The first tweet makes no sense.  They have no leverage.  They either take the deal we want for Harden, or they end up with nothing in off season.  Sixers have all the leverage.  We are not giving away everything for Harden when we can get him for free in offseason.

but they probably believe they have a great shot at winning the championship this season if their big 3 are all healthy for the playoffs. and maybe harden will re-sign with them if they do win it.

And if they wait until the offseason and Harden decides he wants to go somewhere else in free agency instead of Philly?

[Matt Moore] Trailblazers in talks for Jerami Grant + more league intel

https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/nba-trade-deadline-rumors-intel-ben-simmons-james-harden-lakers-knicks-2022

  • Miami Heat possibly looking to flip a 1st with Duncan Robinson for an upgrade

  • Blazers are negotiating a deal for Jerami Grant

  • Raptors are entertaining discussions for Goran Dragic - Mavs and Hawks interested

  • Dwight Powell is available from Mavs - Brunson and Finney Smith are not

  • Hardaway Jr for Dinwiddie was discussed but shelved

  • Grant Williams has been made available alongside Dennis Schroder - Bucks VERY interested

  • Robin Lopez and Terrence Ross both worth a 1st to Magic

  • Everyone bar Kyle Kuzma is available in Washington

  • Kelly Olynyk and Cory Joseph are available in Detroit

  • Utah and Atlanta look like they will stand pat now

I dont see how we dont offer a 1st to the Magic for Ross and put Green's arse on the bench or ship him in that deal.

the only leverage the nets have is that they believe they can win a title once Durant returns with harden and kyrie this season. so they believe they don’t make a trade unless they are blown away by an offer and willing to take nothing in the offseason for harden if he walks. Frankly i think that’s foolish now if harden is putting out there he wants out and to Philadelphia. Get the feeling he’ll just pull what he did in Houston if unhappy. The fact Durant liked that post saying that speaks volumes cause I’m guessing he’s told Durant similar or Durant has heard similar.

in the offseason the leverage is completely on the sixers side. It’s why i think the sixers aren’t willing to overpay at the moment to get harden knowing this offseason the cost drops significantly to what the nets are asking.

Tbh i think at this point harden wants to reunite with morey. Listening to some podcasts from national reporters over the past 2 weeks that seems to be what they are hearing.

i know like why is everyone assuming he's going to sign here for free if we get embarrassed and knocked out in the first round, he wouldnt want to come here.

Doesn’t take much to have a change of heart before then. These dudes recruit each other constantly. Always the chance of some superstar getting in Harden’s ear and convincing him to join him somewhere.

yup, like jimmy butler changed his mind and went to the heat.

plus, the sixers need to make moves to create cap room to sign him....at the very least adding picks to tobi to get another team to take his contract. and then trading simmons....to......???????

I’d be willing to bet he still chooses the sixers in this case. He would still have morey in Philly (who he apparently loves) and embiid as a superstar. So he has 2 of the things he would want and really the key being morey who other teams don’t have. I also don’t think it was a coincidence that there was a report of tampering issues because I’m betting there definitely was talk between morey and harden’s camp knowing what was going down behind the scenes with the nets and then this blew up the past couple weeks.

morey being stubborn as he is, he's probably going to keep simmons until the end of his contract, hate to say it.

Yeah ok.

Jimmy butler did not change his mind. Jimmy butler was never going to re-sign with a sixers unless they gave him a five year max contract (especially if everything contractually was even with Miami having no state income tax) and the Sixers didn’t want to do that. Jimmy butler went to Miami (besides no 5 year max) because the 76ers decided Ben Simmons was more important to the future then giving Jimmy Butler 5 year max and trading Ben Simmons (along with firing Brett brown).

there’s even more into that that if Jimmy Butler re-signed with the Sixers, Tobias Harris was out (there was that report he was gone if that occurred), they would’ve had to also trade Ben Simmons at that point in time (also reports leaked Butler didn’t like or want to play with brown and simmons) and likely fire brown relatively close to that point in time just to make it work with Jimmy Butler. In hindsight they probably should’ve done all that but at that point in time they valued simmons, Harris and brown over butler with a bunch of miles on him on a 5 year max when he was 33 and 34.

Dallas clearing cap space for the offseason?

Not sure why Toronto makes the move for porzingis unless they are going to try and flip him as an expiring contract at the end of the 22-23 season and get draft picks for taking him. Cause frankly he’s hurt a lot and nowhere worth that contract for 2.5 more years. he’s a taller and more broken down version of siakam and siakam is shooting 35% from 3 and porzingis is shooting 28%.

I don't get it for Toronto either, unless they think they can move Siakam for something else they really want.

The only way I think it makes sense for Toronto is if in the 23-24 offseason they are gonna use the picks Dallas gives them for taking on Porzingis’ contract and his expiring contract to trade to get somebody they want. Otherwise you’re just taking on a bad contract for two years. Maybe they look to deal siakam with those picks they get in order to pull a player they want. Then trade porzingis when he becomes an expiring contract.

Ujiri is way too smart to take that contract on without a plan to somehow get value from it.  If it happens, it will be for a good reason.  There aren't many executives in sports I would blindly trust to always make the smart move but he is one of them.
