Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Reports?  From locals or national guys?

They're not reports, just beat writers who know nothing killing time and posting clickbait. And agents trying to boost their clients. If there's really a "source" for the reporter it's an agent. When you see a story that says six teams are interested in X, the guy who might actually know that would be his agent. And it was probably two teams.

Disagree. So you rather pass on a fletcher cox because you have a need at wr and the player isn’t worthy? That’s how you get jarrett the safety who was a complete bust.

That depends how you view the players likely to be there at #21 surely?

I’m going to go on a limb he’s going to be the best available player at 21. I think he’s a top 15 player if not top 10. He’s a better player than brown.

Desean they got. Surprisingly it was esp actually got that. And then they said chip didn’t like Mccoy and he was gone a couple weeks later. Michael Bennett they also had smoke saying he wouldn’t be back after 2018 and then they dealt him.

True. Most of the time they just say stuff to get the fans going.

Interesting, Kinlaw just fell in the mock draft I just did.  He is a top 10 pick and a game changer in any draft, far more value than 99.9% of Wrs.... no way you could pass that kind of opportunity.  I agree his comp might be Fletcher Cox.  Unless something weird is going on with the medical, I don't see any way this happens.  Floor would be 16 to ATL I would think...

I'm not arguing his talent though. But you have to factor in need too.

He really would. Incredible.

I couldn't get on board with Kinlaw. Like the player, but Cox will be here another 3-4 years. Hargrave is here another 3-4 years. Kinlaw would be a rotational player at a position that is already loaded. It's not the pick of Kinlaw in itself I'd dislike, it's passing on other issues. You only have so many premium resources to invest for your team and they'd simply put far too many at one position. It would be akin to having Julio Jones and DK Metcalf and taking a WR at 21.

We don't necessarily know that and in fact it's unlikely he is.

I'd be on board with Kinlaw if we had done something at WR. But that chasm is just too big to ignore.

I edited it I meant to say Hargrave.

I think there’s a lot of misdirection before the draft from sources. However this dillard thing wasn’t just brought up today. It is a Continuation from the combine. How real it is i can’t determine. I know besides kempski, Mclane had an article on it. Zangaro and Berman discussed it on their podcast around the combine. And McMullen today put stuff out there.

Fair enough bud. Yeah I mean Hargrave figures to be around quite a long time.

No do i don’t. When a potential fletcher cox is there i don’t need to weigh well should i go get a wide receiver who doesn’t have close to that type of ceiling. I’m taking kinlaw. Bad teams make decisions on needs and then 5 years later are wishing they took the pro bowl player and the guy they took isn’t nearly that player but that was a need they filled for that particular season.

He isn't thinking that far ahead. This is Jimmy with an axe to grind. He gets like this sometimes, and now, with nothing to do and nowhere to be he's fixating. Jimmy certainly knows the team better than I do but this notion that the Eagles will just dump Dillard with only Mailata to play the position and nobody else on the roster who plays tackle is just nuts. I could see it if they can get their hands on Andrew Thomas and get a good package for Dillard but that ain't happening. He was decent at LT last year and hopeless at RT. Lots of guys can't switch sides; more can't than can. He has to get stronger and the only way he doesn't is if he's lazy. I haven't heard that said about him. Suggestions that he's immature or gets frustrated, maybe. But he's got the feet and the technique. He Beat reporters work on a 24-hour news cycle so the one thing they don't have is time and Jimmy, who has nothing new to say, is churning his bile here.

I just can't see it, but then, I thought Tommy Hearns would knock out Marvin  Hagler, so what do I know?

If we move on from Dillard, we obviously would have another LT lined up, whether it’s trading for Williams, drafting on or signing Peters.

Herd instinct. They have nothing else to talk about.

We would certainly have to.

Bad GMs put themselves in a position where they have little choice. Perhaps we are going to find out more about Howie this weekend.

This I don't agree with. 1-3 years, maybe. But if you have to wait 5 years to see the brilliance of a draft pick, then it probably was not a good pick. Those 5 years count too. If you take a player who may not be quite as good long-term as Kinlaw, but still significantly adds to your team for 5 years while you still have Cox and Hargrave manning the middle, that's the better alternative to me.

"Know nothing.” Nah. They might not have the complete picture, but they know stuff.

Hines Ward, Mike Wallace, Emmanuel Sanders too

Also Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes.  I believe that makes SEVEN Pro Bowl WR's the Steelers have drafted since 1998.

That's the Gold Standard of WR drafting.

Only have an hour and half in the office. Can't wait for the draft.

He did say we were after Brandin Cooks, which is interesting.

We've been after Cooks since before he was drafted.  He's truly our white whale.

Hopefully that doesn't mean we reach for a poor man's version now...

people said the same thing with Bennett, McCoy and desean. They turned out to be right. They’ve gotten a ton wrong in the past as well. I also don’t think it’s their own opinions. I believe they have sources telling them such. Which brings the question who the heck is leaking it

Martavis Bryant was a monster until he fell off the wagon.

I've been trying to get the Super Bowl thread archived as best as I can and just spotted this post that I made back then...
