Not really..... If he is going to resign with the Nets, the contract is pretty much boiler plate.   That's why he doesn't have an agent..... There's nothing to negotiate.  He's a max player

Hey, you might be right. But I think most max players do have agents, and they don't just trust that the deal is boilerplate.

I think there's a larger chance that he's getting an agent on board in anticipation of the offseason, whether he re-signs or moves on.  Definitely don't think he's suddenly rushing to get one at the trade deadline.

But who knows. Trade might happen. Likely won't.

Yep. These are very complicated contracts. It's not like downloading a basic contract after Googling it.

Simmons didn’t play last night either… hmm

Where have I read that joke before?

Didn’t play last night. Searching for an agent right before the trade deadline. He’s obviously putting the pieces in place for a trade, but that doesn’t mean it’s definitely going to happen.

He has a bad hammy which should be extremely worrisome

There will be people in the "dont rush a trade" camp making victory laps if/when the 6ers complete a trade for Harden after waiting so long, just because we land a big name.

But... its extremely questionable whether that will even be a smart move.

33yo out of shape guy with a hamstring injury, decreasing PPG numbers.

Instead you could have gotten cleared cap space by offloading Harris, a few good players in or entering their primes like Haliburton and Hield. And on top of having those guys, you could have signed Harden in the summer.

To skip right to the Harden trade at this moment, is a gigantic wasted opportunity for adding additional talent, and waste of resources at best, even if he works out to be a great contributor.

He's averaging 37 minutes per game.

The counter to this argument is that Joel is playing out of his mind right now.  If there was ever a time to take a chance, it would be now.

Youd still be adding Haliburton and Hield right now. Huge boost to the team.

In addition to them, youd add Harden in the Summer.

The gamble is to jump right to harden, have no assets to add any more pieces, and then Harden is too broken down to make the difference that gets them over the hump.

I think Harden will be a big time help. But theres a smart way to do it that maximizes the value of our assets and brings in extra talent. Or, theres the way Morey might do it... which just gets you Harden.

I am not saying I agree or disagree with you, just playing devils advocate.  Harden gives you a shot for a title this year.  Haliburton and Hield make you better, but you aren't even getting to the Finals.

Not sure about that. Theyre just about up to the 1 seed already. They may get there just with the group the have right now. Imagine those 2 as re-inforcements. Thats a huge help for a team that may already be the 1 seed.

Come on man!  They aren't getting past the second round with this group.  We were #1 seed last year, how did that work out?  Home court doesn't seem to matter that much anymore.  A top 3 seed is all you need.

Embiid was hurt and sluggish, and Simmons was makign the team easy to defend.

As of now, Embiid is healthy, and Simmons isnt bogging down the offense. And, they can have more talent added, which they also didnt have last year either.

Bench is much better this year but we lack rebounding and defense.  Tobi has to be confident and consistent for us to advance to the 3rd round.  How often does that happen?  I guess it could happen if Seth averaged like 22ppg in that series.

And now his hammy is acting up again.

He isn't as efficient has he has been. Look at his per 36 this year compared to previous years.

41.4% this and 47.1% FG last, 33.2% and 36.6% from 3.

Tobi doesnt necessarily have to be great on offense when he also has Haliburton and Hield chipping in. You could actually use Harris more on the boards then rather than trying to have him space the floor.

For the record, I would like the Haliburton/Hield deal.  I think I just like trading for Harden this trade deadline, better.  Assuming Maxey is not included.

All depends on matchups, the East is deeper this year with all the injuries in the West.

Read Maxey won't be traded.

I don't doubt that, but again, I don't think he'd need to be as efficient.  Even less efficient he's still a step up from our #2 option. Defenses needing to account for him on the perimeter would open things up more for Embiid on the inside. And defenses needing to key on Embiid on the inside makes it a lot easier for him to get to the rim. We would be much more dangerous.

What about Curry, Ben, 1st and whatever filler is needed for Harden and Joe Harris?  I know he is done for the year but he is 30 and is signed for 2 more years after this.  He can replace the Curry role but is also 4 inches taller.

I’m with @HazletonEagle.  Making a trade for decent players/better depth and then going after Harden in the summer is the right move.  Putting all the eggs in the Harden basket at the deadline is pretty dumb (and isn’t going to happen).

I hear you.

But, Im of the opinion that its best to maximize assets.

Also if you just did the Kings deal right now, you may find a better opportunity than Harden in the summer.

Haliburton's shooting, age (contract), defense and length would be much needed on this team.  Are we sure he is definitely available?

get me beal & put him on the wing to take korky & danny green's minutes. now that's a huge upgrade.

and screamin' a says.....

If you dig into the stats a bit more you see his isn't as good from 3 on catch and shoot vs creating his own shot. It might not be as big of an issue but is just something to notice.
