Speaking of movies.  I suspect there is going to be a major gap in new movies and shows coming out because of Covid-19 shutdowns.  For example Stranger Things was supposed to come out earlier this month but they delayed filming.

He's in movies that common folk enjoy.  Doesn't make him a good actor.

Oh yeah lots.  Top Gun 2 was supposed to come out 2 weeks ago and now it's pushed back until Christmas.

Regarding Stranger Things, the Duffer Bros are going to have to get pretty creative with timelines and the kids going through growth spurts.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Yeah ok can’t wait for the LB duo of TJ Edwards and Nate Gerry to tear it up.

Even if Bradham got slower, he’s still the best LB. It also makes sense to bring back a signal caller during a shortened, odd offseason

I'm going to guess you don't mean the original.

Which was a good movie in its own right but the remake was better, and truer to the Elmore Leonard story. Richard Jaekel was very good in the Ben Foster part in the original.

Big time. Not only did production and filming shut down for movies, they moved basically any summer movie release back a full year. I doubt they will release any major movie until all theaters are open. International ones too.

Jaekel is one of my favorite old-timers.   He played some very interesting roles over the years.   Dirty Dozen, Chisum, Devil's Brigade.   I never watched anything because he was in it, but always enjoyed his character when he was in something.

As for the comment, I just found it ironic that this trip to Hollywood critiques started when he made a critical remark about Stranger Things creators not having any original thoughts... then mentioned a remake.

While I don't see him coming back, Bradham definitely had that LB nasty to him that I love too.  I want linebackers and safeties to be borderline A-holes.   Other teams should hate them.

I don't know who I consider a good actor anymore.  There haven't been any movies as of late where I said I have to see it because a certain guy is in it.

This is more or less where I'm at.  I don't watch nearly enough recent films to be able to say who the best actors are.  Living actors I guess I would say Dustin Hoffman, De Niro, Tom Hanks (although he gets great roles more than I think he's a great actor), Pacino.  Some actors are great in certain roles -- Jack Nicholson in The Shining, Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade, etc.

Some of my all-time favorites are Henry Fonda, William Holden, Spencer Tracy, Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando, Randolph Scott -- those were actors that I would tune into a film just because they were in it.

I watched the Efron movie after watching the tapes and it did an OK job tying it all together. I enjoyed it.  I didn't start the Amazon one yet.

Speaking of nostalgia and I'm going to contradict my previous no aliens comment but I just started to watch Alf on IDMb🤣

My wife loves Alf😄

Zodiac as well. It's not a documentary but a good detective movie that apparently was pretty accurate to how they actually investigated the Zodiac killings in the 60s/70s.

Yup, Jake Gyllenhal right?

There is also another movie docudrama about ted kazinski on i think amazon prime???. Does a good a good job.

My dorm neighbor freshman year looked JUST like Alf.  Inside joke all year with him.  The guy literally had no chin.  I have no idea how we kept his helmet on.

Lots of credit goes to those headliners... but for some reason, I find the supporting actor roles sometimes to be make or break for movies.

Ward Bond - man, was he in some amazing movies!  Never the lead, but always great.
Already talked about Jaekel.
Walter Brennan and Jack Elam were two greats in my book.

And some may laugh at this, but I always enjoyed Walter Mathau.  His version of Bad News Bears is something that Billy Bob could only dream of.  Jack Lemmon also had some great roles.   His role in Mister Roberts was a masterpiece.   Equally great in that was James Cagney!  Without those two for Ford to play off of, that movie doesn't go anywhere.

It makes sense now.  You're a Die Hard fan.  Sorry to criticize your hero.

It's a great Christmas movie. You probably prefer Hallmark though ;)

Ben Foster is probably my favorite current actor.  He was great in 310 To Yuma.  He had a small role in the Harrelson movie I saw last night, Rampart.

Agreed. He’s great in everything. He’s the best actor now that Daniel Day-Lewis has retired.

Oh... I forgot to mention that great James (Jimmy) Stewart... who could play either a supporting or lead role.  Great, great actor.

Fran has a great film review of Davion Taylor’s game against Stanford. He had to play more of a stacked LB role. He highlighted his positives and negatives. Seemed fair. As always, Fran leaves you optimistic about the player.

DDL (see that... I'm learning) was amazing in Lincoln.  Just a mesmerizing performance.  Start to finish.  Makes me wish that he had played more Lincoln roles.  Though Sam Waterston has been a great Lincoln, too.   And, of course, Henry Fonda is the quintessential 'Young Mr. Lincoln".

That's what I like about Fran.   The stats about draft pick wash outs is enough to just take the negative side.  Most picks don't work out.  But... tell me what the team sees in the player, tell me why they are high on him.  That's what I want, and that's what I've always tried to do... look at the pick through the team's eyes.   (And doing so has earned me the label of 'apologist'.   Which I wear with pride.)

Next time Bacon boy feels he needs another boost , he'll play Jon Bon Jovi to the Tee. Start wearing period Phillies Jerseys. Do the Mitchell & Ness overload. Whole Nine Yards.

Same. That goes for predraft and post draft. I always try to look at why the Eagles would like a guy.

But not even I could rationalize Pumphrey as much as I tried. He was almost assuredly going to bust.
