I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Because I can't see them signing both to long term deals that they will both be happy with.

Ok. Doesn’t mean that’s a given. And they could re-sign one and still be fine the next two years at TE. As both are under contract through 2021. Also cause you think doesn’t mean it’s a given. Just like my point Jackson is likely not here next year and cox at 31 won’t be what he was at 27. At this point they are here for the next two years until they deal one.

I don’t see how in any scenario DT is a bigger need in 3 years than corner, WR, center, guard, safety, or DE

That’s great if there was a player at 21 of kinlaw’s caliber I’d make the argument to go one of those positions. I’m guessing there isn’t cause kinlaw shouldn’t be there. He’s the third best or 4th best defensive player in this draft.

so i should by pass a potential blue chip prospect at DT because we have a pressing need at WR and the guys at wr To choose from are Not nearly the prospects kinlaw is at DT? That is how bad teams miss out on pro bowl players. And they wind up regretting it.

What happens if the clock runs out and the pick isn’t in yet?

Roger Goodell does a strip tease in front of the world.

Assuming he's healthy he's good enough to fill our GLARING need for a speed receiver who can play.  Plus that means we can let the draft come to us instead of being desperate for a WR.

Seriously wondering

I hope everything Adam Caplan has said leading up to the draft is wrong just to put him in his place. His condescending attitude rubs me the wrong way.

Usually it just skips to the next team up. This year sounds like they will pause the draft until a pick is in or trade is done

Our drafting has been relatively poor if Dillard is a hit or not.  We got lucky with cheap veteran free agents to win our Super Bowl.

I think he's really the tipping point.

Many argue that LT is the most important position on the field.  If we got our LT of the future at #22 overall last year, then things are looking OK, even with the other drafting issues.  Pour this draft into WR, next into DE, and we are good to go.

If we botched another first round pick, things deteriorate to a level of hopelessness.  We don't have a single young drafted player on the entire roster from the last 5-6 years besides Wentz and a RB who pencils in nicely as a starter for the future.  For the future, we'd need WR x3, DE x2, LT...and it sure feels like the current scouting situation will just get sub-par players for those holes anyway.

Dillard HAS to work out.  I don't even care what they do with their first round pick tonight if they move Dillard.  It won't matter.

So we're back to trading Dillard? Geez

Haha apparently so. That one isn't going to go away is it...

Honestly Goodwin has a very Torrey Smith feel too it. Not sure how productive he be now at 29 but he’s better than what we have and if you can restructure his deal to lower his cap for a year I’d take the chance depending on the compensation we have to give up.

Dillard was "fine" last year. I'm not moving on him from him unless another team offers us a 1st rounder.

I am trying to get away from being thought of as annoying and negative, especially with the fresh new boards.

But I'll say one thing...I have no idea if these reports are total BS or not...but if they move Dillard during the draft, then just pack it in.  That's the last straw.  They'll have botched nearly every high pick besides Wentz.  They can't move forward with a need across the board at WR, 2 DE's for the future, and now an LT...especially when they've proven that they lack the aptitude to draft any of them.  If Dillard goes down as a miss, that's the tipping point.  There would be no where near enough talent to realistically talk SB...every single solid player on the team would be a vet on a pricey contract acquired via trade, FA, or inheritance.   They'd need a totally new room of guys doing the draft.  Enough is enough.

I think one of the more frustrating things is that over the years the Eagles have brought in multiple guys from the Steelers and Ravens organizations, and the Alabama program, along with other guys from other organizations and programs.   I remember being hopeful about some of these hires because they were coming from programs with strong draft records, or strong talent pipelines.

But for some reason that never seems to have consistently translated to the draft each year.     There have been too many misses on high draft picks, guys that contribute almost nothing, and can't even get close to being borderline average starters.

I've heard... Dillard plus a 2021 pick for #11.

Either the stories are BS and he's the LT of the future.  Or they are true...and the team with NO solution at LT and the best OL coach in the NFL is trying to unload a second year player at the position.  Good luck getting any value at that point.

Too rich for my blood. I do want to see the top 4 tackles go inside the top 10. Cause it’s really don’t think douglas wants to pick a WR at 11. I think he wants an Ot

This is why I put very little faith in it.

You can't justify this kind of move, especially if it hinders getting the right WR's in this draft in ANY way.  You can't use the "we'll get WR next year" excuse now.

It's why I believe this is an intersection of a misunderstood tweet and discarded storylines re-ignited.

Josh Rosen went for 2nd rounder after an awful rookie year. Dillard would fetch some good compensation and if we don't think he's a good fit, we should avoid the sunk cost fallacy and trade him.

I'm with @Rhinoddd50though. Missing on Dillard would be another hit to the scouting staff.

I just want to confirm that the idea is that the answer to the glaring need to get younger and healthier at WR is a WR that missed 7 games last year, 5 games the year before, and will be 30 this season.

I know that no one is suggesting that he'd be the only addition, but I don't think that the addition of Goodwin makes one bit of difference to the draft strategy.  He's too old, he's too often injured to be counted on as anything more than a band-aid, the same as Torrey Smith or Mike Wallace before him.  If he stays healthy and can contribute, great.  But, I just don't see adding him as a needle mover.

Dillard is worth more to us than he could possibly be to anyone else.  We have no LT and he has been in the system for a year.  The very willingness to trade him deflates his value to a second chance lottery ticket.
