So no, you cant show me where i suggested he could be drafted as a franchise qb.

First i never said you said he’d be a franchise qb. So if you going to comment saying i said that then obvious probably shouldn’t tell me I’m lazy and didn’t read.

Again have a goodnight. I’m done.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

That second round pick that Howie valued so much the day before. So much he didn't move up to get Lamb.

Exactly. That means Jalen Hurts, whether backup QB or gadget player was more valuable than Lamb, Mims, talented LBs and safeties. Why? That’s the question.

I wanted Wentz way before that draft. We drafted him on my birthday. I said it was my favorite birthday gift. I want nothing more than for Wentz to be here for a decade and lead us to championships. That’s my dude. But I can’t ignore the logic of a second round pick QB a year into his contract.

So you’re suggesting that picking a gadget player and backup QB is more valuable than weapons for your starter or starting players at other positions of need in the second round?

Of this was later in the draft I might agree

I'm not actually saying that, I'm saying we invested in a player and its far too early to call that a "wasted resource" but go ahead if you want to.  that doesn't mean im calling you an idiot or whatever else im being accused of.

AJ Fn Feeley came in as a 5th and left as a 2nd.  AJ Feeley.  If three years from now this investment returns a win streak while carson is on the mend that protects a playoff run, a super bowl win, an impact on the offense, a cheaper option at QB that enables us to bring in FA depth, and a 1st round pick in return?  Sure he's a good second round pick.

You're also looking at the 2nd round pick with rose colored glasses.  Do i think he's worth dawkins?  no.  Do I think he could return as much as JJAW?  Possibly.  Eric Rowe?  yup.  Agholor?  maybe.  Marcus Smith?  Yup. Danny Watkins/Jarrett?  Yup.

If you want to assume the second rounder would be a starter sure go ahead.  But you're ignoring history and common sense to do it.

I'm not saying Hurts will be a starter or a franchise or anything else I'm saying we'll see.  You guys are saying its a wasted pick and i'm saying we'll see.  What's the point in chasing our tails and pretending we know he's a bust already?  I get that you do it every year but that's sort of my point.  We'll see.

He's not more valuable. We know Howie is an idiot in the draft. He's proven that.

Safe to say Eagles go 4-2 in the division. I know they play the afc north. I’ll give them 2-2 there. Then 3-3 or 4-2 against the remaining opponents.

Classic deflection

Deflecting what?  Do you even know what you're talking about at this point?  you had no point to deflect.  We have to go over the list of what he could be again, really?  Read any of the thousand articles or posts about him.

It's not safe to say that at all, did you watch this team last year? And they have added one piece to get better, while the rest of the division on paper looks significantly better. They can just as easily go 3-3 or a nightmare scenario of 2-4. This is not the same division as last year.

The eagles could definitely be the best team in the division if they keep their heads out of their arses, which they did not do last season. We'll see how the rest of this draft plays out but right now we are behind the curve

No.  For one you're assuming the hype that those picks were for sale and that a 2 gets it done but even assuming it did the calculus isnt Jalen hurts is more valuable than those guys, its Jalen Hurts + Jalen Reagor is more valuable than those guys.  Hurts only represents the delta between Lamb and Reagor, assuming that trade was even on offer.

In the draft value chart, a current 2nd round pick is worth a next year first. So you’re saying, IF Hurts shows out and gets us a first in a few years, it’s worth a second this year? I tell you what... no team would have traded a this year second for a 2022 first. That isn’t good and that’s the best case scenario you could think of

Just like with Thorson the initial problem isn't anything to do with the player, it's the process. This team doesn't appear to have a coherent strategy.

The only strategy appears to be going all in for a guy who can fill in for Wentz

Yep.

And so why is Jeffrey still here? DeSean too? Why did we trade for Slay? Those are moves for the next year or two when this team isn't going to be competitive anyway.

But, i didnt say that, did I?  What's the value of him coming in next season and going 7-1 in fill in duty and preserving a first round bye that takes Wentz to super bowl.  What if Wentz gets knocked out of a playoff game/super bowl that he comes in and wins.  What if his lower salary means we get a FA signing that makes a critical pick or catch in the super bowl.  What if he's the next guy to throw a philly special in the super bowl that gives us the win.  You're ignoring the value that he may add between now and the first rounder.  Maybe he busts maybe he doesn't but if he "shows out" he'll show out for us, and that adds value too.  So it's nothing like trading this years second for a 2022 first.  that trade doesnt put a body on the field.

If he comes in and plays well then how do you give Wentz the job back at that point? If he plays well and wins say 3-4 games in Wentz absence how can you go back to Wentz? That will be the second back up QB to do that...

Not that Hurts will because he's got nobody to throw the damn ball too really.

Huh?  You think if Wentz has the eagles at 10-1, Hurts comes in down the stretch and goes 4-1 to preserve the first round bye they don't go back to wentz?

I mean at that point how much credit can you give to Wentz?

I'm guessing he's not happy about the pick?

James Seltzer just hit the nail on the head. I literally don't care what they do with the rest of their picks. I feel the same.

They passed on Mims, Fulton and Chinn. Jesus freaking christ.

Oh yeah. His athletic write up is a small portion of it. I think we are allowed to post athletic stuff cause it’s free right now due to the corona virus special they have

I had to remove the article because not sure if we are allowed as it comes from the athletic. But berman gave it a D+. Someone in the comments wrote a D+ by Berman is worse than an F lol.

Here's the thing as well...

All these reports over the past couple of years that have taken shots at Wentz... And what they have just done is open all of that back up. Even if it's just fake news they've opened up that box again.

Haha very true but also... It's a big F and I can't give it anything higher than that.
