Does the organization not like Wentz or something? What is about him? His fundamentalist religious values, the fact that he's from North Dakota, because he's a republican? What the F gives?

I think it’s just sheer incompetence and arrogance. It’s an odd infatuation to be considered "trend setting” solely for attention sake.

Our colleagues across the state have won more championships and more consistently successful because they just do the simple things needed to win.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Spuds is on WIP right now.....basically saying Howie is looking 3 years down the road in developing a good NFL QB....also said the pick was extremely unexpected for everyone, including himself....

...also said the Eagles don't look at him as a Hill....weight differences, etc...doesn't make sense in that regard....says the Eagles really think he will be a NFL QB.....

....says if the Eagles had picked Hurts in the 4th round, everyone would have been happy with the pick......it's because they picked him with 53 that people are questioning it.....

Yeah, no ish. Exactly. And that’s the whole point. You passed on immediate starters for a project that hopefully never plays. In round two. Of course no one would question it in the 4th. That’s because it’s the 4th. This was a valuable asset and we passed on potential starters. What a ridiculous take. Also, water is wet

Howie drafted like an accountant. Completely unacceptable.

Nah, most accountants out there would not have gotten us JJAW and Hurts out of 2 2nd round picks.

LOL

and what the hell did Howie say--"no one has gotten more value out of the QB position"?  Something like that?

what did that mean??

Their trades 10+ years ago and the Bradford trade.

How much money?  This pick is at least partially to fill an important roster spot cost effectively, unfortunately

Given the market, whatever it takes to bring in Flacco or Jameis.

We got a Pro Bowl MVP candidate and our backup won a SB and was named MVP. Hard to beat that.

Welp, there goes Duvernay. This is torture

hurts' contract will be easier to swallow than wentz's.  and if howie can find a trade partner down the line, he'd be able to move wentz for draft capital..  potentially save $$$$ instead of paying it out..  and extend hurts to be the starter on a cheaper deal than wentz, after playing behind him for all those seasons.

heck hurts may even be ready to be the starter if doug uses him more and more on the offense with gadget plays where he has to pass instead of run.  hurts could be comfortable enough to actually run the offense at that point.

More likely that Howie is banished to the other side of the building before any of that comes to fruition. He’ll be out of a job.

If Hurts never plays, then Wentz is healthy and playing well, so we're making the playoffs and/or competitive every year.

The problem with insurance is no one likes paying for it, and no one wants to have to use it.

I always go with a high deductible take my chances. Was he the best policy for the money ?

This is what drives me crazy.  Round 1 and Round 2 players should be making an immediate impact.  I hate this mindset.

IF... you are hitting on the picks, then it can work.

But... they absolutely can't afford this to happen because they've missed on Jones, seem to have missed on Whiteside, missed on Agholor, no first round pick in 2018.

There goes Duvernay. Now Eagles can trade back and we all watched 5-6 hours of the draft to see the Eagles reach for a backup QB.

Raiders with Ruggs, Bowden, Edwards is the kind of draft I wanted.

No way in hell Nelson is making that team.

We could use a slot WR.  Maybe we trade our 3rd for him.  The guy was a first round pick once.

Duvernay to Baltimore. ...that sucks

Nitpicking?  No.  Wentz' new contract JUST starts this year.  Technically, he's still in the rookie window, 5th year option.  But rather than pick up the option directly, they extended his contract 4 years... so he's under contract until 2024.

So, you are saying the succession plan is to let Wentz go, or trade him after 2022, and then move on to Hurts, or do it after 2024 and hope that Hurts has shown enough to turn the keys over to him?

Hmmmm.....

That would almost make it sound like a Kordell Stewart type plan.  But Stewart was a different kind of athlete to Hurts.  He was fast enough to be a legitimate WR weapon.  But... its a thought.

doug and howie just got off a conference saying they want to use hurts as a passer, so yes..  i do see a taysom hill sorta role for him early as a gadget guy.  but i see doug bringing hurts in on those gadget plays to eventually pass more, instead of being a running threat.

by the end of carson's contract, i thinking doug and howie hope hurts is comfortable enough passing in doug's offense to potentially take over for carson IF they do not want to afford any future extensions.  by that time, extending hurts would be much more cap friendly than extending wentz.

I wish I'd posted the tweet of the meme of 2 Spiderman's pointing at each other that said "Wentz and Hurts talking about that time their backups came in to win championships."

😅

Drafting hurts at 53 is exactly how you give Wentz the weapons and the confidence he needs to be successful in this league.

BS. Hurts has proven Jack crap at the nfl level. Again sugar coat it all you want. Hurts has proven nothing at the nfl level. And has played at bama and Oklahoma two of the schools that provide QBs with the greatest talent around him. and yet QBs from those schools have panned our really well right when they didn’t have the luxury of 5* players galore on offense...

I’m done with this convo if you honesty believe hurts right now today is better as a backup then Flacco or sudfeld who’s been in the system for 2-3 year. BS

Neither has Joe Burrow if that’s your argument

With pick 103 the Eagles select: Pass

Howie: We didn't feel there was value at 103 and that we can wait for players to fall to round 4 where their value is higher.

"Deepest WR draft ever" and we walk away with a midget with drop issues, and a backup gadget QB. Way to F it up Howie.

I can't Fing believe since March they've added one skill position player. ONE. It's so Fing unacceptable.

Wentz deserves so much better than this.

Yup. It’s what i have been preaching. I’d have no qualms doing so if we didn’t piss away picks in JJAW, jones, Douglas, jmatt or agholor. And then compounded it by making trades where darby ultimately got one good year out of for a third. Got 8 games out of tate. And poor drafting forced us to give up another third for slay. That’s the problem with taking a backup QB at 53 when you have pissed away picks you don’t have the luxury.

Literally no more receivers of any use.
