People love to mock Jerry Jones and Dave Gettleman in his Elizabethan home basement, but they're running laps around Howie in this draft so far.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Maybe if the Chiefs or Niners did this without obvious holes .... but the Eagles have way too many needs to be pulling a gimmick pick

There is putting so much pressure on the scouts to find gems in RDs 3-5. We need to hit there to offset a luxury pick at QB.

What's it feel like to have faith in your GM during a draft?  THIS was the draft for Howie to prove himself.  No Joe Douglas.  He's in charge.

This just adds fuel to the fire of all the speculation surrounding Wentz being a bad teammate. It’s gives all the pro Foles people validity. This is going to quite the offseason the rest of the way.

No

My position on this guy has been consistent:

No screaming or ranting-but firm-

Go Back to beancounting.

Not enough for him?

Fire and promote assistant bean counter.

I knew this draft was going to be bad when they surprise announced the closure of the old EMB.  Got to silence the Howie critics.

They didn't silence anything, they are getting absolutely wrecked on every social media platform. If anything they should have wanted the boards to stay open because they aren't publicly viewed as much.

They'll try to justify this under 2 guises...

1. It adds flexibility/explosiveness to the offense.  Whatever.  No team in NFL history, until now, has invested in their gimmick QB.  They are all buy low options.

2. They are going to say that Wentz has been on the sidelines for 3 consecutive years with the season on the line.  So what pick could possibly help the team more than a backup QB?

If you believe in #2, then you have a problem with Wentz being our franchise QB.  You don't need to spend a 2nd round pick on a backup when you have a franchise QB.

I’m so mad right now

Yes he did.

I miss joe douglas

Don’t be an idiot.

How many full years (Preseason, full 16 games, and playoffs) has Wentz not played due to some kind of injury?

With his contract the team can't afford to continue spending on backup QBs the way it has. Just can't.

This isn’t like the Kolb pick. Kolb was drafted to eventually be the starter. That was looking ahead to the McNabb cliff.

This was just stupidly thinking your roster is so good you can pass on legit players for a bad QB prospect.

Thanks for being a complete S show, Clayton Thorson.

yup.  The Eagles suck at drafting, bottom line.

there goes Mims

No one knows, no one will ever truly know. We can debate whose fault it was and the level of culpability all Spring if we want. But to me it comes down to one thing and here's the bottom line:

The Eagles leading WR last season had under 500 yards. We had arguably the worst year production-wise for WRs in the last decade of any team. We and everyone in the world knew we had a bigger need at WR than probably every team in the NFL. We needed to not just upgrade the position, but upgrade it in a significant way. And being that all the free agents are gone, all the top level guys on the trade block have been dealt, that 1st round pick will likely be our best asset in addressing the position this year. And the best Howie Roseman could get the whole offseason for his franchise QB who desperately needed a top level guy was Jalen Reagor. I like Reagor, but I'm sorry, that's not good enough. It's kind of a disgrace actually. With all the options out there available if this is the best he can do he flat out failed his QB.

I'll tell ya, we are very fortunate Carson Wentz is a total class act and a team guy, because if he was a diva type, I couldn't wait to get out of here fast enough. 3 of the 4 years they've given him subpar receivers. He got hurt in a season where he was playing like an MVP, and then because of one playoff run, as amazing as it was, half the city becomes Foles stans. He has a teammate or teammates talking trash about him behind his back to reporters like Josina Anderson and Joe Santoliquito. He gets hurt every single year because we had medical staffs from hell.

We should be very fortunate that Wentz even wants to still be a Philadelphia Eagle with all the crap he's had to go through since he's been drafted. We truly don't deserve him.

Maybe I should have waited until now to post this take from earlier. 😩

Nobody wants Nate

I’d disagree. Some team would want a backup if they believe he’s a quality backup. It’s not going to be a second round pick but i tend to believe he has value to a team as a backup. Just cause the eagles were stupid enough to take hurts in the second round doesn’t mean teams don’t have some value in their backup QB. It’s how chase Daniel has stuck around for years. He’s literally garbage

Somewhere......Chip Kelly is laughing

Passing on Mims was atrocious

The only way I would feel better if they say they are moving him to HB.

Mcnabb was 4 years older than Wentz is now.

But yet less injury prone.

Never said it was gonna be a good pic. Just said I think they could wind up trading him to some team that wants him

then thats a double loss for us

Should have had Miles Sanders announce the pick

I thought the Jets would take him earlier. They traded down and still got him because we are dumb as hell
