Colleges...want to be QB factories.  They turn it over every 2 years and supply the pipeline.

Pro teams...want to be OL/DL/WR/DB factories.

But Howie wants to open up the NFL's first ever QB factory.  I hope the factory teaches them to catch passes, block, and provide an edge rush in addition to clipboard holding skills.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Oh boy.

Gold standard.  Fastballs.  Juandamentals.

And now...QB Factory will live in infamy.

It lives in mythology thus far. There’s literally not one example. You sold the farm to draft Wentz, so his success better not be all on the coaches. Foles was on his fourth team. Besides that you have a guy we cut and a guy we replaced with a 40 year old journeyman and a guy we cut before the season. One example? There isn’t one

You just dont get it.  He's not here to be a starter, he's here to enable packages that require two QBs.  Watch NO's offense.  Taysom Hill did everything.  Stop posting this red herring.

Taysom Hill didn't reach 500 yards of total offense.

I can’t wait for them to put out their first product.

I think he was being sarcastic. But I almost bit too

And he was a udfa. Not a second round pick.

He benches 300+ (his college coach said 400) and squats 600. Physicality doesn’t worrry me. Even if he’s "only” 4.47 on the field, he is elusive and takes the ball from defenders. He jumps over guys. He does everything well. Take the speed away and he’s still a talented WR.

Great! I hope so! Because I see good, not great speed. And that’s all fine and dandy .

I would trade all three 4th round picks for Curtis Samuel.  Definitely too rich, but I don't care.  He'd help Wentz and the offense immediately, which is unlikely for all 3 guys they are about to draft.  And it would spare me the disgust of listening to 3 more Howie draft picks announced.

Win/win.

Cool? Try again. Nobody said otherwise

So you think it's reasonable to spend a 2nd round pick on that role?

An udfa claimed off waivers.

I have no problem if the Eagles want to use one of their compensatory 4ths for this, but a second?!

ESPN is constantly bringing up the Hurts pick like they're trolling, but most analysts seem to like the pick. What do they all know but we don't?

The ABC crew - all college analysts - loved the pick and thought it was great to have a Saints or Ravens type setup.  FWIW.

Never liked Samuel. Even before that draft. Seemed like a screen guy and gadget player. But at this point help your QB. Especially if it’s gonna be Jalen Hurts. He’s gonna need all the help he can get

Since we are on the topic that things that have never happened, let's review all the jaw dropping, head scratching Eagles moves that have worked out.

- 26 year old Canadian firefighter with no football experience.

- OL coach as DC.

- Kevin Kolb.

- No PR on the roster.

- Mike Vick.  I'll say they came close on this one.

- Releasing Desean.

Will investing a 2nd round pick in a QB factory when you have a 27 year old alleged franchise qb become their first "smarter than everyone else" move to work?

Mike Vick literally do workout lol we would've won it all that season if we beat the packers no doubt in my mind. He also completely turned his career around and wasn't a distraction/off field problem.

The Eagles offense was fun to watch that year but I never thought they were a Super Bowl team at any point during the season. I think they lost a random Tuesday night game that year. If it wasn’t for that miracle comeback vs. the Giants I don’t think they make the playoffs.

Let's just get this draft and offseason over with so Howie doesn't have to outsmart himself again until the trade deadline when he gives up a 3rd rounder for an inactive WR from Miami.

Well we lost 21-16 to the SB champs and imo that speaks volumes. Our offense was disgusting on paper what KC is now is what the Eagles had the potential to be back then. F Chip Kelly

That Carson Wentz is one more good injury away from being taken out back. We can disagree with the pick but there is major concern when it comes to his health. Another concussion could be his last. This past one gave him memory loss and he had problems sitting.

Do you really think this was all Howie?!

This is drunk Uncle Doug. No way this pick happens without his influence let alone his blessing.

I understand they want to emulate what hill does with the saints. However even the saints didn’t spend a 2nd round pick on a QB to do that. Hill was a udfa they got via waivers. The third rounder they spent at QB was Grayson who they thought would be brees replacement as brees was older and they thought he’d retire.

Just saying you want to run what Taysom hill and the saints do, then utilize Greg ward better cause he’s a former college QB as well and all last year we waited for them to run a trick play or gadget play with him and they didn’t.  And every single week we called for it. Ward is capable of running gadget plays as a former QB.

Our offense then was nowhere near what the KC offense is now.

Losing is losing and they lost at home. That team was never destined to be a super bowl team.

I don't really care.

Other teams either have successful drafting GM's or cycle them out after failures.  Howie has been the common denominator after years of questionable drafting with multiple coaches and personnel guys cycling out and taking their turns absorbing blame.

Maybe Doug had a hand in this.  Maybe it was all Doug.  This was their "get up off the canvas" draft after really leaving a bunch of holes on the roster in recent years.  It's not OK.

That’s probably true but if I recall he would have been cleared to play the following week.

Our oline was also awful. We had mcglynn and i believe max Jean Gilles starting.

From Don on the other board

Caplan: "This one for the life of me, I don't... everyone I've spoken to around the league and Eagles sources, they don't, no one's quite clear on why the 2nd"

Mosher: "I talked to 3 different NFL scouts, 2 in the AFC and 1 in the NFC, and I asked all 3 of them, actually 4 different scouts and I asked every single one of them what grade they had on Jalen Hurts as a quarterback, and not one single one of those scouts told me they had anything higher than a low 3, mostly low 3 early 4 or day 3 slash developmental quarterback, so that's the problem with the messaging right now coming from the Eagles."

Ok. But even if that’s the case now, the one concussion doesn’t change anything. If that’s the belief, then they shouldn’t have paid him all that money. They previous injuries were worse than the latest one. Him getting concussed on a cheap shot doesn't take him from franchise QB to liability. Yes. Concussions are scary. But it takes more than one to make a guy retire. If what you’re saying is the reason for drafting Hurts, then that means Carson has made it clear he’s close to shutting it down. And honestly that’s the only theory that justifies this pick. That’s scary as hell. Because that’s the only thing that makes sense and Jalen Hurts isn’t a franchise QB. If that’s the case, the pick was fine, but that’s damning for our future because we’re stuck with Wentz’s contract and the picks we have up to get him. That would be tragic on so many levels. Makes Luck retiring look like nothing. I’d rather the team waste a draft pick than that. But one makes more sense than the other
