I wonder what the Heat are thinking after getting crushed in the first round. There's no chance, but Simmons for Butler works on money. Morey basically dunking on Brand and correcting his biggest mistake.

EDIT: @20dawk4life beat me by like 10 seconds. I do that trade in a nano-second.

 i was thinking about the heat as well...mainly because ben seems like the type to want to play there. it would def have to be butler coming to philly because there's no way they could play together.

I know the Butler trade is just due diligence but I don’t think Tobi and him can work together. You would get less from Tobi then you are already getting. If we were to acquire Butler, we need to move Tobi also.

Him and Tobi are fine.  Him and Ben were the problem.  Tobi is fine as the 3rd option.  With Jimmy taking the ball out of Ben's hands is where you run into the exact situation we just had.  He has nowhere on the court to go to where he is effective besides the dunker spot when he doesn't have the ball in his hand.  So you got Jimmy a limited 3pt shooter and Ben a non-existent one on the floor with Embiid.  Tobi is the least of my worries in that scenario.

He has to be better than "fine” with his contract. He will also have to play the role where he takes more corner 3’s. When there is adversity and Butler starts getting in your face, Tobi will turtle. When Doc yelled at him during the game, it looked like he was gonna start crying and he played like crap the rest of the game.

it's way too late for shot doctors and sports psychologists, imo. as far as philly is concerned anyway. let another team deal with that nonsense. ben needs to go now & never play another game in a sixers' uniform.

definitely keep saying the right things...offseason skills workouts & whatever. it's all bullsheet....but  you can't come out & say that simmons is broken & will never learn to shoot while you're trying to negotiate trades. say the right things publicly...and work behind the scenes to ship his azzz out of philly.

Not sure how saying he is going home to relax is saying the right things. In my opinion that is the absolute wrong thing to say. All the greats who ended a season like that get right back to work.

HARD PASS ON KP. HE isn't worth a 2nd.

7'3" dudes just don't stay healthy and he has been a shell of himself since the injury

And Ben did what in the face of adversity...shot a record low FT% and shot the ball 4 times during crunch time (4th qtr) in an entire 7 game series.  Ben is more of an issue than Tobi at this point.  Particularly because of fit with Embiid.

Agreed, Tobi can at least stretch the floor and have games that will get you the win occasionally. Tobi just gets paid to much to only be that, is the only real problem with him.

As a third option behind butler and Embiid he’d be dangerous and spread the floor better.

Ahh ok I got you. Unfortunately, when the front office is talking him up and Ben is doing the opposite of what they are saying is gonna cause trade problems.

Now we are dreaming about Butler.

Did you watch the Clippers/Mavs series? He doesn't spread anything and his role is what Ben's was, the dunkers spot.

Exactly.  He was a panic max after Jimmy bolted.  He's a good NBA player, he's just not a max player.  He had a good season and even good moments in the playoffs.  I can't blame Tobi for the contract, that's on the FO at the time.

On that team sure. But he still has an outside shot and wouldn’t be needed to play down low here as much.

Daryl was tight lipped but this stood out…[Jackson Frank] Daryl Morey: "Frankly, if we're squeaking by the second round, that tells me we're not good enough to win the title."

GM Elton Brand in shambles.

Love the way Morey handles Eskin's stupid unanswerable questions and his pompous arse in general.

Elton Brand has a great job. He doesn't have to do a damn thing other than cash his paychecks.

[Neubeck] Morey on whether he thinks Simmons will work with shooting specialists, as one example, that the team recommends: "My understanding is that Ben, just like all our players, is all in on the organization…I believe and we expect for the players to do whatever is necessary”

After his horford offseason would you really want him to be doing anything

Morey is probably more of a pompous ass so works out well
