The problem with that is I think the teams that are willing to take Harris are doing it to get Simmons. Not to see him go elsewhere. I think its really difficult to come up with a 3 team trade that satisfies everyone.

If i were the nets I’d want Simmons but only really to flip him down the road in another trade down the road and possibly in the offseason. I actually think Harris, green, mcdaniels and Beverley would give them much better depth around kyrie and Durant. Plus Harris is actually a better fit along side Durant and kyrie. Problem is kyrie is missing games so Harris is then asked to do more than he should. Plus i doubt the nets want Harris on that contract unless they believe in the 2023 offseason they can use his expiring contract to trade and bring in another star.

what will it do for Bens ego if he is traded for Harden? He probably believes like coach just said that he is on the same level. Will fail to consider that Harden is pretty washed, and STILL the only reason he can get traded for him is because the Nets have no leverage.

It’s amazing that nets fans on Twitter believe they have really good leverage especially if this goes to the offseason. They have 3 options at that point. 1.  He leaves and they get nothing. 2. Do a sign and trade with the sixers for Simmons and green/curry/whatever minor pieces or 3. Do a sign and trade with another team where they likely don’t get much anyway besides probably expiring contracts 

Here is a glimpse of what Harden is still providing this year on offense. 

Not gonna get in to the value of any hypothetical deals, or possibly extending him. But from a basketball sense-

I dont care much if hes not a 30-40 point a night guy anymore. Embiid just needs a guy like Butler who can score 20+ when needed. Many times Butler was even below 20, but would just make shots at the right time. When Embiid is out of the game, or at the end of the game.

If Harden can give about 25ppg, thats plenty of help for Embiid. Thats just basic PPG thinking. But thinking deeper in to defensive matchups, its also going to mean your opponent's best perimeter defender is now on Harden. With attention drawn to him and Embiid, Maxey is going to be eating up weaker defenders on a nightly basis. Teams 3rd best defenders arent going to be able to stay in front of him. Its also going to help Tobias (if we dont find some trade for him) as well. If a team wants a bigger defender on Harden, Harris thrives when mismatched down low on smaller defenders. Thats how he scores most of his points on his biggest scoring nights. 

Just like when I was saying you dont necessarily need a super star that can carry a team (because we already have Embiid), you dont need Harden to be that superstar either. He just needs to be another ~20 ppg scorer, while drawing defenses attention away from Embiid, out to the perimeter.

 

If Embiid is scoring 30, Harris and Harden scoring 20 each, and Maxey and Curry scoring 15, thats 100 points a night from your starting 5. And on most nights one or more of those guys is going to go well above those totals.

people dont understand leverage.

Why did Harden sit tonight's game vs the Jazz?  Most box scores usually list a reason.  The one I just looked at was mysteriously blank.
