Interesting nugget. Pretty sure this wasn't the Eagles, I can't think of a Pro Bowler that doesn't fit the system that would still be on this team at this point.

Wouldn’t be shocked if the jets tried to trade Adams to the jags for ngakoue. Not that he doesn’t fit but I view it there’s no way Adams is signing long term in Jacksonville but he’s a pro bowl caliber player i could see a team trading for ngakoue.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Sorry... I'm a little tired today.

If I had to guess, I'd say that that Dolphins offered Pro Bowl CB Xavien Howard. They have a big need at EDGE, signed Jones and drafted an outside CB in RD1.

I could also see a scenario where the Ravens tried to offer "Pro Bowl RB Mark Ingram" and a 2nd.

Honestly IMHO if ward makes the team by anything more than the skin of his teeth (5th or 6th) we might not have gotten much better at receiver.

Based on familiarity with the offense he's likely #1.  In terms of NFL experience (of those healthy), he's likely #3.  In terms of players ready to step in and play week 1, I'd say that Ward is likely the 2nd most prepared WR on the team (Desean being #1).

I'd put Desean as the top "Z".  Reagor should work out as the primary "X".  Ward would be the top slot.
The big question is what should they do with Goodwin, HIghtower, Watkins, and JJAW.   Goodwin in the slot, or backup Z?   Hightower at Z?  Watkins at X or slot?

They said they weren't going to work them on multiple positions... lots of questions.   And we'll see how high the coaches really are on Ward.

You are welcome.   Nothing tastes better than fresh from the garden veggies... other than fresh meat.

Just went out to check the zucchini plants.   Found 8 more.   Sadly, I will be pulling two plants as they are not producing good fruit any more, and will replant new zucchini, in the hopes of running this harvest straight through the entire month of September... maybe even parts of October.

Our Zucchini got beaten up by some kind of beetle that infests them makes it all soft. My wife read that we planted them to early and later in the season will be not beetle season. So i guess well try next year. I think we only got two zucchini and the beetles got the yellow squash as well😞

If you have seeds, start some now.   You can still salvage a bit.

Let’s dive a little more into the wide receivers and how they complement 12 personnel.

Against 12, teams tend to play more base defense, but I think against the Eagles it was actually more nickel. (I don’t recall where I saw that.) Obviously that’s great for our run game. In terms of the passing game, DCs like to play single high safety to clog the middle of the field since those are the highest efficiency throws and it keeps an extra player to help against the run.

With the popularity of cover 1 and cover 3, that can leave the corners exposed at the FS in a bind. We saw that time and again with our own defense last year.

So in 12, ideally we can move DJax to the X so Reagor can get into the lineup at Z. Paired with our aggressive and pretty accurate downfield QB, we’re going to find some appetizing 1 on 1 matchups. Provided the Eagles are right about Reagor, he is likely going to be the beneficiary of those single-high safeties shading toward DJax.

If teams want to go two-high, we’re going to run the ball and pepper Goedert and Ertz all day. Then every now and again we can pop an HB seam route to Sanders.

Obviously that’s the best-case scenario and counts on DJax’s health and Reagor being a quick study. I have my doubts on his Year 1 impact. If Goodwin makes the team, I suspect he’s going to make some big plays for us as DJax insurance. If we want to live in 12, we need players to make plays against single coverage downfield.

Not sure why the Jags would not jump on that one. If i were to pick any player from the Jets i would go with CJ mosley before Adams.. they have 2 big linebacker contracts for guys who didnt even play last year.

There is a difference between the organization recognizing a weakness and throwing numbers at it and some fans anointing a player just because they can run fast in a straight line.

Who is anointing who?

I look at it this way, Adams probably does the same crap as ngakoue but he has 2 years left Til being franchised. Basically would be in the boat where he’s going to force his way out. Probably want draft picks more than taking on headcases who’ll leave and forced to trade again

Doug said Reagor would start out at the Z behind DeSean. It’s Doug, so he probably was lying or confused.

You can probably let that one go.  Doug has never seemed confused about X's and O's.

I meant more in terms of talking to the media. Doug struggles with his messaging.

Will they be the first team to not regret a big money RB contract?

Good for him.

Honestly I would have tried to tag and trade him. We all know RBs fall off a cliff fast

Yep.  Better them then us.  Guess what teams don't win the SB.  Teams that pay RB's top dollar.

I said this before but if that's the case then we only have 3 years with Miles Sanders.  If he keeps progressing then he is going to want to get paid too.  Next years FA and draft is loaded.  Eagles would be wise to get RB1A.

I know "RBs don't matter", but I'd rather pay Derrick Henry than Ryan Tannehill. I really think the Titans' biggest mistake was signing Tannehill to that extension.

Yup. Henry is a different breed of RB in some ways, but at the same time I can't imagine being that size HELPS when it comes to wear and tear.

I wouldn't be against it, but Miles' lack of carries in college would make me feel a bit better about an extension if they decided to go that route. Still in general, I agree it's not a winning strategy most of the time.

I think Goodwin is a lock, and I would rather have Goodwin.

Goodwin is the back-up to DJax.  If DJax plays 50% of the snaps, Goodwin will play quite a bit.  Unless he is not 100% healthy or lose a good part of his speed, he would make the team.

Ward chipped in last season when the WR group was seriously undermanned.  His thing is slot receiver.  Still valuable, but not the emphasis of the offense which has changed to speed.  His roster slot depends on how the other fast young players fair in TC.
