I would have gone with Jefferson but I think Reagor would have been my next choice.   The concentration drops concern me.    Call it Agholor/Gibson/KGB/JMat syndrome.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Make it happen

I was actually having a Convo with don on the old board before the Eagles pick Saying I don’t think they can afford to move back and expect reagor to be on the board. Minnesota made a ton of sense for him. He gives them that speed element that they are missing since the traded diggs to buffalo. He was actually a perfect replacement for diggs. I like Jefferson but I see a lot of comparison in style of play to Adam Thielen. I’m curious to see how Minnesota makes those to work together. I think their games are very similar.

Yup, I agreed with you on this last night.

Yea, it's wrong.  He would have been gone within the next 3 picks.

Actually, with this pick, it feels like Howie finally had a chance to pick his guy.  Not Joe Douglas's guy.  Not Chip's guy.  Not Andy's guy.  HE talked about this last year.  That this was the first time Howie was had been able to convince Lurie to set things up so he was going to be The Man.  Hell, having him alone in a room couldn't make it look any plainer, IMO.  Yes, I know it was because of Covid, but still...

This offense is going to look different.  I think Howie and the coaches are in lock step.  And this was the beginning.

I've been thinking this for the past few days - Howie gets knocked for his player evaluations, but I think his greatest issue lately is he defers too much to others.  On one hand, he's acknowledging he isn't a football guy, but I think the best leaders take the input from the group and then make a decision themselves.

This kind of feels like the first time we are seeing that and getting the team built in a true "Howie" style.

Injecting and/or marinating beef is overkill.  Especially if it's smoked right.

Not disagreeing-- but the learning curve with brisket can be steep!  Injecting my first few times kept a tender end result amidst my own blunders

No less disgusted about last night’s happenings today. Just gross. 🤮

Yup, I said the same thing last night. Reagor and Thielen compliment each other better than Jefferson and Thielen. People are sleeping on Reagor too much because of one bad 40.

You can tell all of that after one pick?

nah.  just listening to him talk about previous drafts and how he was thinking leading up to this one.

I wasn't comparing him to Tavon Austin!

Someone asked what the worst case comparions would be.  I said Tavon Austin.

I hated the pick at 21.  Would have loved him in the 2nd.

I am sure a lot of people would love Reagor at 53.  But zero chance of him falling that far.  And hoping he makes it to the 2nd for a trade up from 53 means he would have to get by Minn and SF who drafted WRs after the pick 21.   So perhaps a slight reach but not sure there was a better WR left at that point that fits the Eagles' needs.  And who knows what scraps at WR (on paper....who knows how ANY of the WRs pan out) would be left by the time they pick in the 2nd.

I'm sure you've said this a million times, but I'm balancing this conversation with work so I'm losing who said what...

play it out.  Let's say the Eagles don't take Reagor at 21 and take a LB.  Assuming he's gone and the rest of the first round falls as it did last night, how are you looking to solve WR?

Hope we can find some defensive studs in the 2nd and 3rd.

In the 4th and after look again at WR prospects.

Gandy-Golden, Peoples-Jones, Duvernay etc.  Or yeah if we can trade it for another speedster in Curtis Samuel I'm down.

Frankly if he ran a 4.3 then a  I think people would’ve been thrilled about the pick and B. he he might not even be on the board at 21 if he ran that as people in the nfl get crazy stupid when it comes to speed and ridiculous 40s.

Well 1st rd sucked. Let's see if day 2 is any better

I mean he ran a 4.28 on here. Pretty ridiculous.

Said the same thing to a buddy. People get way too caught up in 40 times. I keep seeing people complain and say he's a reach because ''he's a speed guy who only ran a 4.47'' and ''Jefferson is faster, he ran a 4.43.'' Go watch both of them play and if you think Reagor isn't significantly faster and more dynamic you are either extremely stupid or a bad liar.

I didn't want to post this before Round 1 last night, because my historical WR evaluation is as bad as the Eagles have been.   I have very little credibility in relation to WR evaluation.

But I did feel VERY strongly the Eagles had to go WR in Round 1.  I hoped they would be aggressive.

Here were my Round 1 WR targets / thoughts for the Eagle last night at the beginning of the draft...

1. Ruggs - almost perfect fit for what they needed (in my opinion)

2. Lamb

3. Jefferson

4 - Reagor / Aiyuk - (trade back slightly 5-6 spots to bottom of Round 1)

5 - Mims - (trade back slightly 5-6 spots to bottom of Round 1)

For better or worse, based on the Eagles pre-draft comments about players with injury histories...I did not have Jeudy or Shenault on my Round 1 list because of injury concerns.

************************************

Based on what actually happened, I would have probably taken Jefferson.    However, I do understand the reasons why the Eagles went with Reagor over Jefferson.    And I also now believe that if the Eagles had traded back to near the bottom of Round 1 they would have missed out on Jefferson, Reagor, and Aiyuk.   And that would have been a terrible outcome in my view.   I do like Mims for his size and athletic profile, but I think he will need some development time and might not be able to contribute as a rookie WR as much as the Eagles would need him to if he was their top pick.

Overall I think what the Eagles did was logical and made sense.   Even if we may slightly disagree about the particular WR they drafted, I do think it seems the Eagles had a proper understanding of where the Top 5-6 WRs were going to be drafted.    I don't believe they reached for their guy.    Now I just have to hope they made the right choice.

Exactly.  People keep assuming they could have traded back to 29 or 30, gotten and extra pick and still picked Reagor but that's not the case.  Minnesota would have taken Reagor. with the next pick.

Is it really that terrible that we can pair of one of them with Reagor?  None of them would be in the equation if we traded up for Lamb.

I still want shenault to be frank. I think he’s a perfect compliment to reagor. I also think he gives you a lot of jet sweeps, can play some running back ala ty Montgomery and he can play all three WR position. Add on in the red zone he’s so physical and so much bigger than corners he’ll bully them. If JJAW showed anything worthwhile last year I’m not even considering 2nd round WR. But since he didn’t if shenault is there I’m considering it strongly.

What sucks is the Eagles messing up at WR last year in the draft is why they put themselves in the position to need to take a WR this year. Their previous draft mistakes showing their ripple effects. 😩

Delpit or Winfield in the 2nd please

In what combination and where would you expect to get them?  Just trying to play your draft out to see how I’d feel by the end of it.
