It’s really amazing to me that most of the fan base seems to have forgotten that we won the super bowl with a backup QB.

That the team didn't spend a 2nd round pick on

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Man. I’ve disagreed with @eagle45 on lots of things, but besides wanting Curtis Samuel, he may as well have been speaking for me the last few days.

102 players will be taken by our pick at 103 and so far we have ONE player that will see the field next year !  Think about that.

I didn't research QB's at all....other than the later-round developmental types because I never expected them to take one in the 2nd round this year.  That said, the more I look into Hurts, the more I like him.  The kid looks pretty dynamic on film.

As a player I like Hurts a lot.   The guy makes plays and seems like a super high character add to any locker room.   I even believe that over time he might be able to be developed into a high quality #2 QB.

If the Eagles had done this at the bottom of Round 4 I would have been totally fine with it.

But at #53 it just seems like overkill, and it feels like the Eagles are guilty of being too arrogant here about this.

I am generally supportive of Howie's creativity as a GM, but I don't think humility is ever a word that would be used to describe him.

our boy Ojemudia just went.

This reminds me of when I was in Disney World...

We were in line for the River Rapids ride... it starting raining, but they didn't shut it down... we got closer to the front... the rain got harder... but they didn't shut down the ride.  We got closer to the front, people started bailing from the ride... we got closer and the lightning started, but they didn't shut down the ride.  We got on the ride, and asked the workers, "So, how bad does it have to be before you shut this ride down."

The answer came, "Oh, the ride is shut down now, you are the last one."  Then a huge lightning crash... but we were stuck, and had to go on the ride.

We rise higher and higher up the incline to the start of the chute... rain is so hard now its hard to see more than a few feet in front of you.  Lightning and thunder all around... and then we went down the hill and my wife said, "Oh yeah... this is a ride."  It didn't stop.

Ojemudia gone.  Now Zuniga gone.  This is a bad night.

well, heres the thing. Many of us were putting a backup QB in to our mocks. It was a known need, and mostly expected.

Only difference is that we all had it 4th round or later.

If they hit on that 4th round pick, then you could really say, who cares which order these guys were taken in. As long as they all turn out it doesnt make a difference.

So yes, theres no reason to give up. All the more reason to nail these next few picks.

Aaaand we just missed out on Zuniga.

correct. people excited to tune in to something related to sports as a distraction from it all and fricken ESPN of all networks is just hammering you with more corona coverage.

Yup, it's beyond overkill.

Joe Douglas is having a GOOD draft.  I think we know what the problem was.

Thankfully we addressed our offensive issues all offseason

is

The only rationale I can come up with for this pick is they just don't believe in Wentz that much anymore. It's the only thing that makes sense. Not saying that makes it a good pick, it doesn't.

But that also is infuriating, because if that's the case, YOU JUST SIGNED HIM TO A MEGA EXTENSION.

Either way this is dumb. What Howie said at face value in them just wanting to "add QBs" is dumb.

Them losing faith in Wentz a year after extending him is dumb. Nothing about this is smart.

Howie Roseman thinks his roster is built to win right now. He couldn't get a backup QB in free agency, which matters when your QB is Wentz, so he used a 2nd rounder. That is what happened. Hurts is a good person and will be a great teammate. This is still sub-optimal.

yes I care

I really wish the XFL survived, expanded and brought a team to Philly.

No, I turned off the TV I don't care. I posted earlier I hated this entire offseason, I'm honestly hoping the NFL season is cancelled now so I don't have to watch the Cowboys win the NFC East in 2020, because they're going to if we have a season.

It really really helps to have those high picks.

He had glaring weaknesses prior to being here. He totally sucked here... the answer may be both. But he should not be exonerated at all. Hes terrible.

And there goes Lynn Bowden to the Raiders.

Howie Roseman is a Fing idiot

Fing Bowden...

If he believes this, he should be fired on the spot. And even if he was right, you trade down for picks next year.

I get we need back up QBs.  But a 2nd rou.d pick on a guy that you hope rarely plays and then you miraculously trade for a pick higher than the 53rd in a future draft because you "developed" him?  Didn't develop Sudfeld.  Didn't develop Thorson.
