Clearing space for Simmons and Harris.

Theesomes are hot.

Lol. In seriousness though there’s only two things they could be doing here. Preparing to trade Lillard as they going to go full rebuild or trying to clear enough space knowing someone like James Harden is going to be available this off-season and potentially Lavine (bulls haven’t got a deal done yet) and beal (if he opts out) to team up with lillard.

If they are trading Simmons to the Blazers, the Sixers should want Simons, not Dame.

Other half of the trade.

Other than Josh Hart I haven't even heard of those other dudes.  If they wanted slop for CJ we should've sent Kork, Green, Springer and a pick swap or something.

portland also got a protected 1st and two 2nd's.

Basically the blazers save 18.6 mil in Cap and satoransky likely buyout candidate or gone at tend of the year clears another 10.

[Sturm] The Nets are looking to see if there is a market for injured guard Joe Harris, while the Sixers are looking for a way to move Tobias Harris -- potentially to clear cap space in the summer to sign Harden outright

The only issue with going after Ayton is that he’s a restricted free agent this off-season. I’m guessing the suns would match any offer the Blazers give him. I think the suns know that. Why they are willing to wait cause that’s always the trump card. could always wind up trading Ayton down the road even on the contract he’s gonna have if that’s happens.

You don't want that contract

Blazers having cap space to sign Harden is good for the Sixers if you want them to trade for him.  Now there is a team with legit space for him to walk to and they would get nothing.  Gives the Sixers some leverage for a trade now or a sign and trade in the off-season.

They waited because Savor is cheap as F. Heck, they didn't pick up the option on Jalen Smith.

Blazers also might be able to be able to make his 3rd year so expensive thst Suns can't match with Booker, Paul, Bridges and Shamet making 97 million that year.

Tbh I actually think the nets could benefit trading joe Harris and Harden to get someone Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons. When you get to the playoffs  they are going to run into the bucks again. They don’t really have anybody both sides Kevin Durant that can try to guardian and slow him down. Ben Simmons gives you that. With Durant, Kyrie (assuming mandate gets lifted) and Harris I think you have enough office of fire power along with defensively someone who can at least make Giannis work for everything he gets and take some of that pressure off of Kevin Durant defensively.

The issue becomes they have a massive hole  on the wing if they do that trade but I’m guessing in the buyout market there’s going to be someone there they can plug-in. Thad young is likely going to be a buyout candidate.

Good call on calling CJ to Pelicans earlier this week.

I don’t disagree that sarver waited because he’s a cheap ass. That’s always been his problem. Going back to Joe Johnson where they probably would’ve won a title if they signed them. however they also waited not just because sarver was cheap but because they know the ultimate card they have is they’ll just match whatever rookie max extension he gets.

However I will bet you anything if the Blazers give him a contract they will match it. The Blazers can do whatever they want he’s getting a rookie max contract from anybody that’s going to sign him as a restricted free agent. So the suns already know that going into it.  Living out here and listening to all the beat writers and the scoops they get they aren’t going to let him just walk away. also comes from some former coaches under former Arizona coach Sean Miller. The suns want him back and they knew they didn’t have to do it at that time due at worse they just match the the offer. Additionally DeAndre Ayton and his family loves the Phoenix/Arizona area and doesn’t want to move from that area. Hence why he chose arizona for college. I will bet a lot of money he is back with the Phoenix Suns next year unless they get a trade offer they love

even if Portland did do that in the third year of the contract, the cap is going up like it did this past year. Additionally the suns have never been afraid to throw away draft picks. So I’m guessing in that situation they’d likely look to move on from shamet and unload him with picks to a team tanking like Okc is doing now.

But he could negotiate an early opt out, 15% trade kicker and make his contract 10,10, 40 or something outrageous. Most likely he would be back but Simons and Ayton is a nice young core.

They had that on realgm.

Is amazing how with other teams you see a report and it happens.

With the 6ers there's just rumors and Morey Fing every opportunity up.

I don’t disagree with you that Portland would make a run at him. Makes sense if you are rebuilding and want that young core. I’d do it just because why not you have nothing to lose

I just don’t think it’s likely that Portland would be able to get him away from Phoenix because Phoenix has in their back pocket where they can just match. Would it suck for Phoenix if Portland did all those things and Phoenix had to pay the price for it? Yeah but he wants to be in Phoenix and the suns want him they just know they could afford to wait due to him being a RFA and worse case scenario they just match it

I think the biggest danger for the suns is if he takes the qualifying offer this offseason so that he could become a unrestricted free agent in 2023. Far fetched but i guess if you pissed him off enough he might consider it.  The reason that becomes big is because it would be an unrestricted free agent after the 22-23 season. that becomes a danger zone for Phoenix as there would be a chance he walks away and likely nothing or minimal return in a sign and trade.

things working in the suns advantage is over the next couple years the salary cap is expected to go up. Next year, it’s supposed to be at 121 million which is up 7.6%. Additionally if it came down to how they structured that contract with a 3rd year they would likely trade off picks to get rid of Shamet so that they could clear space. The suns have done things of that nature before even when they didn’t have that type of issue you are talking about. They would deal first for cash. (Cheap but i know the suns want ayton back as they believe he’s a centerpiece going forward— told by coach on Arizona now that was with the suns FO last year). Additionally the suns could always wait until that year comes up at $40 mil then trade him and likely get more than what they’re going to get back when he signs as a restricted free agent offer as he’s still very young and likely much better at that point.

But what stars will want to go there, realistically?

So basically what I said they’re either doing a complete rebuild or they’re trying to create cap space to go after a max type player and better pieces to put with Lillard. It actually works in Portland‘s favorite either way. Because if they’re not able to get that max player then Damian Lillard can ask to be traded and they can start the rebuild completely. Now if they get that max player and viable pieces then you have two guys together that you probably believe makes youre a title contender.

frankly I don’t see a max type player (non rookie max extension) like harden, beal or Lavine  going to Portland.
