I would not have been happy with Wallace in the second either!

Probably not.  But we wouldn't hear people having meltdowns for 2 days.  It would have been: "Meh...probably a reach here.  Oh look, they got a nice backup for Wentz with #127".

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I think Wallace was the best player in that Clemson secondary.

I never watched him because I thought he was redundant with Mills and Parks who are already replacing Jenkins. But PFF gave him a great coverage grade so Im excited.

But isnt that what we wanted them to do instead of banking on college production?

I have no issue with it. They saturated the roster with the moves too.

Exactly.  I was going to post that yesterday after I got tired of people crying about the Hurts pick. (It was too soon though)

So we draft a WR or a LB at 53...there's a 50% chance that they are a bust.  So people are crying over a 50/50 bust pick.  lol

That’s nonsense. Just trade every second round pick for proven players then. You don’t because it’s a 50 percent chance to get a good player at a cost controlled contract for four years. It matters. Greatly.

What you call "cry babies" I call passionate fans mad that their team blew a valuable draft pick because their fans care about the team and want them to win. Calling those people crybabies comes off as very immature and childish, no offense. Sounds like something a 12 year old would say.

I don't think you can have a "historic" day 3 in the NFL Draft, I've never heard of such a thing. Unless you look back a decade from now. You really expected sports radio to hype up 4th to 7th round draft picks?

If they followed the draft as closely as some of the better posters in this thread do....then yes, they would know we absolutely killed it today.

lol it was like the biggest story of the draft. They drafted a QB in the 2nd round when they just paid their franchise QB a year ago over 100 million. Don't know the last time that's happened with a QB as young as Wentz.

It will be talked about all year, as it should be.

Oh for the sake of us all, grow up.   Same thing over and over.  Nothing in depth whatsoever.   Your 💩 is beginning to stink.  The reasoning behind the Hurts pick is pretty obvious.

Just so I'm clear, when I said "cry babies"  I was specifically referencing you. Ever since this draft started you've littered this thread with doomsday, hysterical crying over everything. And honestly, I don't care if you think that's immature or childish of me.

If i pick at it, no corner and the lbs are raw. We need some luck to find competent lbs

I think the new board handled the draft traffic and discussion really well.  We are back home.

yep. and though people might have thought Wallace was a slight reach, it wasnt much, and hes already looking like a fan favorite. Thered be no one upset about the Hurts pick in round 4, and the instant starter they wanted in round 2 is actually quite possibly Wallace. Seriously, reverse the order and there is literally nothing wrong with this draft at all.

no real troubles after the 1st round. In 4 days we have surpassed 100k views in the blog alone.

Hurts isn't Lamar Jackson (or he'd have gone in the 1st rd) athletically, but he's a pretty explosive runner, just watch Oklahoma highlights.

He's got the arm strength to get it deep, may need some work on mechanics.

Interesting point, rumor is teams are worried about their starting QB coming down with COVID, wouldn't take them out for the season, but might mean short-term injury list (4 weeks or so until they have a couple negative tests) - so backup QBs are more important this year, look for teams to go 3 deep.

Great point about the virus threat. Caught the Jets last year with Darnold’s mono.

Of course it does....that wasn't my point.  People went nuts because we didn't pick Mims or a LB there.  Makes little sense to me when any of those guys has a 50% chance to even be in the league in a few years.  But whatever, I understand and respect people's dismay over it.  It wouldn't of been my pick but the way they came back today, with high-value trades and picks, I'm ok with it.

I like Taylor, but more as a fifth round pick and the second LB added. I much preferred Davis-Gaither. Hurts... meh. No outside corner was a big surprise, but I think we’re out of DB roster spots after picking Wallace.

This was a very Seahawky type of draft. Lots of athletes, reaching early, getting value later and leaving the draft confused and thrilled.

I don’t really see any reaches early.

Some will say Reagor I guess, but to me he was a top 25 pick all the way. The idea that he would drop to the 2nd was wishful thinking.

Hurts is a QB. An extremely athletic QB. Those guys get drafted early. The betting markets put the O/U at 58.5. He went right where he should have. People can hate the player or strategy, but the pick was made right where it should have been.

Taylor? He was the 104th pick. With his athleticism, I’m not sure how at that point he could be considered a reach.

can sign amukamara and trade Douglas for whatever.

Honestly, I think it’s BS (at least when it comes to picking Hurts).

I am tempted to scroll back through to call out the many who wanted to fire Howie, who wrent their garments, and cried out in despair. What a bunch of hysterics! I won’t of course, mostly because I am too lazy but y’awl should be ashamed of yourselves.

Good night.

Kudos to you. I am not going to walk back my responses until I see that the picks he gave Wentz is going to help him 🤷‍♂️

He said goodbye today after the draft on the old board. It was a sad moment cause for years I’ve gotten to talk eagles and other sports as well with him as well as other topics. It’s why i was over there talking to him through the draft cause i knew he likely was done once this draft was over. I’m hoping he changes his mind

Thank for the heads up. I had to go back the old boards and make one last plea for him to come over here.

And coaching... 😬

I have high hopes for Moorehead.  He needs to refine Reagor, rebuild Goodwin, rest Desean and retrain Hightower and Watkins.  He can recycle JJAW and Alshon.

I trust Stoutland.  He has some athletic pieces to work with.  One inside and one outside.  I think that Prince can become that swing tackle, and could one day push Dillard.  And that Driscoll really could push for that starting C job in a year or two, depending on when Kelce decides to hang them up.

LB is trickier... We have some serious athletes there.  So, that's primarily about coaching up the mental side of the game so that they can flash that athleticism and not get caught thinking.

KVon Wallace... he might be the ideal replacement for Jenkins.

All things considered, this draft might have been one of the most important in terms of a transformation.  These guys will be fast and that will at the very least have a massive impact on ST.

LB is certainly going to be interesting. I know I’m in the minority here but Gerry was fantastic towards the end of the season. Generally if I don’t see them, that means the LB is doing their job. I was once of his biggest ‘haters’. He had a terrible pre season and I didn’t even see him making the roster originally. We also went big/physical at S. I expect some heavy dime/nickel looks. Lots of toys to play with.

I’m already of the mind that Douglas is gone, so I wasn’t counting him anyway.

He’s my favorite pick from the entire draft from value standpoint and fit. I thought someone would fall in love with his versatility and ability to cover and take him before he got to the eagles at 127. I thought he’d go 3rd to early 4th. I think he’s your starter in 2021 and competing for 3rd safety this year. Every mock i Did i took him

Good night.

We expect an evaluation of our new OL, including Driscoll at C, Prince at swing T, Juriga as a C/G and our new 270 lb OT.

I’m of the opposite mindset there...

He’s on twitter so if you ever need to communicate with him there’s that. I don’t have a twitter account but was thinking of setting one up to check in on him and his dad. Want to make sure they are okay through this whole pandemic
