I’m sure this has been mentioned already but maybe Carson has mentioned to them that if his injuries continue to pile up he could retire in a year or 2.

I’m thinking he told them that exactly.

”look, if I get 2 more concussions, I’m done””. My health and Family first”

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Don’t think anyone got those two picks in the masters of the draft lol.

There are 2 or 3 that got Taylor

If that's the rationale, then Wentz is not a franchise QB.

What "franchise QB” in his twenties had his team draft another QB as high as the 2nd round before this moment. That tells you what the Eagles really think of this situation.

A rookie QB is hardly sustainable and maybe if Carson has real weapons to throw to against the Seahawks then maybe he doesn’t get hurt?

A.  He won't be a rookie every year.

B.  I don't understand the real weapons argument.

Damn. I didn’t see that coming.

2nd round pick on culture? Did Chip Kelly find a way to get back in the building?

For the love of any God they should all just stop talking

Does the J in KJ hill stand for Jalen? Need one more to close out the draft tomorrow

They're trading Wentz and Ertz to some team 😳😳

Normally I’d say you’re overreacting. Right now, then doubting Carson’s future makes more sense than any Taysom Hill garbage or any "QB factory” BS. If you’re a QB factory, Sudfeld would be a trade piece and whoever that guy we drafted last year wouldnt have been cut. Even if you want to cite Foles as a "successful QB development”, your current (and now former) staff only had him 8 months. You could argue Andy Reid had more to do with his development pretty easily. AJ Feeley was ages ago. Kolb sucked. You got lucky with Bradford who was a vet and high pick and what? Who are the successful QBs coming out of this factory? The best you got from a QB you drafted, ages ago and under a different staff was Feeley. He got you a second. You just spent a second. So either you expect him to play and get you first round value or you think he can win you a SB if your starter gets hurt. Getting you to the playoffs doesn’t accomplish anything. Getting a second back in trade gets you back to par, but parlays it to years later. What’s the upside. It’s either trading him years from now a round higher at best, or you think he can win you a championship. Both of the best case scenarios are highly unlikely and regardless of them, it hurts your roster and the confidence of your franchise QB immediately and creates a media circus. Even if the best case scenarios play out, unless it’s a ring, aren’t even close to worth the price of the inevitable.

Please elaborate

I am not going to criticize or debate Wentz.  I loved the pick in 2016.  I love what he's done since.  You don't draft a QB at #53 as insurance when you have a 27 year old franchise qb.  That's somewhere in the fine print of the Webster definition of a franchise QB.  You do that when you are concerned or not satisfied with what you have.

No it isn’t. Because you passed on weapons that could help Carson now. Even in theory that doesn’t hold water

I hope you know that was pure sarcasm. You aren't wrong though.

I like hurts. I think he is going to be a fine backup with time. i actually liked him at 103 or 127 if he was there.

But anyone who thinks this particular season with with no OTAs and no minicamps and shorten TC he’s going to be in the best position to win a playoff game or be successful no. 2 Qb as rookie is somewhat of a stretch. Frankly i think he wouldn’t even be the no. 2 this year. It’s sudfeld as he knows the system and isn’t going to be massively behind due to the current covid 19 situation.

i think you get some gadget plays in 2-3 times a game. Otherwise his value isn’t until 2021 when sudfeld is gone.

A. Just cause he won’t be a rookie every year doesn’t mean he’ll be a good NFL player at all so the "sustainable” argument doesn’t make sense.
B. When Howie is drafting "sustainable” receivers like JJAW who aren’t bringing anything to the table while Russell Wilson had Metcalf make our veterans at corner look like confused rookies perhaps now you see my point. Wentz had PS players playing over Howie’s 2nd round pick,  because Howie’s pick sucked that bad.

Well you’re an idiot.  So that makes sense.

I still think we had bigger needs at 53.  I wouldn't of picked him there but we're not the Eagles' front office.  Doug Pederson seems thrilled with the pick so who knows.

This scenario is bound to happen this year... Wentz leads the team down to the 5 yard line... Wentz comes out for the "Hurts package”, and BOOM, turnover!

Right now, if Desean is healthy, you might be ok at WR if Ward is a starting caliber slot WR. One injury and JJAW is starting. Two injuries and you’re back to multiple practice squad WRs starting. Again, I talked to Alshon’s uncle and he’s not playing this season, and if he does it will be really late in the season and his legs won’t be in shape because both feet are injured. We have what we have. Unless you think Gibson has taken a huge step, our WRs are in bad shape

Correct. Same with anyone that went anywhere near after 53

What in the actual F?! You expect him to say he’s pissed about it?!

I can't think of a worser pick from 53 onward than the Eagles pick of Hurts

And that hurts my heart.

Meh.  We don't know how fast he will develop.  If he's a "high character guy, intelligent, learns fast" like his profile seems to show, he could very well be (somewhat) ready to go by late in the season.
