I keep seeing on Youtube suggested videos of Screamin A saying we will regret trading Ben and the Nets won the trade. Um...wasn't he screaming for months that we were wasting Embiid's prime and that ownership was being stupid by not trading Ben? Now we will regret...checks notes...what he was demanding we do last week?

Why does anyone listen to guys like him or Bayless?

He also went off last week saying if Justin Jefferson played in a warmer place he’d have better numbers. Meanwhile Minnesota plays in a dome.

No comparison.

what he did to tiki is reason enough for him to receive a curb job. he broke the damn code.

on the trade, the sixers got something. hopefully this can bring some hardware this season.

I definitely think it gives them a better shot at winning it this year. I still think there’s gonna be issues incorporating everyone into their roles and into the offense with just about a month and a half til the playoffs start. If they can somehow avoid Milwaukee until the Eastern conference finals I think they get to the Eastern conference finals just based off talent alone. Because I think they beat Miami in a series because in the end Joel Embiid, maxey, Harris and James Harden wind up just being better than Butler, Lowry and Bam. Unless doc really just flounders that away which at that point I’d fire him.

I really think next year you’re gonna see this team go to another level when they get more time together. And at the deadline if Harris isn’t fitting with Harden and embiid I think you’re gonna see another big move. I think there’s another domino off-season or next trade deadline that is coming. I don’t think James Harden was the only move that Darrell Morey had in mind.

The key will be for the team to

1. Convince him they are comitted without offering him the 4 year max (or 5 year super max if he opts in)

2. Get him to opt in somehow, while not showing him we are fully committed long term.

We will have a hard time trading a Harden who didnt look like a fit here, when the team comes up short in the playoffs again, on a new huge 4 year contract.

We will have a much easier time trading Harden on a gigantic expiring contract after he opts in to that final year. This will make it look like WE were the ones just using him as a stepping stone. Rather than it looking like he threw a tantrum and wanted out of a 3rd team in 3 years when we didnt offer the max or super max deal.

Its going to require expert tip toeing these next few months.

If they just sign him to a long term deal, 4 or 5 years we are pretty much screwed.

If that's the case it's basically a win this year or trade the guy. I guess they get to see how he plays with Embiid and if they don't win they shouldn't offer him a 5 year contract this summer unless they want to get stuck with someone on the decline in cap hell with no firsts. Simmons as a cap dump doesn't fly with me though. They could have taken a longer term approach if that was the case.

yeah....

The only thing that would make it ok is if this team wins the finals. But I dont really think thats even that likely.

Its going to require a huge adjustment for everyone to play with Harden. And of course, there wont be a lot of time.

i doubt morey would trade harden this offseason...unless something really blew up. harden is his guy.

heck, the tinfoil hat wearing side of me even wonders if this wasn't the plan all along. rockets refused to deal with morey so harden gets traded to the nets as sort of a placeholder team...then to philly from there.

[Lauren Rosen] Tyrese Maxey on playing with James Harden and Joel Embiid together: "It’s 2 MVP-caliber players, on top of what we have here already. I think one thing that’s really going to help us - the chemistry, and the brotherhood that we have here... It’s going to be great. I can’t wait."

I think Harden eventually is going to opt in to that contract. It’s $47 mil And then ask for a four year max extension. It will be $270 million which is more than what he’s ever gotten over a five-year period and his entire career earnings. If you don’t give him that Max after he opts in then you’re likely dealing with what the Nets had too and the Rockets had too. I also find it harder some team at 33 gives him the max so at the deadline I’m doubting you’d get a good return. Plus i don’t see morey making this deal unless he knew harden was here past this year. I think Harris is more likely deal especially as i think morey was trying too this season

Screamin A on Mike right now and Charles coming up in a bit.  Both there to argue that the Nets won the trade.  Even if Ben's role is now a lot more reduced, is he miraculously no longer a master turtle'er?  Is Kyrie no longer the freaking weirdo he is?  Yeah, if they are all there mentally and physically, they are still better than us.  Those are a lot of ifs...

There is very little time to see if he and Joel get along together, and play well on the court. Thats a scary looking contract for an old guy who has already declined in fitness and ability.

He can be looking like a train wreck by year 1 or 2 of that deal and we are going to be stuck. No one will trade for that contract.

27th pick this year and something years from now don't matter nor does Curry. A backup center on a one year deal wouldn't matter either if they had someone else to take minutes from Embiid. I think they could have done it for a bit less but the deal got done.

Now, if Simmons has been working on FT and 3s the past 4 months just to prove people wrong...then sure the Nets won. He hasn't shown anything to make us believe that is possible, but he was cured of his mental health issues overnight, so we'll see.

This doesn't mean it was the right deal but I don't think they lost.

The thing that’s even more irritating with Kyrie Irving than anything is he took himself out of two title contending teams because of his attitude in Cleveland and Boston. On top of it even since his days at Duke he’s missed games. In 11 NBA seasons, he’s only played in 75% of the games five times. He’s only played in 60 games or more in five of those 11 seasons. It is not just him getting his vaccine, he’s perpetually hurt every other year of his career. Heck at Duke he missed the majority of his only season there.

I think Kyrie Irving is super talented. He is definitely a star type player but I think he is also overrated. I thought when Kevin Durant went to the Nets he should’ve tried to get a different Star than Kyrie because he’s unreliable

That said, the best thing that could possibly happened to the Nets is that mandate gets lifted down the road before the playoffs so that doesn’t have the wear and tear he usually does in a season. so he might actually finish the playoffs without getting hurt.

This is one thing that I don't think Ben thought about. This team bent over backwards to coddle him, he's not going to get that with a Durant led team.  Durant couldn't care less about getting along.  Hell, he had a "family" type atmosphere in Golden State and could have stayed there and won many more rings, but bolted, because he wants to be the big dog.  This is going to be Ben the first time that Durant shows his true colors

The national media so badly wants the Nets to be relevant.

There are more Nets' fans at ESPN and FS1 than in Brooklyn.

Is Ben playing for them tonight?  I hope he does.  It will make him look so bad.  The more crap he has to deal with, the weaker he will become, if that is even possible.

I have been of the thought you’re going to get 3 and praying to the basketball gods maybe four good years left of James Harden. My thought has always been they’re going to give him that contract anyways cause I see morey doing that. The last two years of that contract it might not be very pretty and likely stuck in it until it becomes an expiring contract or hope someone pulls another westbrook type trade.

The problem is Durant is also a mental weakling. Remember the shoes he released with all the slights on the soles? He couldn't handle being called out for joining GS.

Durant is an unreal talent. But he's not Michael. He's not LeBron. He's not Larry or Magic. He can't lead a team and elevate those around him. He never has.

He very well could’ve been working on it this entire time but when it comes into a critical moment down the stretch of a important game that’s completely different than him practicing it. We heard for years in practice that he makes it much more than he was in games. That’s a mental block as much as it is just practicing it

Suns and Pacers discussed Ayton for Sabonis.

Ayton is going to be a restricted free agent. Are the Suns going to be cheap and not want to max him?

let's be honest....that probably matches up with embiid's window as well...even though he's younger. this was definitely an "all in" move to get a ring while jojo is in his prime. maybe it will work...maybe it won't.  after that, it's full rebuild time anyway.

Sarver is always cheap
