Thought exercise...

Would Hurts be able to win a playoff game if we end up in the same situation as last season?

He damn sure better. Otherwise this looks even worse. Even if he can, it isn’t a good pick. Because you don’t draft based on worse case scenario. We got lucky with Foles. But when you pay your franchise QB big money, you make moves with the assumption he’s gonna be healthy for your big games. You can’t play scared and worry about worst case, or you shouldn’t have paid your QB. I understand Wentz has an injury history. I understand backup QB is important, trust me. I watched the SB. But I’m saying that should be an anomaly. If you pay a player huge money, you shouldn’t be using valuable assets to hedge your bets. If you pay Wentz, you believe in him staying healthy. If not, don’t pay him. You can’t realistically expect to always have a backup that can win playoff games. You have to trust that your QB will play in them and win. You get that guy weapons to help him get there, not hedge your bets in case. You either believe in him or you don’t. The money says one thing, the second round pick says another.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

No, but if it was I would piss my pants

Its been a long day, followed by a confusing night.

I would never believe that this was a Roseman pick. It’s drunk Uncle Doug all the way.

I still can’t believe Baldy predicted it. Insane.

Amazing.

His take makes sense.  I'm starting to warm up to this.

Same guy that said JJAW moved like AB.  He's on a roll with our second round picks.

They're trading Wentz and Ertz to some team 😳😳

Amik Robertson, DPJ, Bryce Hall, Lamical Perine, K'Von Wallace tomorrow. And then grab some good WRs and LBers in UDFA. Also like Lamar Jackson as an UDFA.

KJ Hill, Watkins, Colin Johnson,  Gandy-Golden

Can we drop the BS of building around Wentz?  Drafting a QB is building vertically, either on top or beneath Wentz.  It's literally the antithesis of building around him.

I’m sure this has been mentioned already but maybe Carson has mentioned to them that if his injuries continue to pile up he could retire in a year or 2.

Watch DPJ's tape. He is so underrated. I agree with KJ Hill too. Grab them both along with some CB, S, and a RB

howie wants no part of another wentz contract.  he WILL be happy to extend hurts at the end of his rookie deal though.

wentz in gonna wentz and win games for us.  doug will work in hurts as a gadget guy first, but eventually take over when wentz plays his way out of philly.

As the shock wears off, I truly believe Lurie/Howie looked at what Foles was able to do as a backup vs what happened last season and decided that they need a sustainable, quality solution at backup QB.

Still wouldn't mind Donovan people Jones tomorrow make him compete with JJ and alshon at the x

Dpj and kj hill please

If Hurts as a rookie is forced into a friggin playoff game after spot duty at the most all season he ain’t winning that game. I doubt any rookie wins that game.

If that's the rationale, then Wentz is not a franchise QB.

Not sure I’ll be there anytime soon.

Agreed. DPJ had bad qb play at Michigan. He's better then what his production shows. I'd pass on S. Been picked apart and nothing but scraps left

I'm booking an April 2021 vacation somewhere without wifi or cell service the second they release the dates of next year's draft.

A rookie QB is hardly sustainable and maybe if Carson has real weapons to throw to against the Seahawks then maybe he doesn’t get hurt?

This. Everything about this pick is tone deaf.

And you know the media is going to run with it. Frank has already put out an article saying the eagles don’t think wentz is the guy by the pick

Even so... Hurts? The guy who was benched at halftime in the most important college game in his life... I’d rather go with Sudfeld.

Stuff Howie into that checked baggage of yours.
