On the draft front — according to the intel I’ve been able to gather — the Raptors have zeroed in on Gonzaga’s six-foot-five two-way guard Jalen Suggs as their preferred choice if he’s available, though six-foot-nine do-it-all defender Scottie Barnes of Florida State would be a more than welcome fallback option if Suggs is off the board.

Reading between the lines, the Raptors are unlikely to try to move up in the draft order to make sure they can grab Evan Mobley, the USC seven-footer who projects as a multi-purpose modern big, even though Toronto’s most glaring need is for some quality size.

Source: The Sixers hope to trade Ben Simmons tonight. The asking price remains the same. The relationship seems to be over. It’s not a matter of if anymore, but when.

At the least it is CJ and Picks for Ben. They can get that deal the day before training camp

I will take CJ over Lowry.

Dude was soft in college and soft in the NBA. He just is soft, but good for him for tricking people in hundreds of millions of dollars. He ultimately is the winner

i have a feeling it will something underwhelming like wiggins or brogdon. :meh:

Hopefully he is just bluffing with his deadline to start a last second bidding war.  If the offers suck, hold on to ben for another month or so.  Or, if you wanna get desperate, Ben, Maxey, #28 and next years 1st for FVV and #4.

I don't think that is a desperate move and might open up cap space this year to bring in another wing since Fred's cap is around 20 this year. FVV and Suggs can play off each other as well because Suggs is 6'4" with a 6'6" wingspan.

Might not be sexy on paper but keeps the window open a few more years and realistically the Sixers are 3rd in the East right now behind Bucks and Nets.

If I am Morey I am looking at Kanter, Zeller or even Robin Lopez. They need a legit legit back up Center that can start games so Embiid can rest games. Kanter would be #1, dude can score but is bad defensively and in the regular season that is fine.

[The Athletic] The Cavs, among other teams, explored a potential Ben Simmons trade with the Sixers, sources tell @talkhoops. However, the asking price wasn’t something Cleveland would consider.

I will guess it was Garland, Nance, 3rd pick, and future 1st

I would be happy with that trade if we exhaust all better options first.

"League sources said brief conversations between Cleveland and Philadelphia were explored, but an asking price of every young player the Cavs value plus multiple first-round picks in the future wasn’t something they’d consider,” Harper wrote.

Wtf is Morey doing?

I think we are holding on to Ben for another 6 weeks or so.

it's all a smoke screen

This may be wishful thinking but I hope he has an offer he is willing to accept from one team and is seeing if he can get someone to bite on topping it before finalizing that deal.  Again, that's an optimistic view but now that the leaks are coming from both sides, not just from the other teams, I have to think the Sixers wouldn't be talking about hoping to complete a deal today unless they have something they are OK with.

That said, they need to get this right in the worst way.  If they blow a deal for Ben without adding quality pieces around Joel, you are looking at another rebuild including moving Joel.

I think he’s doing it to say hey we would’ve done it if we got what we wanted. in reality he rather wait to trade Simmons and this gives him the ability to wait and see what happens with with beal and lillard or if someone else better comes along then what they’ve been previously offered

Yeah a lot of people want Ben gone asap but the sensible thing to do is wait a little longer if he can't get a good offer by tonight.  I would rather wait for a better offer than to just get rid of him by tonight for something weak.

add a pick or two going to philly.

and  at roco being listed as a center.

It’s why i said i don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibilities that Simmons is still here when we get closer to the start of the season. I think some of these trade rumors are just its draft day and people know the sixers ideally want to trade Ben so they throw out just about anything cause people will buy it and they get clicks. Meanwhile i think some where the sixers asked for astronomical value is cause the sixers know they won’t accept and they can continue to play the waiting game going on with lillard, beal who morey covets.

i also think buying that 53 is going to be connected to using of the horford trade exception
