Do the Eagles really make 5 picks today? You gotta remember there will be 3 QBs active on game day.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Rooting for K'Von Wallace.

I’d like wallace and Tyler Johnson back to back. Have a feeling we might trade back with one pick though

KVon Wallace

YESSSS!

Wallace is a good pick — now WR and RB next

Nice pick right?

Nice pick Howie!

Good pick. Didn’t know he was available

Wallace is ok. Another safety but he’s not a deep safety. 🤷‍♂️

I like the pick good value.

fire howie..  fromm was there for the taking. :furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious::furious:

I didn’t get a chance to post much of response this morning to some of the glass half full arguments presented about the Jalen Hurts selection.    Whether I agree or not I agree, I always appreciate well thought out positions and attempts to make logical arguments.

As mentioned in general I totally support the idea (in principle) of investing premium resources into backup QB.

Whether that is a $8M per year veteran backup QB, or a Top 100 pick (i.e. Nick Foles).    So I understand the salary cap and talent argument being made that Jalen Hurts is a quality insurance policy behind Wentz.  I also really like Hurts ability as a runner, and his potential to be developed as RPO type QB.   He doesn’t need to be a classic stand in the pocket, read thru multiple progressions guy as a backup.   Not in today’s version of the NFL.

However all decisions, must be made within the context of the current circumstance.   The current circumstances must always play a role in any final decision.

In my opinion the reason Jalen Hurts was a luxury pick the Eagles could not afford at #53 in the 2020 Draft is because of a simple list of names…

Dallas Goedert (49th overall)

Sidney Jones (43rd overall)

Rasul Douglas (99th overall)

JJ Arcega Whiteside (57th overall)

Mack Hollins (118th overall)

Donnell Pumphrey (132nd overall)

Nelson Agholor (20th overall)

Eric Rowe (47th overall)

Jordan Hicks (84th overall)

Marcus Smith (26th overall)

Jordan Matthews (42nd overall)

Josh Huff (86th overall)

Jaylen Watkins (101st overall)

Outside of Dallas Goedert (somewhat of a luxury pick himself as a 2nd top tier TE) that is 6 years worth of mostly Top 100 picks that are either no longer on the team, or are not even significant contributors.

That is very bad.

Even just random draft success odds suggests that a few of these guys from that list should be in their prime years, or ascending players, that make up the heart of the team.    Some of these guys should now be the leaders of the locker room.   At the very least some of these guys should have still been around as significant role players.    But nope.

If the Eagles had been able to hit on even a few more of these guys they might…they might…have been able to make the argument they could afford the luxury of #53 on Jalen Hurts.     They might have been able to make the "trust us” argument.

I hope the Hurts selection works out.  I will root for him.

But I do think he was a luxury pick the could not afford based on the last 6 years of draft mediocrity.

More importantly I really starting to seriously question if the Achilles Heel of this organization is what seems like "we are smarter than everyone else” hubris.   It's like they never learned their organizational lesson from the Juan Castillo as Defensive Coordinator fiasco.   Even Howie’s press conference after the Hurts pick rubbed me the wrong way.   Why not come out and just admit he understands why people would question this?    Isn't Howie comfortable enough in his position to acknowledge the questions?    Instead he seemed to have an attitude like how dare you question us "we are QB Godmakers”.

Not a fan of that approach, I found Howie's comments and defensiveness as disturbing as the pick itself.

😴😴

draft has been ruined for me, don’t care who they draft anymore. Seriously, F this team

Qb factory

I like that spoilered pick

ESPN has him ranked 252

With Mills, Parks and McLeod...  adding a young guy like Wallace was one of the boxes I wanted them to check.

Got it.
