So, you are suggesting that Hurts is not a QB, but a RB/WR/Gadget guy?   Now... that said, he's got decent speed for a RB that size.  He has a nice sturdy thick build.  So, he cross trains to RB, but offers the chance to be a gadget throwing guy.   Has he ever run a pass pattern?  Has he ever pass protected?

No, he is our Hill, part QB, part RB, part WR.  Frankly, this is an incredibly stupid pick, IMO. I think they could have drafted him in the fourth. I can’t wait to see Howie explain this one.  I was just playing with why.  It is the only explanation I can come up with.

I don't think they're banking on anything.  The pick has no relation to the team's needs, Desean or Carson.

Ok, if this is an insurance pick to back up Wentz in case of injury, I’ll still hate it but try and cope. 
 

If they pull Wentz off the field to do gadget plays like Taysom Hill and mess up Wentz’s flow during a game, I’ll revolt. That is stupid. Sometimes it works for the saints but it’s mostly a drive killer and pisses off the starting QB. 
 

this just screams "we don’t have faith in Carson staying healthy”. It’s inviting a media circus. May as well sign Colin Kaepernick and Antonio Brown 

This is a joke right.  I can't think straight.  I've had the TV muted since the pick.  I can't wrap my head around this.  I'm trying, really trying to see the benefit.

We invested 3 years in Sudfeld.  Brought him back again.  Does that mean we are carrying 3 quarterbacks again.  Wasting a roster spot every game day.  This is pathetic.  Absolute joke of a franchise.

If you read these comments on Hurts (especially what Press Taylor says), and if you believe it's possible, the Eagles seem to want to be on the cutting edge of the next offensive wrinkle to change the NFL.

I am not defending the pick, I am just trying to figure out what the heck the Eagles are thinking.    But this doesn't appear to be the next Kevin Kolb type situation. 

 

I’ll do my best to play devil’s advocate here somehow to try to rationalize this pick:

The guy had Kyler Murray-type stats at Oklahoma.  Everyone knows he’s not Murray, but obviously Howie and Doug (and I smell a Marty M influence on this from the Ravens offense) must see this as a high-caliber/low cost insurance policy at QB against Wentz getting injured

I’m not even succeeding at convincing myself — but this must be the thought process

How does it not? It’s a second round pick. It most certainly has to address a team need because the team has bigger needs and they passed on them all for a backup QB
