Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I think we have our comp pick, no?

What’re the chances we ship off Rasul and a 4th to move up into 3rd?

I don't know but I would love that scenario.

After a night to sleep on it I'm ok with the Reagor pick.  It does seem he was going to go right after our pick.  I only hope our WR evaluations were finally correct this time and he really does have the advertised blazing speed.  Our WR situation is now good enough to the point where we don't NEED to get a WR anymore.

Now onto Rd. 2 and 3 tonight:

Dream scenario - get 2 STARTERS on D.  Hopefully something like S Grant Delpit and LB Logan Wilson.  May have to trade up in Rd. 3 using one of our late 4ths to go up and get a guy like Wilson.

We have GLARING needs on D at this point that hopefully we can address w/value picks.

However if we do have a WR (Hamler?  Mims?) rated as the best VALUE on the board in Rd. 2, I'm good with that.

Should be BPA from now on for a few picks, excluding QB or OL.

I love the core of that plan, but I must admit that I really don't like Delpit.  Great NCAA safety, great hitter, aggressive at the LOS, but he's just going to get burnt by NFL WRs.  I think the only thing he'd add to this defense is another DB who watches the football sail over their head at the cost of a 2nd round pick.

If we go safety in round 2, which I am not incredibly excited about, Ashtyn Davis and Kyle Dugger are the guys who might be able to match up with WRs.  I'd rather go WR at 53, watch one of those safeties fall, and use our 4's to trade way up for them (or a nice LB) in round 3.

Odd thought....what if the Eagles go back to the WR well in the 2nd?  That essentially puts the KC "you can't stop us on offense enough times to matter" system into play.

Correct.

This analysis is junk man.  You're 2nd day picks SHOULD be depth and contributors.  The Eagles have just sucked at getting those players.  2nd and 3rd round picks should never be on the PS.

7th rounders sure but day 2 draft picks are the 2nd and 3rd round.  The Eagles need to start hitting on those players.

I disagree with this assessment. Afan was using old terminology when he responded.  Wasn’t that long ago that day 2 meant 4-7.  Pryor - played when Brooks went down.  Big V signed one of the biggest contracts in FA.   Last year our seventh was Ridgeway.  I think that was a way better move than drafting Herbig or Opeta in the seventh, who we prioritized as UDFAs.  Hollins got hurt and didn’t seem to recover.   That’s not a miss, that’s an injury.  But they prioritized Ward as an UDFA and stuck with him.   Howard for a sixth?  So a starting RB for a year would be great value for a sixth.  Gerry, a late fifth is a starting LB and even when he was not, he was solid on teams. Good value.   We knew when Sudfeld went down that Thorson wasn’t going to stick. They let the cowpads sign him to their PS because they thought picking up Lauletta, a giants fourth round pick, was better value.  They didn’t need Miller to play last year.  Green goblin was a seventh rounder. Eagles are very good at using their late round picks, pretty good at poaching other teams late round picks when they get cut and pretty good at targeting UDFAs.

I really like Ashtyn Davis. I’m not sure if he’ll fall to the third though, especially pick 103

No safeties off the board yet; in some ways S makes a lot of sense at #53.  My prediction if we stay at #53 it will be one of these 6 guys:

EDGE Terrell Lewis -- I think the Eagles had a formal meeting with him

EDGE Marlon Davidson

S  Kyle Dugger -- phenomenal athlete, but played against terrible competition

S Ashtyn Davis

WR KJ Hamler -- Eagles met with him more than once

WR Laviska Shenault -- just putting my personal wants here

Reasonable to think They could target another WR if corners and safeties go. There still are intriguing options in FA if we can’t get a corner this year. Amukamara and Kirkpatrick could be great 1 year rentals.

I like all but the edge guys.

Because of social distancing (Carson not getting together with his receivers) and no training camp this year, the speed guys will be ahead of the non speed guys for their rookie year.  You can just ask them to run a few routes and they will still take the top off of the defense.  This bodes well for the Eagles (Reagor).

Yes we do, its the comp pick #103 overall.  Like I said may need to trade up from there with a 4th rounder to get a target prospect at a position of need.

People are underestimating his route running ability.  He isn't just a fast/quick dude.

Jags have gotten no offers for Yannick.  He can't surely play in Jacksonville after all that has happened.  They lost a ton of leverage.  Will they eventually have to trade him for like a 3rd rounder?

Yeah I'm not a scout so Delpit is just a suggestion.  We desperately need a stud S prospect who can play single high.  I have ZERO confidence in Jalen Mills to adequately replace Malcolm Jenkins.  It may happen, but I'm not counting on it.

Similarly we need a 2nd starting CB, a starting LB, another EDGE.

A lot of needs on defense so hopefully we can find a couple starters today.

I overemphasize speed at WR because of how the game is played.  It's also a downhill, straight ahead "athlete" position.

DB, despite needing to cover those downhill athletes, has a few more moving parts.  Speed is great.  Some may say it's required.  But they need to backpedal, turn their hips, read body language, read the qb, and not bite on false moves.  All of that gets wrapped up into "coverage."  "Coverage" for a DB is my "speed" for a WR.  With the way the game is played, if a DB can flat out cover, I don't care how physical they are, I don't care if they generate picks, and I don't care if they can tackle.

If I see "coverage" considered a weakness for a safety, take them off the damn draft board or make them a linebacker.  I don't like these 6'2" 215lb safeties who can't match up against WRs.

Yeah, I think anyone expecting him to be an 80 REC/1,300 yard guy might be fooling themselves -- but he will be a playmaker for sure, and that's something the Eagles are missing right now.

I think he is closer to 53.   Interesting that Mel had Winfield higher than him or Delpit last night.

It was either him or Jeudy right? Don't think Ruggs is as explosive in his cuts, just faster top end and better with the ball in his hands.

I'm pretty sure they'll be able to find a state that will let them unofficially get together to throw the ball around.
