Here's the thing as well...

All these reports over the past couple of years that have taken shots at Wentz... And what they have just done is open all of that back up. Even if it's just fake news they've opened up that box again.

Haha very true but also... It's a big F and I can't give it anything higher than that.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Que sera sera

They spent much to get and keep Wentz. The concussion was not Wentz specific just wrong place wrong time ... or a late hit. Maybe Carson drew the line and they are forewarned

You’ll have a good time once you get to. Kapadia like i said makes a ton of really good points and is super animated. Berman also uses the eagles hubris plenty which makes some logical sense

Honestly this FO don't come out of this looking good at all. They've turned a lot of fans on them.

It's why I'm not buying this Taysom Hill explanation. Wentz is one of the best red zone QBs in the league. Taking him out of the game there puts you in a significant disadvantage. There has to be more to this. Either they don't view him as the future or Wentz has told them something about how he only wants to play a couple more years. Or they're just tired of failing at later round QB picks and decided to overdraft a backup QB in the second as insurance.

If Wentz feels that way for ANY reason, he was the wrong pick. I wouldn’t blame him after being concussed but still for us in the end the wrong pick for how much we gave up, a fail

I agree Wentz can't be concerned about Hurts. If he is then that's an issue and a concern. But if I'm Wentz I'm mega peed off that I've not been given more weapons to work with.

this tweet was actually good by les.

They passed on Mims, Fulton and Chinn. Jesus freaking christ.

I was about to get angry when we took Mins. Good value, but the D needed help and Fulton, Chinn and Espenesa were all there.

Now I would cry with joy if we could somehow swap Hurts for Mims.

Do you guys really believe Howie was the key influencer of the Hurts pick?

This is drunk Uncle Doug.

So he’s not ALL IN on Wentz ??? We’ll never know who was behind this but JUST an insurance policy is not the reason, better alternatives cost-benefit wise at least over the next year or 2

So much talent passed on for a player who you hope isn't needed.

Horrible pick.  Not much more to say really.  It is like they don't want to win another SB with a pick like that.  Just crazy.

edit: The only thing that offers even a shred of logic is that they want to use a system that includes shoveling in a duel running/throwing threat at QB for certain situations like the Saints use Hill.  I don't buy that logic as being the way to go but I'll concede that someone else may logically think so.  Doesn't change my opinion though.  I HATE the pick.

In 2017 we won a Super Bowl because our second QB played great. In 2019 we lost a playoff game because our second QB didn’t. If you have a QB that many here labeled as injury-prone you better have a good second QB.

This, if we have better than McCown in the playoff game last season then we probably win and Wentz is back next week

Still not the best allocation of resources but there is a logic

If your QB is injury prone and you believe that then you don't give him that big contract. So that's another mark against Howie.

Why is Howie so against giving Wentz weapons? Every other team does.

I found the new board! How is everyone doing?

Wait... COVID19 and the first two days of draft make that terrible timing to ask that question! 😬

Before you ask - yes I was asleep for the draft. Yes I know this mess is my fault. Yes I feel terrible about it!😟

Never.  In history, to my knowledge.

The Packers drafted Rodgers because they were looking past Favre.  AR drafted Kolb looking past Mcnabb.  Ravens drafted Jackson looking past Flacco (Howie even used this one as a damn example for Wentz!).  The Chargers drafted Rivers looking past Brees.

Pats drafted Garoppolo at 62.  Tom Brady was 36, nearly a decade older than Wentz.  And the rules literally don't apply to the Patriots, as we know.  Teams will line up to trade for Brady backups and Belichek pupils.  Doug and Wentz are no where near that stability or status.

So the only rational and reasonable answer is that Wentz not wanting to risk his health not much further ( Luck ), put them on notice. To avoid the pitchforks at the gate they should disclose this to the loyal fanbase but then again may not be legal. They could put out very subtle hints however. I’ll give Howie and DP the benefit of the doubt because there is no other logical explanation

A) Howie gets absolutely what he deserves for this pick, this early.  The timing of the pick may be the worst EVER.

B) Hurts wasn't brought in to be THE QB at any time.  I've watched a ton of OU.  It doesn't take long to see that Hurts is more of a Taysom Hill fit than anything.  He is an AWFUL passer. He has AWFUL technique and footwork.  He just runs around alot, which make him dangerous, WHEN he had premium weapons around him.

C) Doug is a QB at heart.  He knows this isn't a QB, so there must be some secret, "we are amarter than you" plan.  RB?

Its stupid and hindsight is a B.

I guess what good are the weapons if the QB can't stay healthy during the most important part of the season. Yea it's burnt money but I get it. My question now is, have they all been on board with Wentz since 2018. Forget the 💰

If Wentz told them that and this was their option of choice, the Eagles FO is way more F'ed than we even thnk.  Hurts is a train wreck as a QB.

This is inaccurate in every way.

I get that you don’t like the pick even a little bit and you have reason but this scouting report is nonsense.

I would suggest no.

And I'll say this... If they liked him and were worried he wouldn't drop to you in the third well you know what you let that happen. We don't have this luxury.

If you say so.  It is a bad pick as a QB, because he is not one.  We will see what the plan is as time goes on.

So did anyone like the round 3 pick?

You don't make a 2nd round pick for a backup QB when you have a young franchise QB on your roster who you've just signed for mega bucks.  Unless of course you have everything you need at all the other positions which clearly we do not have.
