People really don’t understand how most government programs work. Medicaid helps hospitals and doctors get paid. Food stamps and many food programs support agriculture and agriculture jobs, maybe even at least one poster in here who sells institutional targeted food for a living. My electricity is nuclear based. Without Price Anderson, there would be no nuclear energy business and no job for my son’s college roommate and good friend, who is a nuclear engineer. You can't redefine terms to suit your political predilections. Capitalism refers to the ownership of the means of production, not the distribution of economic rents. Efficiency is not at the core of capitalism, for one thing, what kind of efficiency? Production, transactional, social, etc.? You're confusing capitalism with a market economy, you can have a socialist market economy, where the state owns everything but sets up markets to facilitate efficient exchange - electricity markets for example are artificial constructs set up by the state to facilitate electricity production. The advantage of markets is price discovery through decentralized information gathering. "Entitlements" is merely a term to describe payments that have procedural protections, i.e., claims are made according to rules established by law, for example, social security payments.
