says the players are more to blame than Brown. (I think the blame is equally shared by Brown, Embiid, and Simmons). But Spike Eskin does make some good points when he talks about the players.

Its particularly frustrating that Ben didnt have the fire to go shut down TJ Warren in that pacers game. Defense is his calling card in the NBA right now. He has been rightfully questioned on his lack of killer instinct but everyone thinks of killer instinct as an offensive trait. He had no desire to take on that defensive assignment. Thats problematic.

By the way, the Heat beat the Celtics yesterday without Jimmy Butler. Must be nice to be able to develop athletes like Adebayo who is becoming a beast, and draft young talent that translates immediately like Hero and even Nunn.

There’s a ton of blame to go around with this team.

1. poor ownership. They fired and hired Gms. Search process was ridiculous. They have no direction and fly by the seat of their pants in decision making. They are bad owners and you are seeing how it affects the team.

2. Colangelo wasting assets

3. Elton brand wasting assets and cap space on a team built to play in the 80s and yet even though built to play in the 80s would get smacked cause they are soft and don’t play defense.

4. brown inability to get players to hit their peaks and become better at their weaknesses. Team basically seems like they don’t listen to him. He’s not a great in game coach. Frankly he’s in over his head.

5. Players seem to plateau or never make the next giant step in development. I think it’s a culture thing where they think they know all and they do what they want cause the organization has basically allowed it from the top down. Always some immaturity or something not basketball related going on from noel to okafor in Boston to colangelo to butler saga to Ben and his love life to embiid on social media playing mind games with opponents

Their effort rebounding is atrocious

I’ve never hate my team but they are super close. I hate watching them play. They are incredibly frustrating and inability to play up to their talent level is maddening.

unless every other player on your team is a 3 point shooter...including the centers...ben is nearly impossible to build around.

You either build around the assumption that he’ll develop a jump shot or he’s the third best player and a mostly defensive guy with little role on offense on a true title contending team.

How clutch was that OKC win over the Lakers today?! nice!

The complete destruction of Ben Simmons into a taller, more talented, rich man’s Fultz is nearly complete.

Michael Porter seems to be a perfect fit for this team.

Yup. Too bad we never had a chance at him 😒

he'll never be a shooter...and he's being paid waay too much to be a one dimensional player.

Didn’t see the game, but just looking at the box score it looks like Embiid is still playing well. Honestly starting to look like Ben at PG was detrimental to Embiid’s production.

I really don’t think you trade both guys and at this point I think Simmons is the one you need to move. Embiid has his warts, but it’s encouraging that he came out of the lock down in shape and ready to play. Meanwhile Simmons has pretty much been invisible. Moving him to the 4, as of right now, has done nothing to get him more involved in the offense.  I just think in the long term the team is better off getting as much value for Simmons as they can. Hopefully that value includes a true PG to run the show with Embiid sticking to post play.

Missed yesterday’s game, but even his defense wasn’t particularly good in the first two games. Maybe it’s rust, or maybe it’s his hurt feelings over losing his PG spot.

I wonder if it's the motivation issue for Ben.  Knows we are in the playoffs no matter what.  Knows there's no such thing as home court this year so doing hardly matters. As a guy who needs big time external motivators,  he's probably having a hard time caring about these games.

That would be a horrible excuse

With the Sixers making it clear that they have a 0% chance of winning it all, I am now firmly entrenched in the anyone but Lebron camp.

Better hope the clippers can do it. Frankly i think they are the only team capable of stopping them in the west. And i just think they matchup well with Milwaukee

Would not be shocked if it is that at all. Also would love to see the info about his back injury. Devon givens made a great point on the radio yesterday saying he’s not moving as well out there as before the back injury. Maybe it’s rust but i wonder if he’s avoiding trying to tweak his back again.

Yeah but that's what you have in Simmons. He openly admits he needs to be pushed hard to be motivated.  Brown doesn't push hard,  and these games don't really matter.

Giannis played 16 minutes in an irrelevant game vs the Nets the other day.

16 points 7/8 FG, 2/3 3P, 6 rebounds, 4 assists

In a game that didn't matter.

Ben sucks, he just sucks and needs to go with Brown and Brand.

I bet if you build the team around Joel you will find an extremely motivated Embiid.

yeah, can't waste peak years of embiid hoping ben will finally learn how to shot a jumpshot.
