Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Joe Douglas has had a much better draft than Howie and picked up a quality pick.

I dislike the pick but can see some logic behind it. It isn't ideal, not my favorite, but not insane

I have NO DESIRE to watch the rest of this draft.  I am Fing done.

There is NO DEFENSE for what they did here tonight.  None.  This was unconscionable, indefensible, and absolute draft malpractice.  Absolutely ruined what had always been such an exciting event for me.  So Fing pissed right now,  I hate this team.

My "hot take” like many here, is thanks for 2017, but we haven’t drafted well enough, period, and it’s time to move on.  The team building and FA strategy, outside of our one magical year, has not been good enough.  This is basically becoming the guy at work that just goes off the deep end and starts telling everyone to F off.  Burn the bridges.  That is exactly what Howie did tonight.

its time to turn the page.  We can find competent leadership that doesn’t do dumb crap, doesn’t always try to be too clever by half, and just makes solid smart decisions.  If we are honest the Cowboys have drafted much better than we have and this draft is only continuing and accelerating that disturbing trend.

Draft is over for me, boys... enjoy.

I think what happened in the playoff game last year obviously had to do with this decision.  If Wentz goes down in the 1st quarter of a playoff game, who would you want to come in?  Anyway, not defending the pick but it basically shows that the Eagles have concerns over Wentz' durability.

Here's a breakdown on Hurts:

 Jalen Hurts*, QB, Oklahoma
Height: 6-1. Weight: 222. Arm: 31.88. Hand: 9.5.
40 Time: 4.59. Projected Round (2020): 2-4.

4/21/20: Hurts put together a good workout at the combine, showing a quality arm, speed and athleticism. He completed 70 percent of his passes in 2019 for 3,851 yards with 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Some team sources see Hurts as a late-round pick, while others think Hurts is a mid-rounder. ESPN and other media outlets hyped Hurts all season, but in speaking to some sources, they feel Hurts struggles to read defenses, too often after one read he looks to run, is not that accurate, and is not a dynamic runner for the NFL. They feel Hurts is tough and a winner, so they could see a team taking him in the mid-rounds if a team really likes him and wants to work with him as a backup quarterback who might be able to contribute, somewhat like Taysom Hill in New Orleans. Some feel Hurts should move to fullback for the NFL, but Hurts has refused to work out at any position but quarterback. His struggles to see the field were given further proof at the Senior Bowl.

8/15/19: Hurts had a lot of success at Alabama, helping the program to some huge wins during his career with the team, but he really struggled as a pocket passer, which led to him becoming a backup. In 2018 as a backup, Hurts completed 73 percent of his passes for 765 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. In 2017, he completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,081 yards with 17 touchdowns an interception. As a freshman, Hurts completed 63 percent of his passes for 2,780 yards with 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

This just adds fuel to the fire of all the speculation surrounding Wentz being a bad teammate. It’s gives all the pro Foles people validity. This is going to quite the offseason the rest of the way.

Blame Howie all you want, but Doug has a huge grin on his face. You don’t make a move like this without the coach’s blessing

Doug is always smiling.

Seriously, what in the F are we gonna do with Jalen Hurts the next few years?

Develop him and play him when Wentz inevitably gets hurt again?

Nah. This is drafting Kolb when you have McNabb.

Mcnabb was 4 years older than Wentz is now.

I honestly would take any pick from the dumbest tater over this one

So Howie's logic is this:

It's better for the Eagles to have Reagor and Hurts than giving up the Hurts pick to move up grabbing Lamb, which would have kept division rival from getting him in the process.

This makes absolutely 0 sense.

10 years from now this will go down with the Marcus Smith and Danny Watkins picks.  Worse than Marcus Smith really.

This is 26 year old left guard Canadian fireman level.

It pretty much goes down with the Kevin Kolb pick.

McNabb was injury prone, but still quite good at the time. Same with Wentz.

Kolb sucked.

So does Hurtz.

I understand if they wanted a toy to play with on offense but that guy shoulda been Bowden. If they wanted a QB then they shoulda drafted a legit QB prospect.

Sudfeld should be able to fetch a solid 2021 7th round pick.

for what? a pick that howie will find a way to waste. unless we are getting something really good back it might be a lose & lose even harder depending on what we get back for Sudfeld

Never said it was gonna be a good pic. Just said I think they could wind up trading him to some team that wants him

So there have been a lot of TATEr posts today.  I needed this pick to post mine.

Tells us what they think of Sudfeld?  Maybe not

This braintrust that DP put together is planning some wild things.  Hurts is a strong runner and has RB size.  One look and run guy.  Strong arm

Now think about defending this.  Carson in the RPO with Hurts at RB and Greg Ward in the slot with Reagor and DJax as the outside WRs and Ertz or Goedert at TE.  Who are you going to cover especially with motion. They have three players on the field that can throw to streaking WRs.  Ward is a threat on screens due to wiggle and I bet Hurts can rush or catch just fine.  Quite possible Hurts is a better Gibson or Bowden than Gibson or Bowden.

Ok... let's play this out a little bit...

So, you are suggesting that Hurts is not a QB, but a RB/WR/Gadget guy?   Now... that said, he's got decent speed for a RB that size.  He has a nice sturdy thick build.  So, he cross trains to RB, but offers the chance to be a gadget throwing guy.   Has he ever run a pass pattern?  Has he ever pass protected?

This is a crazy take... but, hey... its a crazy pick.

Carson Wentz has a top 3 TE and a top 5 TE Duo, a top 5 OL, a future star RB, an offensive coach as an HC and just spent a 1st rounder on a super fast WR. They benched his backup QB who was the Super Bowl MVP in favour of him off a torn ACL/LCL.

The idea that this franchise hasn't done right by Wentz is absurd.

Care to revisit this? 😂😛

What are the chances Carson retires?

He should ask for a trade. I wouldn't even be mad at him

What a joke.  I just can't even wrap my head around this.  I'm actually jealous of Dallas.

How could Doug have possibly signed off on this? Are they gonna make Hurts a rb/wr? Yuckx10000

Doug was yukking it up like this was the best thing that could ever happen.  He's 100% on board with this nonsense!

I'll just continue breathing into a paper bag while gently rocking back and forth in the fetal position repeating"the other shoe will drop ; there has to be a plan'

People saying this is to replace Sudfeld... why the hell would you do that in the 2nd round? There's no defending this

We better get Chinn, Gay Jr and some other studs with these next couple of picks for this to make up for that

I stayed out of tge fray after the 1st found pick

Like him or not it made sense and it felt like they had a plan.

Now .... 🤔

Oh this is where the fun is.   Who knows what this really means?   It's nuts.

I’ve defended Howie but I just don’t get this one, I’m just absolutely shocked, this pick creates unnecessary drama at the QB position and it obviously doesn’t help this team at a position of need, I’m just at a loss, I don’t get it...
