[Dumas] This likely comes down to the 3p deadline. Sixers hopeful for a package of James Harden, Patty Mills, and Bruce Brown. Nets are hopeful for a package of Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Matisse Thybulle, and Andre Drummond.

Id say maybe it if we knew we had a Tobi trade in place that provides frontcourt depth. Or knew we could sign Thompson on a buyout.

But as of now I dont see how we can give up that package.

If we are giving up Drummond, we need to get Aldridge back.

Is there any chance that if we don't trade for Harden, we still move Tobi to create cap space and get back a couple role players?

So you’re punting on the season?  Or hoping to remain competitive while clearing cap?

Get Young from the buyout market and ask for Aldridge back in the trade.  He is averaging 13.4 ppg while playing 23 minutes.

i doubt it. i think the tobi trade rumors are posturing to make the nets think we'll just sign harden in the offseason if they don't trade him now.  i don't think morey would punt on this season by moving tobi for lesser players.

Yeah.  They'd do an offseason dump to OKC or some other team with space.  No rush if they're not getting Harden.

This.  If Tobi is our #2 option, we won't be good enough anyway.

Harden is covering his ass if he’s not traded, not to look like the guy he is.

I dont think theyre just going to throw Aldridge in.

Thad Young does nothing to fill the void at backup Center that Drummond would leave.

Sounds to me like we can get Harden for next to nothing if we wait until the off season. I'm not giving up much more than Ben at this point.

yep

My gut tells me that ultimately it will end up being Simmons, Thybulle, Curry, and picks. There’s no way Morey can include Drummond with no other legit backup center on the roster. Only possibility of shipping Drummond is if he’s also got a deal to move Tobi and get a Drummond replacement through that trade.

Too much. Harden will be a Sixer at the start of next season one way or another. When Butler forced his way into Miami we only got Josh Richardson in return. Brooklyn has no bargaining power in the off season. None.

Is their cap still clean in the offseason?  I know SGA signed a large extension.  I'm not sure if even that is enough to put them over but there may also be some dead money from the large contracts they took on and moved before.

Except, then theres no one to start at the 4 other than Niang. And who backs him up?

You need to be able to trade Harris for someone like Grant or Myles Tuener, and sign Thompson on a buyout to have your starting 4, and backup 5 replaced.

I’m not saying it isn’t too much, I’m saying what I think will happen. Harden is Morey’s man crush.

That’s Morey’s job to figure out. He’s supposed to be some kind of rockstar GM right? 🙄

i guess.

i like regular season drummond but he seems like a guy other teams would target in the playoffs....either drawing him out of the paint on defense or fouling him on purpose on offense. if they can find anyone halfway decent on a buyout or trade, i wouldn't let drummond be the reason to decline a harden trade.

They could have up to 51 million next season.

I don't think Morey is a fool and we know he's patient. Morey will get him in the offseason and he knows it. At this rate we might be able to get Harden in the offseason for pennies on the dollar and trade Ben somewhere else.

yeah but hes not. all he has ever done is trade for Harden.
