Thought it'd be different with the quarantine

I've got no problem stretching it out.   There's been no sports for like 6 weeks and who knows when they will come back.  We need something.   Make the 4-5 ROunds Saturday and then 6 & 7 on Sunday.  I don't care.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

That reeked of a McCarthy pick. He likes airing it out. Never ran the ball in GB even when he had Aaron Jones on the roster who exploded this past season. They want to put the offense on Dak's shoulders instead of Zeke's.

Let them put it on Daks shoulders. It equals loss. They win when the offense goes through ewok.

The great thing is that even in a shortened offseason, they can have Reagor focus solely on the Z and move DJax into the slot to get both on the field.
It’s gonna be fun.

Unless they changed their thinking, dont they want all the WRs to learn each position.

I thought I read somewhere that is why it took JJAW so long to get on the field because he had to learn all the receiver positions.

If Gallop has a good year next year he’s going to be making 900k going into his final year of his rookie contract. Not a shot he plays on that. They either pay him or lose him soon too

Is this the first time you watched the draft?

I don’t care what Dallas did. We got better tonight. Hopefully that continues tomorrow night. ✌️

I would assume (hope) that this offseason changes their thinking.

It took him so long to get on the field because he's not good.

Yeah he wasn’t an option at our pick like Thomas was that draft. Fans really have this thing where they just assume anything and everything is possible in sports and it’s Howies fault if it doesn’t happen. We could have had lamb or Ruggs or anyone, Howie just didn’t do it. Idiot! ..is that what really happened?

Now I’m not going to make excuses for him, he’s made bad picks, he’s screwed up. But you can’t possibly fault him for something that might not have been possible without selling the farm. If information surfaces that we could have traded up for a 4th and he didn’t..okay you can question that. But something tells me that wasn’t the case.

Does it absolutely suck that Dallas got Lamb? Yes. 100% yes. But there’s a good chance we couldn’t trade up without giving up way too much..when we have plenty of holes to fill.

Given it took TB a 4th round pick to move up one spot, can't imagine what teams were asking for to move up 5 spots or so for Lamb.

Not directed at you, but that line of thinking.  This team needs youth... lots of it and speed... lots of it.

Their lack of draft picks, their trades for players like Tate and even to an extent Ajayi and Howard has hurt.  Now, I expect that they might get a comp pick back for Howard... but trading for guys and getting only a year or less from them for 3rd and 4th round picks hurts.   The CBs... Jones and Douglas, had they worked out, would be better, because they wouldn't have had to trade for Slay... but they have.  Not to mention the trade for Darby as well.  Too many misses in both trades and picks.  Gotta hope Slay is everything they think he is for what they are paying for.

They haven't drafted well, and that needs to change.  But, trading up for guys doesn't fix the problem it just gives them fewer options.  And some of our later round draft picks have been better than the earlier ones.  2nd round pick on Jones, 7th round pick on Mills.  For as much grief as Mills has taken around here, he's been way way better than Jones.  Which is why when people poo-poo 7th round picks I roll my eyes.  No, they aren't likely to hit, but they are a lottery ticket.  And when you are drafting poorly, you need as many tickets as you can get.

I 100 percent agree with everything you said. The trades and picks is where it hurts today. If you hit on those picks and have those picks to draft in previous drafts maybe they are in the position to go up for lamb with the picks. But i knew as soon as it got to Atlanta that Atlanta was gonna ask for 53 and i couldn’t see howie giving up 53 and 21 to get lamb. It didn’t make sense. I could see 103 but that wasn’t realistic knowing they had to leap Dallas and leaping them prevented lamb from being in the division. Atlanta likely used it as leverage.

agreed on the lotto ticket analogy. I said earlier in the day i wish the eagles would start being like New England where they move back and acquire more picks for future drafts and present so they always have like 9-13 picks. I feel when you are a playoff team you need to be savvy on stockpiling picks to get as many shots at guys. Even if you hit 50 percent on 12 guys it’s better than 50 percent on just 6.

That sounds like a good plan, but I want to see how tomorrow plays out.

I have zero interest in either Alshon or JJAW as our short or long term X.  Depending on the fit of the next WR they draft, I wouldn't be totally opposed to seeing Reagor as the X in this offense.  Traditionally, it has been a bigger guy, but it really doesn't need to be.

Agreed, but until the Eagles actually stray from a big X, I assume that’s the plan.

He's 100% right. about the last sentence. Based on what they passed on in Lamb, if he's what people expect, Reagor needs to be like our own Tyreek Hill for this to be a successful pick, because it always has to be evaluated with the context of what they passed on to make it, not just in a vacuum.

I think it was a JJ pick.  He likes those Oklahoma boys and wants the sexy pick instead of what they really need.

I have no problem with them putting it on Dak's shoulders.

The Eagles didn’t pass on anything

Another dope focusing on a likely impossibility.   I'm still mad the Eagles didn't draft Jonathan Ogden over Jermaine Mayberry in 1996.  No wonder Ray Rhodes was fired.

They didn't pass on Lamb.  They just didn't want to "sell the farm" to move up to get him....a decision that I agree with.

Today is one step on a long road of convincing me that Joe Douglas was the problem.  But you are right about those DB issues.  That Slay trade, despite the overwhelmingly positive reaction, was actually a lot to stomach.  That's a lot of draft capital to give up for a 29 year old CB who is subsequently taking up a big chunk of cap at market value.

If we had those Slay draft picks, we could really have our way with things on day 2 of this draft in a big way.

But they desperately needed a sure thing in the secondary because of prior mishaps.
