Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Howie's offseason motto...."Can he run?  Is he healthy?  Does he love to play?"

Jalen Hurts matches all three! 👀

I think that they did mention about the current pandemic that could have an effect was having to lean more on veterans since pre-season activities will probably be affected. Didn't directly cite Goodwin, but I think that's who they meant with the comment.

Could especially be a factor in bringing him in if Alshon isn't on the team

Prince Amukamara? Maybe a CB trade?

From Zeurlein.

Strengths
  • Just one fumble in over 400-plus career carries
  • His top-end speed is rather serious
  • Missed run fits and tackle angles turn into long touchdowns
  • Never had a season without a touchdown of at least 71 yards
  • Burst into the hole is instant when he hits it
  • Plenty of gadget play potential from slot or off-set
  • Able to burn it around the corner for future NFL jet sweeps
  • Can make explosive plays as pass-catcher

You all know how I feel about ball security, especially from backup RBs.   That's the kind of player you absolutely take a chance on with a UDFA signing bonus!

Small back but ultra explosive and possibly the fastest RB in college football.  Rumored to have run a 4.27.  Was not invited to combine and has a chip on his shoulder with something to prove.....

Howie, regarding WRs, looks at a healthy DeSean and Alshon as "additions" at WR.  Lauds Goodwin's speed.  Didn't plan to pick both Hightower and Watkins.

Oh great. Thats what he said when they took Hollins and then Gibson.

That’s doable. If he can remain healthy.

This is a laughable comparison. They aren't even remotely similar in their athleticism. Lamar's is world class.

When you put the whole draft in context, along with other moves, 3rd and 5th for Slay is part of the draft, they came out with a solid haul.

Hurts makes a lot more sense if Howie was confident he'd be able to get a couple of the WRs he coveted later in the draft, b/c good young QBs are hard to find.

After Hurts, you had Eason, Morgan, Fromm then the fliers. Do you project anyone of this trio as even a #2 in the NFL the next few years?

So for Howie, it was Hurts or commit to Sudfeld for a couple years.

With Wentz, he's unlikely to ever use a 1st rd pick on a QB. So how often will he be able to draft a real QB prospect even in the 2nd round?

2019:  #42 Lock. #100 Grier, #104 Finley, #133 Stidham

2018:  #76 Rudolph, #108 Lauletta, #171 White

2017:  #52 Kizer, #87 Webb, #104 Beathard, #135 Dobbs, #171 Peterman

2016:  #51 Hackeberg, #91 Brissett, #93 Kessler, #100 Cook, #135 Prescott, #139 Jones, #162 Hogan, #187 Sudfeld

2015:  #75 Grayson, #89 Mannion, #103 Petty, #147 Hundley

If you think a QB in the 2nd rd is a marginal NFL starter/top backup, you'd better take him, because you may not find another one for 4-5 years.

If you need a starting QB, you're pretty much focused on the 1st round.

Eagles were in-between, they have a young, franchise QB but he's not durable, so they don't want to spend to replace him, but have to have a top backup behind him.

Getting Goodwin to that cheap of a restructure changes the tenor of that move dramatically. Great trade!

Howie/Doug/Andy all waxing poetic about the uniqueness of this year's draft.

He said it’s a fair comp for how they might use him, not how they compare athletically. Hurts can do similar things.

Adrian Killins.  More speed.

Killins might actually have a chance to qualify for the Eagles new 4x100m relay team.

He’s exceptionally fast.

Doug'...always looking to improve the QB position and it is not immune to competition

Nice UDFA haul. I figured we’d get a nice RB or two. Was really surprised about the DT Williams. We’re fairly stacked there.

But Lamar's ability to take it to the house every time he takes off with the football in itself changes and dictates how teams defend the Ravens offense and that's just something Hurts doesn't possess, so when using him we won't be able to take advantage of that. Lamar's legs are the primary driving force of everything the Ravens do with him and everything teams do to defend him.

I don't see how it compares any way you slice it.

Howie...indirectly alludes to the fact that Byron Jones wanted to leave the NFC East.

Let’s hope, for Wentz’s sake, that their usage of Flacco/Jackson in the offense together in year 2 isn’t a "fair comp.”

This team has so much speed now, I'm getting watery eyed thinking about it.  And not just speed....world-class speed and with playmaking ability....what a day.....:towel:
