Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

How much do you guys put into the fact that of the 3 big names rumored today, Clowney is the only one that will cost you nothing but money?

And btw, Clayton was on the radio earlier and I believe I heard him say the price might be down to around $9M.  Could be wrong about that.

Who’s the other big name? I know peters and clowney. Is it ngakoue or Freeman?

Yannick and Jamal Adams.

Hmmm I’d choose ngakoue out of all three. Young and plays a position the eagles covet. Plus i think his price continues to drop as the days pass. If he goes past the franchise tag deadline it hurts the Jaguars even more as you can’t negotiate a new deal and lower his cap number. i Also think the jaguars you could convince to take Barnett in a trade which opens up some cap space in 2021 to put towards ngakoue.

Griffen seems realistic.

I actually think he’s the one that makes the most sense tbh. Price range and i think he can be used like the eagles did with Chris long in his role.

Yep, forgot about him.  Costs just money as well.

I wonder how much diff there would be in price between the 2 of them, however.

Would you pay $9M for Griffin?

I would take Griffen over Clowney in a heartbeat for a variety of reasons.  No need to explain them all, they are (or should be) obvious.

I’d need to know the cap number cause i don’t want to spend 9 million in cap cause i want cap space to roll over into 2021

It's a grey area.

Are NFL players going to be allowed to leave their homes?  Will somebody who is seen at a gathering and then tests positive be fined?  What about the player who caught it while staying home but somebody in his household went out and came back and gave it to him?

How do you enforce any of that without a "Bubble" situation?

That's where the insurance comes in, doesn't it?  I don't know how this works, but I'd think that these guys would all insure themselves against things like this, wouldn't they?  That would be SOP for me as an agent to advise these guys to get the insurance for 'Long-term disability' and contract insurance due to injury.

Most people get paid their salaries but game roster bonus checks seem like a big ask.  Not playing, no check. Really good chance if positive the source wasn’t through player exposure.

Why would you expect that Griffen would command $9M, especially at this point in the offseason?

Equal money?

Not sure I agree.  Clowney's a hell of a player, warts and all.

One thing to keep in mind, Schwartz doesn't take Washburn's approach to the wide 9.

He wants his DEs to pinch on the edge, take away the outside run and the QB scramble, and not put their head down and blindly rush the QB.

Which is why I don't expect Graham or Barnett to put up double digit sacks if they're doing their job correctly.

The "sack" guys come off the bench (Sweat, Avery, etc) to speed rush on 3rd and long or so.

So I doubt either Ngakoue or Clowney would be good fits at their price.

I have NO idea what these guys will be commanding.  Clayton floated that, but he could be way off.

We are going to have a new challenge in here. Explain the most meh player in the most Baldy style possible.

Now let's take a look at Jamar Chaney.  7th round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, LB from Mississippi St. that eclipsed over 100 total tackles in 5 years of college football.  When I look at Chaney on film, the first thing that comes to mind is explosion and speed.  For 2-3 games of his entire career, he was on an all-pro and HOF trajectory.  I mean take a look at this sideline to sideline speed reminding us of Patrick Willis.  You can't teach that, and here he is shedding a block, and BOOM......cuts the lane in a zone scheme and has 1 of his 3 interceptions for his whole career.  A raw talent.....and the Eagles got themselves a steal in the 7th.

He floated that for Clowney.   If that's where Clowney with his ridiculous unrealized contract demands have fallen to, where would Griffen's go?  A guy who is 7 years older?

Look at the contract the Eagles gave Chris Long (signed at 31) at a similar time in his career to Griffen.   There's no way that Griffen is going to command anything close to $9M at age 32.   He's a low cost, veteran depth piece to put in behind Derek Barnett and/or Brandon Graham.  He would not be signed to start, but to provide quality pass rush in a limited role.  No way he gets anything close to $9M.   I'd be shocked if he got anything over $4M and likely less than that.
