My neighbors have a couple nice little gardens.  They bring this over to us, every couple of weeks.  They have more than they can handle.

Yup.  Gotta dry it and preserve it for the winter... or really really like pesto.

My son likes to go into the garden and just eat basil straight off the plate.   Its a nice thing.  I just need to teach him how to 'top' the plants so that they don't go to seed... they really want to right now.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Interesting isn’t the word I’d use, but I digress...

The reality is that Ward may not make the team. His biggest advantage is his familiarity with the offense but he has to push.

I’m sure it’s not in most teams’ nature but I wonder if the best thing to do would be building the team with talent over roster construction and familiarity this season. Essentially build for 2021.

Keep your talent in house and hope to develop it during a season that might not be finished, might be disrupted in many ways or ravaged with quarantines and positive Covid tests.

Not totally unrelated to Ward... get talented, speedy players in the slot. It’s a cheat code.

Sorry for the delay Manu....haven't logged on in a while.

Yes, good memory! I have been a Big Green Egg guy for several years now and absolutely swear by them (or any comparable ceramic kamado cooker...Primo, Kamado Joe, etc)

Although recently, some of the Traegers have my interest, just because of the ease and simplicity of the wifi controls. I may eventually get one of those as an addition, so I can do long cooks while not at home. But it would definitely not be a replacement for my Eggs!

I would check out Primo - still made in the USA.

Interesting perspective since it seems largely accepted by the football people I follow that Collins is really good and on a great deal and that Jaylon Smith’s deal was a bad idea.

As for Cooper, Washington offered more money so they couldn’t do OBJ’s deal. Plus those types of deals are used as the bar to clear, not reach.

Curious to know the numbers of Hardman in the slot when Watkins and hill were on the field and when they weren’t. And ditto on the outside. I think that makes a difference when Hill was out and he was forced to play the outside.

That's why I am really hoping for an expanded roster given the lack of OTAs, TC, etc.   Expand it by 10 spots, in addition to the 10 PS spots.  Ward will likely be an asset for 2020, given his familiarity with the scheme and Wentz' familiarity with him.  BUT... he's likely not a long term guy here.  So... do the Eagles try to sneak a guy like Watkins or Hightower to the PS, and run with Ward for 2020, or do they cut ties with Ward and keep the young speed guys?   I can see both sides of it.

I just asked the same basic question.   I think the Eagles lean towards the future.  They need to get younger and faster.   But, in so doing, they need to protect Wentz, which explains Peters back at RG.  I trust him to protect Wentz with his power, even at 38.

You are welcome.   Nothing tastes better than fresh from the garden veggies... other than fresh meat.

Just went out to check the zucchini plants.   Found 8 more.   Sadly, I will be pulling two plants as they are not producing good fruit any more, and will replant new zucchini, in the hopes of running this harvest straight through the entire month of September... maybe even parts of October.

This was my first summer where I'm trying to grow some herbs, but I'm not having much luck.  I probably need to spread them out more, but I planted basil, oregano, cilantro, and a ghost pepper plant all in a large pot that I keep outside.  We have rosemary in a separate small pot, because I read that it shouldn't really be close to other herbs and doesn't need much water.

The only successful one has been the basil, which we used a ton of this past weekend to make a prosciutto, mozzarella, and balsamic appetizer.  That's growing like crazy.  The cilantro is dead and has been for awhile.  The oregano and the ghost pepper plant are just stagnant.  There slight growth but not much.  The rosemary is just at a standstill too.

Any tips on how to get these plants growing?  I water them almost every day, and they definitely get enough sunlight.

Sounds like a good year to have a bunch of mid to late round picks.

Unfortunately we don’t have our fourth (Avery trade), but we have an extra 5 from the Cowboys and a couple of late comp picks.

Hightower isn't even on the roster on the official site ;)

I could see them keeping 6 with AJ starting on reserve: DJ, JJ, Ward, Watkins, Hightower, Goodwin. Good chance Goodwin doesn't even make it on the team, but if Jackson gets hurt, like we all know he will, Ward and Goodwin would be the only real vets. Hopefully, Hightower/Watkins/Goodwin will have played to the point where it won't be a hard decision when/if AJ comes off reserve.

