Yes, I get it.  I know the Eagles didn't have 3 Top 85 picks.

But going into the draft I was hoping Howie would go #21, #103, and a 4th or 5th with WR's, or 2 WR's and one of the RB/WR hybrids.    But 3 skill level players with speed and athleticism added to the offense.

Well... they could still do that.  You didn't mention #53... so you could end this weekend happy.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I went into tonight thinking Mims falling to 53 was a pipe dream. It happened. I thought the Eagles would go LB or S. Or pass rusher.

We drafted Tim Tebow. Unreal.

Nah. He's better than Tebow.   Go look at some of his game film/highlight reels.  Hurts' passing game made dramatic improvements in 2019.  He has a gun for an arm and he was fairly accurate, completing 69% of his passes with 32 TD's only 8 int in 14 games.   I understand not liking the pick in the 2nd round but from first glance, Hurts seems like a really talented kid.

Obviously I'm in a very small minority, but I really like the Hurts pick. As a pure back-up QB, no. But as a potentially better than Taysum Hill gadget player, absolutely. If used correctly, our offense could be a nightmare to defend. I know it's unpopular to say, but I commend the bold pick!

Couldnt they have taken him in the 4th or 5th round?

Anyone else starting to think the draft should get delayed?

Howie thinks it is and this is just a mock

Hurts is absolutely a high character kid.   So, he's going to say the right things, do the right things... he's not going to cause waves.  He's like a Foles 2.0 in that respect.

One thing that is a shame about this wildly unpopular pick is that I think Hurts has super high football character and is a real leader.    I like him as a prospect.

Alright I'm too tired to stay up. My prediction is long snapper next

Gabriel Davis  @ 103? Maybe K'von Wallace or Davion Taylor if they go defense.

Yes most definitely. But its a pretty long way away and the way tonight is going I cant get too attached. Pretty sure next pick will be a boring OL that wont start this season either.

Also, where is all this "Wentz might retire" coming from? People speculating for fun?

Luck retiring plus Wentz injuries (especially the bad concussion)

If he retires I guess drafting our next starting QB in Round 2 for $1.15M looks pretty great

If Wentz mentioned retirement to the Eagles, the decision suddenly makes sense and isn't magical thinking.

Wentz is someone who has had some ideas and passions outside of football.  His love of the game and desire to win has NEVER been questioned though.

But this isn't the most unreasonable speculation given the sheer lunacy of the pick.

And there goes Cushenberry...

I honestly don’t hate hurts. Or think he’s a bad QB prospect. I hate the fact the eagles took him at 53 when they have massive other needs because of poor drafting at CB and WR over the years and traded away multiple 3rd rounders because of their bad job evaluating.  To me we weren’t in a position to have a luxury pick of a backup QB that we use like hill and try in 3 years to trade off for a Kings ransom. If we had done better trades and drafting I’d say go for it you have given yourself that luxury. They haven’t. So future they might reap benefits but Carson’s prime is right now at 27 and you could’ve used multiple players sitting there at 53 that could be key cogs now and future.

I'm so jealous of all these teams drafting players who are slated to make an immediate impact.  Terrell Lewis to the Rams.

Gadget plays? Where we line Wentz up at WR and he does nothing?
How about we just snap it to our best player? F’ing A. Smh.

I'm not advocating anything, I am reading what they have put out there.

And I think it would be (or at least hope it would be) Hurts lined up next to Wentz in a RB position in the shotgun...

Is there any team in the NFL who has done a worse job at helping their franchise QB this summer than Howie... other than the Packers?

We've added one skill position player in almost 2 months.

I'll wait to see what happens but it better be a nightmare to defend.

How long until morons start screaming for Hurts? You know as soon as Wentz had a bad game it'll happen.

Morons will moron but even the morons hate this pick.  Hurtz would have to tear it up in the pre-season for this to be a remote possibility.

Garbage

you DO NOT draft a qb in the second to do nothing with him.  howie and doug are not gonna let hurts just be their gadget qb that they will let walk after his rookie deal.

it's not controversy.  i actually see it more as a confirmation of how good wentz actually is.  i think wentz will play well enough to be able to demand a big second contract which the birds will not want to afford.  this is why hurts was drafted.

What would you rather do at backup QB?

Nate Sudfeld stinks; people need to face that fact.  He lost his job to a 42-year-old semi-retired McCown.

You keep saying this.  They already gave Wentz a second contract.

Blackmon going that high with an ACL injury is something.

Denial. It's harder to admit your team royally Fed up than it is to just bury your head in the sand. This pick was an abomination.
