Bob Quinn (Lions VP/GM) on ESPN now giving a tour of his home draft office. Pretty weird seeing a phone with literally every team listed as a speed dial option.

Edit: and he has an IT guy in a Winnebago on his driveway. Amazing.

yet the Lions stink every single year.  He might as well be holding a cup and a string

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

As good as this looks it's hard to think I got lost. 😅

Glad you found your way.

Justin Blackmon- who?

You really don't remember him? He was a monster in college, had a really good rookie year. Then got a bunch of DUI and drug arrests.

What’s there to click on? It’s a tweet. Can we come up with a different term for media people reporting things you disagree with?

And if Higgins is gone?

Reagor and then trade up for Hamler.

Definitely feels like home. Has the same look mostly, but the people are what makes this home.

I believe that’s called ESP’ing

ESP’ing is saying stupid and contrarian things for attention.

DJ is simply passing along information he’s heard.

I remember him.  It was tongue in cheek.  He was a WHO in the NFL.

Ah i gotcha. That list is certainly sobering about the success of 1st round WRs though.

Doesn't it seem like that every year, though?  The position you may want, you hear about how "everyone will be gone" and every pick at that position is unlikely to last, etc....

While there are many good WRs in this draft, I think it is also likely that several of the teams ahead of the Eagles that want to add a top WR in the draft will decide to take a different position in round 1 because they like the talent at WR they believe will be available in early to mid round 2.  In some cases, the player at another position is substantially better than alternatives on day 2, and so they may prefer to get a WR they like in the second or even third round.

No team is in worse shape at WR than the Eagles... they are truly desperate.  For some teams, adding that offensive lineman or defensive lineman that is a difference maker would have far more impact for them.  For some, an impact LB, S or CB would have more impact.... and there are a few teams that would benefit far more by adding a dynamic running back threat, of which there are a couple like Swift and Taylor.

Yup that's my thought on it. Teams that desperately need a T, CB, DE, DT can't wait until round 2 for one if they want a good prospect who is ready to make an impact.

Trade down and draft multiple WR to increase our odds at hitting on one in the next tier.  Higgins, Shenault, Mims, Hamler, etc....

That definitely seems like the sweet spot if the top 4 are gone. Imo a combo of Reagor and Shenault would have me very happy. Mims and Hamler is also a combo i could get down with. Probably not practical but i also want to pair Justin Jefferson with Van Jefferson for obvious reasons.

Reagor looks really good in games to me, but I can see why people have concerns about him. He just looks explosive and I think it’ll translate.

You're right. I think Chase Young should be the pick. Washington has been largely a laughing stock for years now, so them taking another first round QB truly wouldn't surprise me.

If it were me, Young is a no brainer.

I think I'd trade back. As enticing as Young is they just spent a 1st on Sweat and still have a solid group with Kerrigan. If they can pull of a deal with Miami, its possible to even get Young at 5. If not you can still get Okudah/Simmons.

I just researched the last 10 years of 1st rounds and below is the only years where more than 3 WR were taken in the 1st round.

A cautionary tale to say the least.

2016- 4

Corey Coleman bum — Immature and raw

Will Fuller bust — not a bust. He’s electric when he’s on the field. He’s just been hurt.

Josh Doctson bust — older, late breakout, didn’t separate, contested catch king.

Laquon Treadwell bust — Speed. Can’t separate.

2015- 6  (there was a run this draft)

Kevin White bust — Injuries. One-year wonder.

DeVante Parker...meh — Injuries amd immaturity. Finally put it together and looks like a good receiver.

Amari Cooper- F Dallas

Nelson Hands Agholor — Who could have seen him melt mentally like he did?

Breshad Perrimen- bust — Raw, injuries, has he finally figured it out?

Phil Dorsett- up and down — I’m not really sure, although I thought he was a reach anyway.

2014- 5

Sammy Watkins- broken. Yup.

Brandi Cooked — Really good player. Probably shouldn’t hold head injuries against him. Just bad luck.

Mike Evans- stud

Kelvin Benjamin- bust — Lazy.

OBJ- stud/nutjob. Yup.

2013- 4

Tavon Austin- bust. Yup. Too small to go that high.

Deandre Hopkins- pretty good — Stud despite also being a contested catch king.

Cordarelle Patterson- meh — Raw, couldn’t run routes. More athlete than football player.

Justin Hunter- major reach. — I think he was actually a second round pick too. I believe he had maturity questions as well. Skinny build. (I thought he was gonna be good)

2012- 4

Justin Blackmon- who? — Maturity.

Micael Floyd - Drinking, no?

Kendall Wright - Had a decent year or two. I couldn’t say why he didn’t work out.

Aj Jenkins- who? — Was drafted about two rounds early. Even then, it was surprising to see him bust that badly. He was also a late breakout.

I think it’s important to post-scout those picks and to determine why they’re busts. Edits in your post.

Had the Eagles moved up to 8 yet at this point in '16?

Fake news?  It’s Twitter bait to increase his following.  Got to post something nowadays to do so.  I don’t care what you call the endless blathering with no more knowledge than a blogger like you.  Jeremiah isn’t scouting like he did when he worked as a scout.  He is watching some film, maybe, and may be reaching out to contacts he has with teams (who will be misleading him at this point), but where players will land in the draft is speculation at best until the draft happens.

Meaning trade down so they don't get any of them?

Caplan just said it's unlikely even Hammler lasts to 53.

That would concern me as well.

I am wondering if this "WR Draft" ends up being like the "RB Draft" in 2017, the "OL Draft" in 2015, the "QB Draft" in 2012, etc.   The Eagles need to be careful not to try and get too cute with value.   I think it's possible the top 7-8 WR's are gone by #53.

In each of those other drafts, they were strong at positions the Eagles were looking to fill, but in each of those drafts the Eagles waited too long to strike, thinking they had more time to get their guys.    But there was a run on players at those positions between 35 and 95 and picked the board clean (mostly).

For example we all love Nick Foles, but Andy Reid's primary target was Russell Wilson.   He waited too long and Nick Foles was the compensation prize pick.

Your first post in the new world is a great one.

Will we ultimately care if we draft a WR 10 - 20 spots prematurely if that WR helps Carson and does things for the offense it needs?  I say hell no.
