The packers have had a pretty bad draft in my opinion

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

"I can't believe we drafted a backup QB instead of a player that could actually impact our team!"

Say the fans of the team who have finished their past 3 years with backup QBs in playoff games.

No problem with having a quality backup but who's to say Hurts will be that?

He hasn't played a down yet in the NFL.  Even in college he wasnt exactly known for being a great passer.

Only way I can see this working if Carson gets hurt is to put Hurts in a system like the one he ran at Oklahoma.  Play to his strengths.  If they try to make him into Peyton Manning it most likely wont work.

No draft pick is a guarantee. Lamb isn’t a guarantee, Ewagor isn’t a guarantee, Hurts isn’t a guarantee, Mims isn’t a guarantee.

To get a known quantity at QB, you’d have to pay a veteran $5M to $8M per year. With Hurts, you pay $1.5M. You can get a starter at a different position for the difference in that money, and with the QB, there is a good chance you can actually get your pick back when his contract runs down.

No LT for the wasteam. Wonder if they just drafted one.

Just drafted Charles from LSU.

Between trying to trade Dillard and investing in Wentz's replacement, this hasn't been a week for a show of confidence in anyone on the roster.

Except Desean staying healthy and JJAW contributing. They’ve shown lots of faith in that

SF get stronger then. Good move for them that. Really good move.

Sounds like Joe Staley isn’t coming back, so it might just be a wash. Williams hasn’t played in a long time

very interesting, the play below.

You do understand that you don't have to draft a backup q.b. in the 2nd round, right?

Bob, but Howie had him at the table and couldn’t get anything done while the rest of the league has their way with him.

Packers too. 13-3 and have gotten worse.

This is a fair point. It's impossible to evaluate our team over the last couple years and not think backup QB is an important role to improve the team.

I just don't like the idea of using a 2nd round pick on "plan B". If Wentz goes down, ish might as well hit the fan. We need to use a limited number of resources to surround him with talent. Our "Plan A".

But they’re all separated right now. If they’re all close on the field, in training facilities, locker rooms, etc this will spread like wildfire and will be a PR nightmare for the NFL if they don’t suspend since the NBA/NHL did mid season.

Yea, this is why the season won't be starting in Sept....  no matter what Roger says.

If JJAW somehow finds a way to turn his career around and be a solid WR, we’re in a very different spot right now. So much hinges on him.

Lurue isn’t sticking Howie back in the broom closet anytime soon though so we are stuck in nuetral. Gonna be a tough few years.

SB --> 1 playoff win --> 1st round exit

This isn't neutral.

You do realize the quality of player tends to drop the later in the draft you get right? I don't love the pick but there's no arguing that our backup QB has had a massive impact on the date of the eagles the past 3 years.

He is, but the local media doesn't play nice either.

No they don't.  I am not going to defend Howie for this specific pick, but I wouldn't exactly call the Philly sports media the most intellectually honest group ever.

Nice pick for the Giants. Holmes is super talented.

yep

Nice pick by the giants... We are not sweeping the skins and giants this year.

run on UCLA players

Agree, but that's a heck of a gamble. As it stands we have to hope Alshon get's healthy, D-Jax gets and stays healthy and of JJAW somehow becomes a player

True, but they have already put out the tape.  They might not feel that confident in their tape from the year before.

I don’t know. he would’ve been the number one pick after his freshman year. He would’ve been the no. 1-3 pick this year in the draft ( i 100 Percent believe the dolphins or chargers would’ve traded up with Washington to get him over Herbert or Tua and i think a team like Jacksonville and Carolina would’ve been in play since Washington and the lions would’ve been open to dealing the pick).

I really don’t see him falling like Matt Barkley. Barkley also had an injury that dropped him. Also I believe he has a better arm then him and more mobile than Barkley and in general better size for Matt Barkley. I’d be willing to bet a lot of money he’s going to go in the top five. Heck Sam Bradford got hurt his last year at Oklahoma and yet still somehow went number one because they thought that much of him as a prospect. Kind of feels the same with Lawrence who’s was the no. 1 recruit coming out of high school.
