Trades I like tonight involving Eagles #53. Overall, trading down is better than trading up.

Trading Up

  • Jets: 48 for 53 & Rasul Douglas
  • Pitt: 49 for 53 & 145.

Trading Down

  • Panthers: 69 & Curtis Samuel
  • Packers: 62 & 2021 3rd rounder.
  • Bengals, Washington or Detroit: 3rd rounder & 4th rounder
  • Vikings: 58 & 132 (4th rounder).

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Injecting and/or marinating beef is overkill.  Especially if it's smoked right.

On this, we will differ.   I don’t always inject a brisket and I just about never marinade a steak (occasionally I can’t resist a bourbon steak, usually a sirloin) or roast but real lean cuts like a flank or round can benefit from it.  If your brisket has a good layer of fat on one side, no injection needed but a lot I see in grocers don’t nowadays.  Do you have a good meat supply place where you buy your meat?   (With a real butcher as opposed to packing plant meats at the grocer.) Not really a fan of the one near me

I also find it a bit funny that you are guiding me on what you think is overkill.  You said this is your first brisket. I have been smoking briskets for almost 50 years.  I grew up on Texas BBQ. I have toured the Carolinas, Tennessee, Memphis, KC and of course, Texas eating BBQ and talking with the pit masters.  They won’t share their rub and sauce recipes but they will talk barbecue with you.  I love to cook with wood but it isn’t easy to get.  I use an old two layer smoker when I can.  Beats gas grilling with a smoke box.   I appreciate you have some training in the culinary arts.  I actually have some informal training as well from some chefs, pit masters and folks that cooked scratch all their lives.

One of the things that would most help, and it maybe isn’t as hopeless as jjaw becoming a legit starter, is one of our mid-round DEs becoming a good 3rd option.

We will see how early the run on WR starts tonight; something tells me that #53 the BPA will be DE or S.

You mean the inability to run with a torn hamstring?

Susceptibility to injuries like torn hamstrings is a big reason why most don't play into their 40's.  Get Flacco in here assuming he won't break the bank.

Give me a safety and another receiver tonight

Some people say Delpit doesn't have the coverage skills to play the CF role.  Others say he does.  What's the deal?  From scouting reports it seems like his issues are more with tackling and he had a ton of picks his junior year.

Delpit's skilled enough to play the CF role, move into the box and cover in nickel. His biggest issue by far is his tackling - bad pursuit angles, overagressive and tries to go for the knockout hit. Had something like 40 missed tackles in two seasons.

Do you reduce the marinade to a sauce? I add a tsp of Better than Bouillon too, which some may consider as cheating.

Not this marinade.  Only use a quarter cup in this one and marinade for a long time. Another one I use with this cut I do with sautéed mushrooms but this one calls for minced garlic and the other one I use roasted garlic in.   I love cheating with Better than Bullion, the low sodium one,  Always have some of that available.   I also use a lot of beef stock, unsalted.

Delpit is rising to the top of my do not draft list.

Probably the most disappointing part of the draft is that you and @eagle45 are happy with the pick.

If you have been reading the boards today, I have been one of the biggest advocates of Reagor.  Almost everything I posted was positive, including his speed.  I was having a conversation with 1986 where he was arguing that he was not fast and then two hours later he says he never said that.  The end.

Been off and on.  Can't keep track of who said what sometimes.   Reagor is fast.  He looks fast.  I can't fathom how anyone can miss that.   I assume they are focusing on the 40 time at the combine.   Cool.  That's about as worthless a thing as happens at the combine, but it gets the most attention.

Sounds like Malcolm Jenkins once we teach him how to tackle!

Trust me man, I know and completely agree.  I have spent like 5 hours on here today trying to convince some people of this, which is just crazy.

Of course, and as I age I learn this more and more.  Not sure I like Flacco vs Sudfeld.  Sudfeld actually throws a very pretty deep ball, and that seems to be the way they want to go.  Flacco's arm strength is starting to go.

I just don’t think he looks all that fast/elusive on tape. Ruggs, Hamler, Bowden, and quez Watkins look faster on tape.

What’s so difficult for you to understand? Reagor is fast but I don’t see the elite speed that I do in current players like Hill or Desean and incoming rookies like Ruggs or Hamler. I could be wrong .

im done with you slapdik

I wonder if the Cowboys pick causes a reactionary pick by the eagles. It was a need to begin with but I wonder if they get aggressive in moving for their favorite of Fulton, Diggs, or Jaylon Johnson.

They may be confident in Roby-Coleman, and of course Slay but we need a 3rd CB to cover their 3 WRs.

How do you like the Reagor pick?

Sharing recipes?

I made a thai peanut-ginger sauce for a chicken stir fry over rice.   Not bad.   I imagine it coulds be much better, but it was exactly what I was looking for... easy, quick, in the pantry and most of all.... different flavor profile!

Had been in a bit of a rut.

Wife said she wanted chocolate cake, so I pulled the Hershey's cocoa powder out of the pantry and said... "Kitchen's yours"...  It's cooling now before icing.   I can't wait.

Yea, I thought we were still in need of an outside corner.  Any chance Diggs falls to 53?

I feel the same way about the pick a day later. Reagor is too much of a one tricky pony with too many question marks to be worthy of the 21st pick. Sure, we need speed, but we could have gotten it today or maybe even tomorrow. Passed on better players.

I'd be shocked if he made it to 40.
