Agreed plus I think it's better for Maxey long term to play off the bench now where the offense can run through him while he develops his game.  Once he shows improvement in the consistency of his outside shooting and gets more comfortable as a distributer, you can look make changes on the roster to get him in the starting line up.

I think he can develop playing with the starters but I think his development would be accelerated if he was mostly playing when he doesn't have to defer to Embiid, Tobias, and theoretically Brogdon if that deal gets made.

Agreed, let him get quality experience off the bench. He can be that steady hand for the second unit that brings a little bit of extra energy to the game. He may develop into the starter, but I would let him begin the season on the bench

Agree.

As the roster stands now,  I want Maxey starting.

But if we make a brogdon trade,  or any PG I want Maxey on the bench trying to replicate what we saw from that unit last night.

It's ok to still have him off the bench in year 2. I know he's good.  I love him and feel sky high on his potential. But if you can get a PG for those starters,  and then still have that bench unit intact backing them all up,  it's a great team.

Why can’t any of these multi- team trades have the Sixers getting a perennial all-star superstar, and Ben winding up on some B-league team in Siberia?

So we would loose Tobias, Maxey, Ben, Curry and a ton of draft picks for Beal and Lillard.......yeah, guess I'm in!!  Someone get Morey and Brand on the phone!!

According to some reports the pacers trade isn't good enough for Morey either

Yeah he declined the original Brogdon and 1st. And there's no store star involved.

Why isn't that viable? If Shake can run the first unit then he can run the bench. Seth and Shake are competent enough to run an offense with whatever starters for 20 minutes a game.

Shake wouldnt run the 1st unit. He would simply be on it. He can handle the ball some. But youd see it in the hands of Seth, and Tobias a ton. Which is why, the starters could potentially get by without him. But he would really downgrade the bench where you lack those options to handle the ball so much. You cant really give it to Thybulle and Niang to hide his deficiency as a lead man.

I thought Maxey had shown real promise last year?

So Sixers fans... do you think you have no chance at a deep run this year?

So basically have zero lead guards

Doc is the next problem

Shake has been awful shooting from distance. He had that one playoff game that he was hot, otherwise that has been the disappointment in his game over the last 12 months. He has gone from a pretty good 3 point shooter to below average and has developed that hitch in his shot. If he is better shooting from outside than Maxey right now, that's not a good sign for either of them. Or it's Doc trying to make up excuses for his own deficiencies as a coach because it's pretty clear Maxey is more effective than Shake just about everywhere on the court right now

Yes, but he's the next problem they need to throw out the door.

This should be fun

What a shitshow.

Would assume they are looking to "get him in camp” to avoid the fines but still keep him off the court and wait for a trade

What a freaking dumb a**

As soon as they realised they're losing money and can't get it back they're looking for a resolution to get him back on the team.

This is why it was the right move to hold off on the trade. It sends a message that they can't just do whatever the F they want.

He can come back with his tail between his legs and try and increase his value
