Whether I like it or not isn’t really relevant; I wouldn’t have made the pick.

Doug Pederson and Marty Mornhinweg decided on the pick and Howie approved it.  Both Roseman and Pederson have brought a Super Bowl to Philly — so I’m going to be open minded to what their plan is, rather than cry, bish and moan like the other takes you’re on board with

Whether or not you like it is relevant here. This is a discussion board. We give our opinions on moves the Eagles make. You wouldn't have made it. Neither would I.

So we agree. Looks like the debate has reached an amicable end.

And being open-minded about something is irrespective to our feelings on it. We really have no choice other than to see how it plays out, but that doesn't change anyone's feelings on what they did. So the only real difference between us is I've chosen to be vocal about my dislike for the pick and you have not.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Was at work today, though checked up on the draft now and then on NFL.com draft tracker.  I pretty much paid more attention to our picks, though I did browse the list of picks to see if any names I was familiar with jumped out.  Was surprised to see we had so many picks and figured we made a trade down or two to get more.  Anyway, on the drive home put on WIP to see what was being said of the draft and between that and then reading some posts here about how the Cowgirls had a very good draft 'on paper'.  So I looked up the draft picks by team on CBS and they also gave each pick a grade (A, A-, B+, etc.).  Based on that I came up with an overall grade for each team using a GPA-like system.  Now, I know this isn't to be taken at face value as we won't know for 2-3 years which team actually had a good draft as players either become contributors or fade away, but just to see what some of the so-called 'experts' feel about our draft compared to the rest of the NFC East.

Both us and the Girls graded out at B+, though we edge them out by .06 points.  The VaGiants graded out at a solid B while the Foreskins are somewhere around B-/C+.  So while most of us are still perplexed by the 2nd Round pick of a QB, it would seem on the surface that we made some good picks for both depth and potential.  Thing is, if we're supposed to be in 'win now' mode then it's more important to draft immediate contributors than potential.

I'm not listening to Philly sports radio for the time being.  When all you can talk about is a 2nd round pick from days ago when your team (literally) just became the fastest team in the NFL (#1 need)...then your agenda is clear....you're just in it to troll fans and get ratings.  Shame on you Philly sports radio.  Hopefully, come Monday, when the real hosts come back on, they will sing a different tune.

Yup.

I'm legit happy as hell that McCown finally got to play in a playoff game.  He played his tail off for us.  Wish they could have won but what an effort.

Not to rain on the speed parade, but honestly we have just one drafted player that we can comfortably say can play, and that’s Reagor. The rest are lottery tickets and solid bets.

Yup. Outside of reagor they banked on raw athletic talent.

  If you're referring to Angelo.  He's the biggest pot stirrer of them all.  Bet he makes himself a big meal out of the 2nd Round pick and will play it out as long as he can for ratings.

Don’t agree with that. On D the Eagles got Taylor and Wallace.  I think those are starters down the line and add speed to the D.  They got Slay.  His speed is world class for a CB of his skill level.  (Remember Diggs, the cowpads new corner against Chase?). Reagor gives us speed at WR.  Hurts is a lot faster than Sudfeld.  Tega and Driscoll are faster than Pryor.

And we got two high speed body catchers and a pretty fast slot player in a trade. Those are the lottery picks. It’s not all about the Wars.

Point taken, but I’m not ready to call ourselves the fastest team in the NFL yet.

Some of these additions may not make the team.  They need to ascend the depth chart and assimilate into the offense/defense.

Then we’ll be the fastest team in the NFL.

lol it was like the biggest story of the draft. They drafted a QB in the 2nd round when they just paid their franchise QB a year ago over 100 million. Don't know the last time that's happened with a QB as young as Wentz.

It will be talked about all year, as it should be.

They went a different direction in this draft than most of the previous ones where they coveted production.  Maybe they figured if the bust rates will end up close to the same that it's better to go with the raw athlete instead of the productive college player since you can't teach freakish raw athleticism.

Over the past 14 seasons, Dallas' starting QB has been a UDFA and then a 4th round pick.  And I'll stipulate that Romo and Dak are pretty good.

Yet without any material draft resources committed to the most important position, they are only 3-6 in the playoffs.

Satisfyingly inept.

Remember when they drafted Quincy Carter... ah... good times...

Very very close, but I think it was much more predictable the Packers would take a QB to be the heir apparent to a 36 year old than we would when our franchise QB is a 27 year old. Our pick was definitely more unexpected I can say that much. There isn't a person here who thought they'd take a QB in the 2nd round. Nor a single reporter or insider.

Hurts isn't Lamar Jackson (or he'd have gone in the 1st rd) athletically, but he's a pretty explosive runner, just watch Oklahoma highlights.

He's got the arm strength to get it deep, may need some work on mechanics.

Interesting point, rumor is teams are worried about their starting QB coming down with COVID, wouldn't take them out for the season, but might mean short-term injury list (4 weeks or so until they have a couple negative tests) - so backup QBs are more important this year, look for teams to go 3 deep.

The football players:   Scott/Slay/Reagor/Desean

The lottery tickets: Killins/Hightower/Watkins/Goodwin

The linebackers: Bradley/Gerry/Brown/Taylor

The roster cuts: Douglas/Ward/JJAW/Alshon

I'm pretty sure the LBs don't finish last.

And not picking a WR is the most historic WR class in modern history.   If you're a Green Bay fan right now...or Aaron Rodgers, you need to be banging your head against a wall....

Yup.  I'd say the roster cuts would finish last.  It would be a good battle for 1st between the football players and the lottery tickets.

The only thing that was along the normal mo was bringing in a ‘local school’ kid. Honestly my biggest gripe is the Bradley pick. To use the afan/bige cliche. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

Exactly.  I was going to post that yesterday after I got tired of people crying about the Hurts pick. (It was too soon though)

So we draft a WR or a LB at 53...there's a 50% chance that they are a bust.  So people are crying over a 50/50 bust pick.  lol

I am tempted to scroll back through to call out the many who wanted to fire Howie, who wrent their garments, and cried out in despair. What a bunch of hysterics! I won’t of course, mostly because I am too lazy but y’awl should be ashamed of yourselves.

Good night.
