Well,  that's if you believe a deal was never agreed to.

Remember, there were 2 stories.  1 was that they never agreed because Maxey wasn't included. The other was that a trade was done but Fertitta nixed it because he refused to allow a deal with Philly. 

A deal was agreed to though.  Ben was packed.

The Sixers had Jimmy Butler, a guy who loves to win AND apparently got along with Embiid. They let him walk out the door.

The team’s upside with Harden is great, but now you have to worry about the soap opera and the final years of the awful contract that’s coming.

I’m guessing some of this goes back to Lebron as Simmons’ agent is rich Paul. the media doesn’t want to crap on simmons cause then they’d have to deal with issues with Lebron and they don’t like to do that or lose that access.
