I have one particular RN family member whose facebook posts would indicate that she should receive a medal of honor, purple heart, and nobel peace prize.  There has been some self-adulation from medical people and that does bother me.  No need to shun the praise, but it crosses the line when one demands it.

I have never felt as humbled, and quite frankly inadequate as when a vet thanked us for what we were doing at the screening tent. 

I felt as if I had stolen valor. 

We all sorta sheepishly laughed a bit while saying thanks.

Im thinking, dont place that kind of weight on my shoulders. I still dont have the balls to ever go to war. This doesnt compare. AND, Im not even one of the Drs or nurses on the COVID floor working with them constantly. Ive been exposed now numerous times, looking that lion in the face; but not nearly in the same dose as them with prolonged and repeated exposure. 

Ive not once shown my badge for a freebie in places offering it. And I wont. Health system wrote an article and posted to facebook about our athletic trainers deploying to the so called "front lines". I didnt share that on my page.

Quite honestly, I just want things to go back to normal. I just wanna go back to my regular job and tape ankles. I didnt choose to do this like a brave soldier chooses to enlist and go to war. 

Its a really nice gesture for them to say that. I do appreciate it. But it also makes me feel bad at the same time.
