Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Damn, Douglas got A****n Davis? Maybe Howie was holding him back. Damn.

Reich over Doug, Joe over Howie. We let the wrong people go.

so what players are left that the Eagles can pass on?

also what Howie said about having to basically nail these next 6 picks is hilarious considering we just wasted a 2nd rounder on a QB

So, who wants Bill O'Brien at GM instead?

"Eagles QB Carson Wentz has requested to be traded."

..  is what I expect next.

We'll see who they draft at 103. If its another receiver maybe it'll be ok. Anything else though and I wouldn't blame him for wanting out if that ended up happening

Douglas is drafting some damn explosive athletes.  Perhaps Howie has been the problem.

Reagor and Hurts qualify as damn explosive athletes as well actually.

There is no positive outcome next year where Hurts is a significant contributor?

Well, you don’t buy insurance for positive outcomes. You get insurance to mitigate negative outcomes.

And it isn’t just about next year. It’s about the 4 years of value you get from the pick. If you get a good backup who wins you a super bowl like Foles did, then would anyone complain? If he starts 4 games per season while Carson is hurt, and the rest of the time he gives Hill type production, and then you flip him for a bunch of draft picks, wouldn’t that be a win?

Like I said, it’s not what I would have done, but there is definitely some sound thinking to support the pick.

You don't use a 2nd round pick on insurance when there's other glaring needs.  Sure they need insurance but a 2nd round pick is too expensive a premium.

Think it’s a terrible message sent to the QB you just invested 100 million in. Haven’t criticized Howie or Doug since Super Bowl. Honeymoon is officially over.

Is it a terrible message to Desean to draft Reagor? Come on — this is the NFL. You need depth, you need competition. If competition breaks a player’s will, then they are in the wrong business.

I feel like the whole NFL is laughing at us

Hurts is about to get booed worse than McNabb did. No one in Philly wanted him.

I will never cheer for him

Say what you want....this is pretty impressive....52 TD's last season.....

Hurts certainly qualifies as a dual-threat quarterback: Last year at Oklahoma he passed for 3,851 yards and 32 touchdowns, and ran for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns. This year in Philadelphia, expect a creative approach to getting Hurts involved.

Still not defending the pick.  Would have loved Mims there...or a CB/S.

Oh, I think he's going to be on the field in the red zone constantly.  But, he needs to prove that he can be a RB type runner.  He's big, so that's good.   Runs well, so that's good.  But, as a thrower, he's a one read QB more than anything else.  I suppose it makes the Philly Special into the 'Philly Usual' now in the red zone though.

So, when do they get a LB? When do they get another CB or S? WR, QB, then WR. I don't get that man.

These stats are completely bonkers.

As the Tuna said, "if you have two QBs, you have no QBs". This is a tried and tested truth in the NFL.

Why?

QB is by far the most important position. If you can win an extra 3 games per season with a second round pick, that’s a GREAT return.

We did know that. And so, he sucks.

Now we are finding out definitively about Howie. And maybe he is a little too crazy.

Lets see what he does with the rest of the draft. If they hit on a bunch of the mid-late picks it can be salvaged pretty well.

I did say earlier today I thought this would be the first draft that would be a true "Howie” draft.

He’s either brilliant or bat ish crazy

Doug looked pretty happy with the pick. I put this as much on him as Howie. No chance Doug wasn’t in on the decision.

absolutely. Theres no chance the GM just does this without a coach coming and saying lets get in on some of that 2 QB action.

Still 32 picks to go.  Please Howie.  Trade Rasul Douglas with 103 to someone and move up.  Save your freaking fan base.

What's amazing is that no one is complaining about this being a reach, as Hurts was comfortably a 2nd round pick based on talent, character and positional value.

Despite that, it's still a bad pick.

Mims was the obvious pick there. If they went LB or S.. or even DE, I’d be ok. But this goes completely against paying Wentz big money. You either trust him to stay healthy or you don’t. When you pay your QB, every draft pick needs to become a starter. You use a valuable asset to be a backup to your biggest asset on the team. All this does is create drama. Carson’s press conferences are gonna be cringe-worthy. People were saying Rodgers is gonna be pissed. He’s old. Carson is in his prime. They passed on a weapon for him, for a guy who plays the same position. The media is gonna junp on this every chance they get. There’s no justification for it whatsoever. It only works out if Hurts wins a SB as the backup, which isn’t a plan.

FFS I don't like the pick either but the meltdowns on here are ridiculous.

In what way? You don't like the pick, you complain about it the way you want to and let others release their stress the way they want to.

I'll cheer for Hurts. It isn't his fault he got drafted to a team that has no real use for him. Boo Howie.

This is what I'd ask Howie at the PC.

Arent there other needs on the team you can address with a 2nd round pick besides backup QB?

Where and how do they plan on using Hurts?

It’s a different kind of reach. It’s like drafting a TE in round one. We don’t need it and have assets tied up in that position. But this is worse
