I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Are you questioning the unemployed TATE draft experts.

they must be the reason I have no clout in scouting circles. Because I post my stuff here.

Level of confidence with JJAW is a 3, given 1 is all hope is lost. Hard for me to believe he'll be worth his draft stock. He may be of some use in certain packages.

We all know how much I hated that pick.  I see no upside in a guy that can't get open.

If Reagor turns into what I hope and we find another X with very good speed, then I would have some hope JJAW could emerge as a situationally effective possession WR.  That's his upside.

I can't believe I'm flopping on this, but I'm really interested in trading for Samuel.

4th & 5th for Samuel (does that get it done? Throw in Rasul?).  Have Samuel learn the X and spend some time in the slot.

As I argued before, I don't like him as our deep threat offseason addition.  But that's not a problem anymore.  Reagor and Samuel out wide could be very, very exciting.  Both with speed to burn, both very shifty with the ball in their hands.  Reagor is better deep, Samuel more of a weapon underneath...but he at least projects as a deep weapon as well.

With them as your 1/2...brace yourselves...I might actually take another look at JJAW as the #3.  A physical, box-out, possession WR with big sticky mitts could be a nice complement to a pair of track stars.

That frees up 53 for a safety of the future and leaves us with two 4th round picks to fortify LB/RB.

I think Samuel becomes a slot WR and this is the only play they should run:

Cool, so now we are arguing over semantics. Almost as good as your argument that the Eagles got an older corner in Slay who is 29 years old, over that youngster Jones who is going to turn 28 in September.

I didn't say Jones was a youngster. You're using strawman arguments and being disingenuous. The debate has nothing to do with their age, it's the fact that one just would cost money and the other would cost draft picks. Factoring both in, and the fact that it may have cost them a top 3 WR in this draft, what was the better option? I say Byron Jones. You clearly think Slay still is despite everything. If you feel that way then you do.

Todays walter 2nd and 3rd round re-mock has us taking Winfield and then Van Jefferson.

Id like to kick walter in the nads.

We need a center fielder type S. Not exactly winfield. Give my Ashtyn Davis there instead.

At WR we can use a capable Alshon replacement but if we go slot either way, lets stick with speed. Its only round 3 we can find a faster slot player. Give me Lynn Bowden.

Yes, exactly that and a red zone target (not a red zone machine in any way). Just someone you at least have to account for.

Isn't that what the Chiefs run on every play while Mahomes runs around the pocket, pivots, and heaves it downfield off balance?

I don’t feel like we’re going safety high, but Davis would be a great pick.

fact is, taking care of the biggest need which was speed in the WR corps truly opened up all possibilities. You can go giddy thinking about adding more speed. Or you can think about taking a guy like Higgins as the perfect complement, or even a possession guy like a KJ Hill... Id still prefer more speed, but you can totally live with the true best available the position now no matter the skillset or size. Just about any other WR looks pretty darn nice paired with Jackson and Reagor.

Think about this- If we were all celebrating a lamb pick right now, we would still be sweating our tails off wondering where we are going to find the speed at the position. Such a nice player and yet thered be an emptiness.

They sprinkle in a screen or two.

He didn't say that, someone reported he didn't want to stay in the NFC East. Others reported he went to the team that offered him the most money.

I think the money part of it was no state income tax.

How come it's never - this is the worst draft in decades; none of these players will even sniff an NFL field.

Oh, that happens too. The year we drafted Lane, for example.

For the Schwartz gets what he wants narrative, Solak says he loved Kenneth Murray.

Thank goodness he doesn’t call the shots.

If they want a center fielder type, its now or never. I dont care if they dont do get Delpit or Davis. But if they dont I dont want to see any other safeties. Theyll all be redundant with the ones we already have.

I remember being so bummed that we bottomed out and it came during a week draft class.

I like the safeties and with Mills and Parks on one-year deals I’d be OK with a mid-round guy. But you’re right, I don’t think any of them are single high safeties outside of Delpit and Davis.

The Eagles run a lot of two-TE sets. To do that you need two good TEs.

I think we do this out of necessity due to the lack of quality WR options in the last 2 years.  Specifically the decline of Alshon moreso than anything.

To become more explosive we need to get away from it.  That means finding a couple more WR's to complement Reagor long term.

Would anyone be ok with Hamler?

nope.

Mayybe if they convert Amik Robertson. I know we seem ok with small safeties but he just seems too small for it.

Mayyybe Blackmon

And then no one till whatever round LJarius Sneed gets drafted in.

No top QB was the biggest problem in that draft.
