I had to take my son to a drive-thru testing site today. On Sunday we went to urgent care for a strep test that was negative. The fever still is hanging on so they ordered the test. My 15-month-old had a fever and a runny nose. She had a regularly scheduled checkup today and they decided to test her. Now we wait 7-10 days for both results.

Good luck. I hate to say it, but your family should self isolate until the test results are back.

    I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I think he has a right to stress that.  Underpaid teacher being asked back into school this fall with a lot less protection that NFL players. Tell me who is the hero in that scenario, the NFL player or the teacher?

Smith isn’t comparing the players to everyday people, he’s comparing the players’ risk compared to the owners’.

Yes, we’re isolating. I’m on furlough and my wife works from home. We can order groceries for contactless delivery as needed.

Probably silly but more football talk is always better for the blog so why not.

Dammit, I totally missed the movie discussion.

Praying for you an your kids, Manu.

They left out Epps.

And G-Dammit if Nate frikkin Gerry is our MLB....

Fingers crossed this goes off without a hitch.  The same thing is happening in other parts of Europe, so keep the faith.

AR is one of those.  He occasionally reaches way back for a play.  I think Doug picked that up.  I keep waiting for one of them to call the fumblerooski.

It's not legal anymore. At least the leaving the ball on the ground part. I think you can still hand the ball to a lineman but the deception doesn't really work all that well that way.

Yep, this seems like how everyone will have to approach this.  Here are the guidelines:

  • Fans must agree to a new code of behaviour that includes not attending if they potentially have symptoms of coronavirus or have been exposed to a person who has tested positive;
  • Social distancing must be observed in seating arrangements;
  • Crowd management plans should be in place, including the controlled entry and exit of fans and one-way systems;
  • Additional hygiene facilities should be installed inside venues, particularly at entrances and exits;
  • Screening procedures should be considered at stadium entrances.

I especially think the bottom 3 points could, if done well by the facility, allow for a reasonably safe experience.  Fingers crossed indeed.

Still have no idea how social distancing is going to work in seating arrangements. Like people aren't going to be sitting 6 feet apart from the person they went to the game with. And then there's just going to be open seats closer to the field that people farther back are going to move down to.

The biggest issue over here will be all of it for some football fans who will not be able to break the habit.   But it's really not hard with thought and preparation, and going to sport will be a massive boost to many businesses and fans alike. I know a lot will be fretting about a 2nd spike, but this is kind of interesting

I'd imagine it will be along the lines of seats marked as ok to sit in and fans having to wear coloured wrist bands which are checked as people move  from concourses to seats to ensure numbers are maintained. With less fans, it will be easier to spot offenders who will removed if they don't comply.

Everyone here for NFL is planning on 15 -20k people. That's a lot to enforce. I dunno, just sounds like a rule they will put in place and hope people follow the honor system

It is, don't get me wrong. If you maintain stewarding levels and filter people correctly via queues, you can make it hard enough for people to go wandering. The Linc could be a challenged, but you need to put anti-hooligan netting up over empty seats/blocks to segregate them and the job is half done. Like the below

If you are really smart you can put advertising on the top and make some money there too

Hell, put barriers on seats.  Allow 2 people to sit together, and block off the next 3 seats.  Simply take away the option of sitting next to somebody you didn't come with.  You're going to have fans sneak up as other fans leave, but decide whether you want to have stricter enforcement of those rules, or just make sure those people do not end up sitting side by side with people already down there.

Too much?

Yea, we were at 91 after taking B. Brooks off the active.

I think this means Perkins is a lock as the 3rd TE.

Well, clearly the larger picture isn't all the great.

But as far as this particular issue - how to go about keeping a large group of people safe in a controlled environment for a specific purpose - I think there are ways that would at least be a worthy starting point to test and observe.

Ultimately, it's going to be up to the league and how much money they want to spend to make sure their fans are safe.
