Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Its defenseless if there is no trade... unquestionably one of the worst picks Ive ever seen

I didn’t even like Hurts as a QB at Alabama — he’s not a good QB.

This. He isn't that great. They just took a Taysom hill in the 2nd round.

A burner in the 1st.

Wentz has to be thinking this is a joke. The amount of adversity he has to overcome is astounding.

I just can’t believe they did that. Are we actively trying to go 9-7?

Howie thinks his roster is top 5 with a talented but fragile QB. It's the only explanation.

I can't remember being so shell-shocked by a pick. Like ever. Maybe Kolb, but at least McNabb was getting old at the time and it made somewhat sense. I can't find any logic with this though. Like none.

The Saints drafted Marshon Lattimore and Alvin Kamara the year they added Taysom Hill as a udfa.

But let's just fast forward straight to round 2 to get our Taysom Hill.

Especially given the board.

Like I said....its a laughing stock pick

Awesome

So there have been a lot of TATEr posts today.  I needed this pick to post mine.

Tells us what they think of Sudfeld?  Maybe not

This braintrust that DP put together is planning some wild things.  Hurts is a strong runner and has RB size.  One look and run guy.  Strong arm

Now think about defending this.  Carson in the RPO with Hurts at RB and Greg Ward in the slot with Reagor and DJax as the outside WRs and Ertz or Goedert at TE.  Who are you going to cover especially with motion. They have three players on the field that can throw to streaking WRs.  Ward is a threat on screens due to wiggle and I bet Hurts can rush or catch just fine.  Quite possible Hurts is a better Gibson or Bowden than Gibson or Bowden.

Disgruntle Wentz, nab a backup QB.

Sounds like a great reward for which to burn a 2nd round pick!

I stayed out of tge fray after the 1st found pick

Like him or not it made sense and it felt like they had a plan.

Now .... 🤔

Maybe you take that kind of project with an extra 4th. Maybe. But here?  With what’s still on the board?

Agreed.  No way do you do this at #53.   I would have never done it.

The Eagles better make this work, or else this move will live on in infamy.

There is zero justification for this. Face it the Super Bowl win was a glorious mistake and thank God for it

Are they worried about Wentz's back?

Are we really gonna take Wentz off the field for F'ing gadget plays??

to me, its clear this pick is all about gadgetry more than backup QB.

I think if they wanted a backup QB they shoulda went with Eason, or Gordon, even Fromm even though his ceiling is only as a backup, probably still a better QB than Hurts.

I think if Carson gets hurt for a prolonged period its Sudfeld.

Hurts was not the best QB prospect on the board, but a long shot. I think they took him for the athleticism.

But how are you going to take Carson off the field on a 3rd down, or red zone, where he excels. And watch Hurts throw a pick? Its going to happen.

Or teams will know hes running and teams will always know whats coming.

This is just horrible.

I MUST add, that is this is the case, and it surely is then the guy should have been LYNN BOWDEN!!!

With Bowden, you dont have to take Wentz off the field to put in a worse QB. Bowden can play QB at times if you really, really want that for some reason, but he coulda contributed so much more than Hurts can because BOWDEN IS A WR! and returns punts.

If they wanted trickeration this pick is still a bad one because Bowden is way better in that role.

How could Doug have possibly signed off on this? Are they gonna make Hurts a rb/wr? Yuckx10000

Doug actually seemed really happy on that live feed.

Maybe buyers remorse on Wentz contract.  Cap buster? Re-calibration Nation.

Hurts: He's #2.......but he tries harder..............

I would have rather traded that pick for Josh Rosen

Fing awesome. I see Hurts taken while Epenesa and Jefferson go off the board shortly after. Pathetic. I swear, if this team drafted Hurts to replace Wentz, I am done.

Anyone else think that the Eagles might be trying to trade Nate Sudfeld. I can’t imagine they use a second round pick to sit behind two quarterbacks for a year

Nobody wants Nate

I want to agree with your post but i can not like it. It makes me sad

So about Jefferson in the third or fourth........................

10 years from now this will go down with the Marcus Smith and Danny Watkins picks.  Worse than Marcus Smith really.

This is 26 year old left guard Canadian fireman level.

The only way this pick would even be remotely explainable is if they planned on Hurts playing some kind of hybrid "offensive weapon" position where he was a potential QB, TE, WR, RB on any given play.     That's a reach though.

With Pederson as HC? The guy who ran a trick play to Foles in the SB?

Hurts has far more potential as weapon "X" than as a starting NFL QB.
