Thinking outside the box here.  If we are looking to get Hield, is it possible we can then use Curry with Ben and others to get a more favorable return.  I am not in favor of trading Curry but if its nets us a good return, maybe we go that route?

God...this situation would be like...so much easier if Ben actually took his thumb out of his sphincter and started shooting...........and I'm not talking Steph Curry shooting, I mean...like at all......

Good point!

i won't pretend to understand exactly how it works but they also have a $8.2mill trade exception from the horford trade.

https://thesixersense.com/2021/07/28/sixers-rumors-aaron-holiday-interest-nba-draft/

In free agency, the Sixers have a $5.9 taxpayer’s mid-level exception to burn. On the trade market, Philadelphia has the 28th pick and an $8.2 million trade exception from the Al Horford deal. One new name has surfaced in the rumor mill on that front: Aaron Holiday.

The fanbase is no doubt familiar with his older brother, who just won a championship.

According to Michael Kaskey-Blomain of CBS Sports, the Sixers have expressed interest in the Pacers guard. The 24-year-old Holiday is set to enter his fourth season in the NBA, with career averages of 7.7 points and 1.9 assists in 18.9 minutes per game.

The Sixers have guard talent on the roster, but frankly, not much. George Hill looked cooked in his time with Philly last season, and Shake Milton is probably not a rotation-level player on a championship team. With Ben Simmons’ future hanging in the balance, there is no shortage of opportunity for another reserve guard.

Almost every mock draft has Philadelphia taking a guard with the 28th pick. Well, if the Sixers were to trade the pick for Aaron Holiday, it would accomplish the same goal. Holiday may not command that price — the Sixers might be able to dangle multiple second-round picks instead — but odds are, no one is drafting the next MVP at 28 (cannot wait to return to this line in a decade).

Holiday’s playing time has been limited in Indiana’s deep backcourt, but he’s a real player. While you will only get so much out of a 6-foot backup guard, Holiday is a career 37.2 percent 3-point shooter and a tough-nosed defender. He can hit some pull-up jumpers and help run the offense with the second unit.

Philadelphia needs to be careful about rostering too many small guards, as both Seth Curry and Tyrese Maxey figure to play a lot next season. Not to mention a player like Kyle Lowry or Damian Lillard, should the Sixers be fortunate enough to add one. Holiday is plenty malleable on offense, but his height takes positional versatility out of the question.

Swapping the 28th pick for Holiday would be a bit of a shoulder-shrug moment, but worse trades have been made. Holiday would get a chance to crack Doc Rivers’ rotation, and he probably won’t command a ridiculous payday when he’s extension-eligible next summer.

championship!

Don't hate it and team doesn't have a backup lead guard. We can laugh but they desperately needed a guy like TJ McConnell this year.

So tried to email bodner and hofman about it but neither got back to me. Based off what I’ve heard on podcasts and HE found you can’t add players from the sixers into it. But they can add players via trade that are 8.2 mil combined or a player at or below.

Maxey?

Teams calling on 76ers guard Matisse Thybulle are being told he’s not available via trade, per league source. Can change rather quickly, especially in a trade that unloads Ben Simmons.

Trae Young in shambles.  Matisse :groovy:

[Aldridge] Tommy Sheppard says neither Bradley Beal nor his representatives have requested a trade. He says he continues to believe that there are FAs who would "love" to play with Beal & Russell Westbrook, though the Wiz only have the non-taxpayer MLE when free agency starts this weekend.

He isn't that type of guard. Tj has calming effect, knows how to run an offense, and really good defender.

Too early to be drunk Tommy

i'm ignoring the tweet i just posted & calling a blockbuster 4 team trade that results in beal to philly, simmons to toronto, siakam to golden state, & wiggins + golden state's picks to washington...with some additional filler/picks thrown in.    :worthy:

[Amick] As a follow-up to today’s column, a source with knowledge of Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons landscape is very much downplaying the Miami possibility. Also, as a sidenote, Simmons or his camp has not made any specific requests regarding possible landing spots.

Klutch really has no power in this case because 4 years left on his deal.

His request would be Hawaii or Thailand.  Dude is scared to play anywhere now.

Read Warriors might want to 4 for Suggs so figure that trade out

Cam Reddish available.

Don't see how they get him and Cam will drive people crazy.

I think he is more talented than RJ Barrett but you question his drive, work ethic, he isn't an alpha, and his toughness.

I guess we aren't trading Ben.  Pop can't believe he can unlock Ben and be willing to do anything close to this, right?

The Philadelphia 76ers wanted four first-round draft picks, three pick swaps, and a young player from the Spurs in exchange for Ben Simmons, per

Clearly someone in the Spurs released that news and they didn't read the Art of the Deal

Wonder who gave him that piece of news...Rich Paul.

I might drive to Philly next time Simmons plays there and boo him the entire game. Dude is everything you don't want your kid to be.
