You are taking one small quote and running with it. First off, McLane could be full of it. Second, even if that were the case, you ever think that maybe they had them in the same cluster and with good reason chose JJAW. Maybe they thought he was a better fit in the offense. They liked his character more, etc. You are getting all worked up though over one little snippet of something a beat writer said and running with it. I am not defending the pick, but the idea of taking McLane's word as gospel and trashing their process when you don't know anything for certain is silly in my opinion. Carry on though.

1) Obviously. If it’s false, great. If it’s true, it’s a huge problem. I’m going along with the report and discussing it as it’s presented. Do I have to premise every post with "if it’s true”?

2) Based on the report, Campbell was ranked higher. You take the higher ranked player at the position, period, especially since both were at positions of need — future X and a deep threat. And these are the types of discussions that absolutely should be happening in the weeks leading up to the draft.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

If the Eagles wait until pick 53 to get a WR and nobody unexpectedly falls, they should take Pittman. Dude is getting so underlooked in this draft class.

I know he was given the same title.  But do you really think Howie wouldn't press for the next level of control before they made anything official?  My point is, Joe Douglas had clout when he arrived.  He had done it before.  Howie's been here, how many years?  I just get the sense he wants that level of control after all this time.  Making the picks from somebody else's rankings does not sound like something he'd be OK with again.

I don't think he's soft.

They showed footage last year of him pissed off with coaches calming him down.

Kind of the opposite of soft, but sometimes reporters like to manipulate the visual.

From what I remember it was more so he was emotionally soft because he cried or something at one practice after a fight. I don’t put much stock into it though. People react differently when emotions are high

If you want to get all bent out of a shape over a report from Jeff McLane and take it as gospel, that is certainly you're right to do so. I just think it's silly. Common sense tells me the report is BS because a team isn't going to do a ton of leg work for MONTHS only to draft someone they have ranked lower.

Oohh.  here comes Tak McKinleys post draft, curse laden speech...

The most important thing about Dillard so far is that when he was in at LT, he did pretty well. That seems like a good foundation at least. And there is obviously some backing for him in the organization if they let JP go. Some doubt, too? Sure. But there is belief in the guy, and he has done it before.

No ..... the problem was the Eagles zeroed in on Pumphrey extremely early in the process, and there were lots of people on the EMB at the time who were touting him also.  There were others of us who kept saying ‘this guy is nothing like Sproles; Sproles was dynamic because of his PR prowess; this guy never even returned a punt in college’

The answer from the Pumphrey boosters was that it’s easy to learn how to return punts — he’s got such great quickness.  Quickness, playing against whatever competition San Diego State was beating up on.

The Eagles, for whatever reason, saw an heir-apparent in Pumphrey and traded up in the 4th round to take a player who had a 6th round grade on most boards.  Couple that with drafting Mack Hollins later in the same round — I thought for sure Howie must have been passing a dump for a whole hour when those crap picks were made.

Honestly the Mack hollins love I thought was way more than a pumphrey love during that draft. I was indifferent with the Pumphrey pick but I really didn’t want him. Their thought process was they got their third down back to replace Sproles in a year. Even though he was nothing like Sproles except for the fact he was short. I wanted Howard who went a couple pics before we took pumphrey and was hoping he’d fall to us and he didn’t.

Hollins I just never really understood the love. Was hoping to be proven wrong. And when Mayock and Jerimiah said teams move him up the board because of a special teams prowess and he was a six round pick prior to that it was like so we just drafted a guy two rounds higher because of special teams instead of what he can actually do at the wide receiver position. In my mind you could find special teams guys in round six and seven that could play wide receiver and be a great to good special teams guy.

I dunno. He talks about it being a collaborative effort. I’m sure he uses their rankings but makes decisions based on depth of the position in the draft, need and positional value.

AHh..  this is the ESPN broadcast...  NFLN let him go until Sanders hugged him out.  Boooo

Who’s taking it as gospel? We’re simply discussing it as if it were true, not stating it 100 percent happened.

Gargano is a clown. And so is that poster.  Neither one of them know ish.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Donald Trump of the Eagles message board. A truly delusional legend in his own mind, not to mention self appointed judge, jury and executioner. Just like that clown ''running our country'' if nothing else he provides some good comedy at his own expense.

I'm a little surprised Belichick played along so easily in Brady and Gronk's plan to get Gronk to Tampa.

Why?  Brady won on the backs of the Pats defensive approach.  Belichek learned D from some of the best in the business.  Look at the QBs that have filled in for Brady and how they did elsewhere.  When Stidham wins and the Bucs because of their D falter, they will be calling BB a QB whisperer and every bad team will be seeking Josh McDaniel for their coach and not realizing that the Genius is the D and little Steve is being groomed the successor.  BTW, I like Stidham.

Here we go with the politics.   Like I said.  The new Village Idiot of the Blog.  For anyone who wasn’t aware.  This is RJP from the old blog.  Start the ignore process now.  He tried to change his screen name in hope of a clean slate.  But it’s obvious, by how unlikable he is, that his screen name is all he can change.

You would be completely wrong as per usual. I made it very clear who I was from the old board, full disclosure from the start. Try again clown. While we are talking though, can you please tell me how to properly make meat. You being such an expert on meat and all.