Jaylon Smith is a huge injury risk.  Good for him, but he's not a guy you can afford to invest big money in or years.   Meanwhile, Collins is a JAG OL. But, he's the Dallas 'bonus 1st round pick', in addition to Randy Gregory that year.   That was all the news... "Dallas ends up with 3 first round picks... blah blah blah..."  Meanwhile, they have achieved nothing with 'all that talent' they added.  Collins is overrated a great deal because of who is next to him and his helmet logo.  If he played in Cincinnati, no one would talk about him at all.  He's one of their weak links on that OL.  He's an above average OL, but that's as high as I'd rate him.  And yes, if you are interested, I'd put Vaitai above Collins.  Vaitai got a smaller contract than Collins (not by much), but Collins resigned with his old team rather than on the open market, which means to me that Collins was overvalued by Dallas, IMO.

I won’t pretend like I watch a lot of Collins’ snaps so I’ll rely on the guys I follow who I think are pretty smart. They think Collins is really good.

Ya Miami is a nasty democrat cesspool is why and I’m not having football canceled due to the hysteria over that.

i manage a Cosco not only did we never close but we have to work 50 hour weeks ,and still are, over the usual 40 with increased foot traffic. Not a single worker has ever tested possitive for covid in my store.  Guess we are all "lucky.”

Um, yes you are. I work for Costco as well at corporate and there have been warehouses that had decimated staffs due to Covid. We had a death here at corporate and more than 50 positive cases.

Give them a little less sunlight - give them more room.

How big a pot is a 'large' pot?   To me a 'large pot' for that many plants would need to be at least 2 feet in diameter, but even that would be a tight squeeze at one plant of each type.

Cilantro does not like the heat, so give it about 4 up to 6 hours of full sun max.  If it gets early morning and late afternoon sun, but shade in the midday that's ideal.   I'd treat the oregano the same as the cilantro.

All peppers need at least a cubic foot of soil minimum with nothing else around them.  And they need air flow around their leaves, which means nothing should be planted closer than 18 inches away in all directions.  They work in containers, but generally not with neighbors.  If anything, maybe something like green onions around them on the perimeter of the pot... the peppers want to root out a bit.  (Disclaimer: I've never grown ghost peppers specifically, but I'm assuming the plant likes the same basic treatment of other chili peppers.)  This plant also would likely benefit from a bit of shade in mid-day.    I can't remember if Peppers need a second plant for the sake of pollination or not.  Tomatoes do not, Tomatillos do.  Peppers I've never grown by themselves, so I never worried about it.

Good luck.

In general, when a plant is grown for greens only and not the 'fruit' they produce, they are best as cool weather crops, but can be carried into warmer weather with some shade.   Herbs fall into that group, lettuce, cabbage, etc.  Perennial herbs like rosemary are less fussy about that.  Annual herbs though can also be succession planted to always have the freshest, young greens.   Don't buy the plants as starts.  Just get a packet of seeds, likely for half the price.  Just a little patience at the beginning and you are rewarded handsomely with seeds for the next 10 years if you only do a small batch.  The viability will drop off a little bit as they age.  But, mostly what happens is they just take longer to germinate as they get older.   (I had some beet seeds that were 10 years old this summer... they sprouted at almost the same rate as the newer seeds, they just took longer.)   A little tupperware container with some potting soil and the seeds can be started together, just spread the seeds out about 2 inches apart.   Once they get their first set of 'true' leaves, they can be transplanted to where you want them to go.  I use an old butter knife to 'cut a block' of soil out of the container when I am worried about their roots.  But, they are much hardier than we treat them.   Start them outdoors from the beginning in a spot that gets partial sun and you don't even need to harden them off when you transplant.  (Remember, you are going to put them in a 'partial sun' location outside anyway.  ;)  )  Container gardening with them is great though, because you can 'chase the sun' a bit as Fall arrives and extend the growing season.   If you really want to extend it, the plants can be brought in at night for frost protection as well.  But, that is more labor intensive... but highly effective.

12 PS spots and veterans like Ward would now qualify plus the SEA makes it possible to elevate two players to,the roster with some exceptions.

Very helpful - thank you!  Much like the Sixers and the Eagles last season, it sounds like spacing is the issue.  These plants are way too close together, and the pot is definitely not 2 feet.  It's probably half that size.  Didn't know that about peppers either, but I will replant that by itself later.
