Wanting to keep your high picks is fine. But they better nail them.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Usually those WR4/5 play ST.

Kind of hard to disagree. I love Ruggs. If he were three inches taller and 20 pounds heavier, sure, then you give up the farm. But as things were, I think they made the right choice.

Honestly that comment was probably directly aimed at lamb. Raiders seemed set on Ruggs so would have costed much more than 53 to jump them. Broncos went Juedy and every mock ever had them taking a WR, so can’t imagine they wanted to trade out for anything less than a King’s ransom.

so to jump up from 21 to 16 probably would have cost 53 is what it sounds like.

I’m already all in, so am going to get burned badly if Reagor sucks so I’ll go ahead and say it. I didn’t think Ruggs was that much better than Reagor before the draft. Ruggs was better with the ball in his hands, but route running was already better imho by Reagor.

qb play made Ruggs highlights Look much better than Reagor

devil's advocate...  you have to nail them MORE if all you have are low picks AND one pick you traded you high picks for.

I have minimal interest in seeing Reagor return punts or kicks.  Learn the WR position.  Master it.  Don't get hurt on ST.  Let Scott return.

I'd be ok looking for another option there...

I'm hoping Gladney, Diggs, or Johnson at CB tomorrow.

Hmmm i had noah I as a second rounder

I'm OK with Ward competing in the slot.  Hamler is a boom or bust guy who may start out in the slot.  If you take him, Ward is insurance there.  In this scenario, Hamler can start in a comfort zone in the slot and ideally might evolve into a Z over time.  The Eagles have already hinted that they view Reagor as someone who can be moved around.  He is sturdy enough and diverse enough that I think he could conceivably fit at X.

If you take a Claypool/Mims for the X position, then Ward is all you have in the slot.  In this scenario, I'd start cross training JJAW for the slot immediately.

Either way, I think Ward is a reasonable, if not exciting, slot safety net.

We've been screaming this all off-season.

Exactly.

What sucks is all this good stuff will be ignored because the loudest haters will skip everything when they log on tomorrow to start arguing.

All I know is the team did well by Carson tonight.  Whenever we see actual football again, there's no doubt this kid's going to do things alot of fans in here had never seen before.

Yeah I wouldn’t have given up 53 in either situation. They did the right thing. Just hope I’m wrong about Reagor.

Dolphins are just confused.  What are they doing?   I guess Xavier Howard is on the outs?

If any of them fell to 53 I would be absolutely thrilled.

I think a lot of teams got their WR now.

I think we may have a really nice opportunity for a very modest trade up (come on, who cares about a few extra backups with all those 4ths) to get our pick of the 2nd round WR liter.

3rd round...best defensive player available.

2nd round...use the 4th's to trade up and get your WR.

Looks like Mims is going to fail into the 2nd round, Higgins too.

Can't fault him... trying to think of the last team with a true blue chip WR who won a superbowl in the last 10 years.  Megatron?  Nope.  Julio?  Nope.  Need those picks-- and as much as I want another WR in the 2nd, we need some defensive playmakers already.

Gladney is such a Zimmer pick. Great fit. What a competitor.

Well... it is the Dolphins lol

I like Claypool a lot, but he needs to slim down.  238 is not good for an outside WR.  He's already got enough size and strength to rag doll CBs.  That's not changing with slimming down.  What he'd gain in lateral agility would be far more useful.

Duvernay looks a little stiff.  I hate, hate, hate borrowing words from scouting reports.  But they slapped him with that term for a reason.  The speed and explosion there are exciting though.  Maybe they can work with him to loosen him up and gain some quicks.  I'd rather take that shot in round 3.

I think Claypool is just naturally big. Could he do a body transformation where he does a net loss of 5 pounds, losing 10 of fat and adding 5 of muscle? Probably. Would it help his quickness? Probably. But you aren’t taking him to be a slot receiver. You put him on an island and force the defense to make a tough decision about leaving their corner out to dry against a guy who is way bigger and faster.

Duvernay I just live because he’s unique. There just aren’t many true deep threats who are also physical after the catch runners. I love guys like that — skill sets that defy archetypes.

I am still pretty low on Shenault.  Risky move.

I think it makes more sense at 53 now, but I hear you. It would give us a very diverse set of young receivers, at least if we could get anything out of jjaw

Well one won't.

Wouldn't mind a minor trade up to get some talent on D.
